I mean if these cities were obliterated that would be bye bye for virtually all the power, economically and politically, Europe has. North America could survive without New York, Toronto and Mexico City.
George W. Bush May 7th, 2005, 12:08 PM Not hard to answer:
NYC (top financial power)
+ Washington DC (top political power)
+ Los Angeles (top media power)
+ Boston (top brainpower and hi-tech, Harvard & MIT & Route 128)
+ San Francisco (top brainpower and hi-tech, Stanford & Silicon Valley)
Kill these cities and it's bye bye USA ...

you are funny. we are talking about whole world, not about any land somewhere beyond..
tocoto May 7th, 2005, 06:02 PM The USA, Japan, Russia, middle east, China and India are the most important areas no matter how you put the cities together. Europe is beautiful and interesting but politically they have managed to become irrelevant due to no strong positions on anything. None of the other areas have the money and population to exert much power. Of course a small group of terrorists with WMD can change the course of history and come from anywhere on the globe.

Aside from New York, I don't see how any of those cities are more important than Chicago.
pottebaum May 7th, 2005, 08:34 PM Not even Washington DC? It's very likely the most important city in the world.
Dampyre May 7th, 2005, 08:48 PM Not even Washington DC? It's very likely the most important city in the world.
Not really. Politics is controlled by business, not the other way around.
George W. Bush May 8th, 2005, 08:57 AM Aside from New York, I don't see how any of those cities are more important than Chicago.
Nobody said that. I chose those cities because each of them are top at complementary strengths. In my eyes this mix would be unbeatable, worldwide.

BRISBANE September 21st, 2005, 03:28 AM Why London-London is a boring small city. If you put London in uve gotta put in chicago which is bigger. London cant compete with places like NYC or Tokyo its just too small
BRISBANE September 21st, 2005, 03:28 AM My opinion only of course
SHiRO September 21st, 2005, 03:54 AM I wish people would quite bringing up old threads...:|
HirakataShi September 21st, 2005, 04:16 AM Currently the Atlantic Rim dominates: New York - DC - London - Paris - Brussels
I have a question though. Will the Rise of China and India benefit the US West Coast? Will businesses start sprouting up all over California and Washington and create a Pacific Corridor: Los Angeles - San Fran - Seattle - Tokyo - Shanghai - Beijing - Hong Kong and Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkatta in the Indian Ocean?
earthJoker September 21st, 2005, 10:30 AM Can someone move this to City vs City?
SHiRO September 21st, 2005, 10:47 AM Better yet, just let it die.
