Soldier arrested on suspicion of drug possession; police discover swastika tattooed on his body
Hard to believe: An IDF soldier from the West Bank settlement of Ariel was arrested Thursday, Holocaust Memorial Day, in suspicion of belonging to a neo-Nazi group, police said, adding that a swastika was found tattooed on his body.
The soldier is also suspected of drug possession.
In a search of the soldier’s home police officers found Another Incident
what they suspect to be drugs, along with a computer linking the suspect to neo-Nazi organizations based overseas.
The soldier willingly showed the detectives websites of neo-Nazi organizations he had been in contact with.
Soldier's mother also detained
An initial investigation revealed the 20-year-old soldier immigrated to Israel from Russia four years ago along with his mother.
During the investigation he said he hated Israel and all that is related to it.
“He hates Jews and hates the IDF, and defines
himself as a Nazi ,” a police source said.
The soldier’s mother was also detained for suspicion of belonging to a neo-Nazi group. Police sources said she claimed to hate Israel too.
Israel Police and the Interior Ministry are looking into whether the soldier had immigrated to the country illegally with the use of forged documents.
