I like the steep slopes of the arena putting the fans very close to the action. Looks like a very intimate setting for a big arena.

Who cares what it looks like from outside, it is how it is configured on the inside that matters, and it is configured pretty well IMO. Very close to the action no matter were you sit. Great venue for both hockey and rock concerts, although I have never sat/stood in the nosebleed seats. 9/10.

I believe it is the largest NHL Arena.

It was built in 1996 and it's capacity is 21 273. Largest in North America. And 3rd most profitable arena in North America !! Home of the Montreal Canadiens.

It has 3 decks !! a 400 section !!!

3 decks, so you can put it in the 3 tires stadium thread too I guess

It's a nice arena. I saw the Madonna concert there last month. The views are quite good even from the 400 section!

I've sat in the club seats (the middle deck) good view but I found the atmosphere disapointing, I expected more passion. They weren't playing the Bruins though. Quite a few people wearing Nords shirts and I even saw a Leafs jersey.

Nice hotdogs though, toasted!

Really?? It is known that Montreal has the best atmosphere in the NHL. They sold out all of thier games at like 22K. Yes! The McCain hot dogs are amazing and the fries too.

If you want atmosphere, go to a playoff game. There're so many regular season games it makes many of them unimportant. :scouserd:
I remember the Stanley Cup Finals this year. The games in Edmonton - unbelievable !!! I would have loved to be there. My TV is connected to my stereo and I turned up the volume to get something of the atmosphere. The whole stadium singing the canadian anthem was impressing.

I really like the Bell. Huge but with out the unfriendly face of corporate suites, guess they're neatly tucked under the above tier.

Largest what in North America? If you mean "arena", then Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky has that beat with a capacity of 23,000.

Oh I know why I said that....
Because the Bell Center's hockey capacity is about 22 thousand.
I guess the basketball capacity is about 23k.

it's weird that they have a railing in front of every row in the upper deck. Would make sense if those were terraces, but they are seats.

Its to help prevent vertigo (and adds a small element of safety), they are common in very steep pitched stands, the ends upper level at the Xcel Center have them for instance, and a number of football (soccer) stadiums around are set up the same way

I think it's because the upper levels are much steeper and the fans tend to lean forward more to see the action. They're not so much for resting as they are for protection, it seems.

P.S. Are you the same nyrmetros from HF and BS?

What a bunch of animals! Every once in a while I forget why I don't watch the NHL, then it all comes back to me in a hurry. That league is full of thugs and people who tolerate thugs. Lock them up in prison, and that goes for half the players too.

Capacity:
Basketball: 19,945
Icehokey: 21,273

Why is the Basketball capacity lower?

Like at Joe Louis Arena, another mianly hokey stadium, the icehockey capacity is higher
Basketball 19,730
Capacity 20,066

Normally the Basketball capacity is always 1,000 - 2,000 higher

Benn
June 24th, 2008, 08:35 PM
Maybe they don't open up the gondola seats, or close off part of the upper level. If it can seat 21,273 for hockey it should be pushing 23,000 for basketball with out much trouble.

Small capacity (or is this typical for hockey? I don't follow this sport)
Interior looks nice.

Wrong. Wachovia Center and United Center are largest.

The Blackhawks drew crowds over over 22,500 in the 2008-2009 season. Montreal's maximum is 21,273.

They should be jailed a few nights and fined (heavily), but imprisoned? That's pretty draconic.

Besides, what happened in Montreal is child's play to some of the shit that goes down elsewhere in the world -- hell, even in North America. You should see Morgantown, West Virginia or East Lansing, Michigan after a big WVU/Michigan State win (or, twice in MSU's case, a loss).

Yes, a few nights in the slammer. They should be charged with battery. Two offenses, and they should get a permanent record. I have a zero tolerance for violence. The way it's treated now is a joke. Hitting is wrong unless you're wearing ice skates? There is no instance where it should be permitted in civilian life.

I'm not a fan of fighting in hockey but I absolutely can not agree with you here. If you are going to judge sports by an everyday civilian life standards, most athletes would end up in jail for what they do on the field. We wouldn't have contact sports such as gridiron football and rugby.

people need to get a life. And if fans want to fight each other, let them! But if innocent bystanders get hurt, then arrest them.
