Thanks for the pictures. I love the Pico station. The area around there is going to be booming in years to come.

I heard the Disney Concert Hall's exterior was dulled so that the apartments nearby wouldn't be fried during the summer. Was this taken after the process was finished?

I thought that I read the process would take a few months. Maybe I'm wrong?

Well, I was there yesterday, and I could only notice one small area of the building not sanded down. I don't know if it was a part schedualed to be sanded, but it apeared to be near 90 percent sanded down. I could be wrong too, but I seem to recal the guy going over the building very quickly.

I am slowly changing my mind about L.A. Great photos. It's great to see Los Angeles is progressing with it's public transport infrastructure in these pictures. Not big on freeways, not to the extent of L.A. anyway.

Hmmm, I can't get over the fact that LA is overrated. I mean, there are things to do in LA. But it's not a really tourist friendly city imo. All those Hollywood people are working hard on promoting LA. Therefore I think it's overrated. People outside of LA think LA is a paradise and glits and glamour. But it's not really. Just for a selected few. Not everyone can be a staaaar. Most of the wannabe-stars end up on Hollywood Boulevard at night. Tragic. In LA everything is spread out and disconnected. Some peeps like it others don't. The best part about LA and the OC is the coast line, the further inland you get the worse the city presents itself imo. But that's just me. But I have to say, I wouldn't say no to a beach house in LA ;) I don't think anyone would :)

True, but downtown will slowly change for the better.

"Hmmm, I can't get over the fact that LA is overrated."

Los Angeles over-rated? We are he most dissed city in the world. And do you know why? Because others can't stand it that we have perfect weather, a booming economy and a built in retirement system in the form of infinitely expanding real estate prices. Los Angeles has been reviled forever yet it continues to grow at record rates for the last 100 years. What is wrong with this picture?

When people from outside ask me if Los Angeles is as bad as they say I tell them it is way worse and they should definitely stay where they are. Why should I encourage overcrowding?

I thought "glits" were those things you eat for breakfast in the South...ooo sorry, you must mean "glitz". You have a very bizarre view of this town, and an even more bizarre way of expressing it!

Hey guys, great pics!

Sorry to get off track but I'm travelling to LA in the next month or so and I'm looking for a good backpackers. I'm in LA for a week or so and I would also like to get down to San Diego for a couple of days. Can anyone help me out? Where are the good places to stay in town and how far is it to San Diego?

I think staying in West Hollywood, Brentwood or Pasadena would be a good base to explore the LA metro area. Pasadena is farther 15-20 min by train but is definitely worth considering. San Diego is 2.5 hours drive south or catch an Amtrak train form Union Station downtown if you are not in a hurry.

Hmmm, can't get over the fact that you get facts confused with opinion. I mean, where is it confirmed, that it's a "fact" that Los Angeles is overrated? I can't get over your opinion, which seems to be based on sweeping generalizations.

I recommend staying at the Figueroa Hotel (http://www.figueroahotel.com/). It's in downtown Los Angeles and you get a lot of very hip European and Japanese tourists, but it's also a great locals insider secret. Very cool Moroccan-themed suites, reasonably-priced. The Tangiers bar is especially cool, the pool scene is very entertaining, and it's in close proximity to Union Station, which can take you to San Diego. It's close to the Pantry for yummy 24-hr cheap eats with huge portions. The train should take you to San Diego in about 2 hours.
