View Full Version : Could this be SMA?
IJT816 May 6th, 2005, 06:07 PM Hi All,
I'm somewhat new to this... I've actually checked out this site hundreds of times during the past year, however, never registered. Anyhow, I receive real estate updates from this realtor and I believe that this link she sent me might be the SMA project... Let me know :)
PS- I work in Brickell so its neat seeing everything going up and 'knowing' about it before ;)

Dale May 6th, 2005, 06:21 PM They can't be Miami buildings. They have spires.
Seriously, I really like them, but they don't apear to be 805 ft., do they ?
Roark May 6th, 2005, 06:38 PM You got it....that is SMA
dave8721 May 6th, 2005, 06:51 PM Wow this is a big week. I love the look of those buildings. Such non-typical miami buidings. One of them has a sort of Chrysler Building look to it. Will fit in nicely with ParkPlace 1 & 2, Infinity 1 & 2, Axis...etc in the South Miami Ave area. Might be 800ft if you include the spires and roof structures, thats 800 feet "Atlanta style", the actual residences might end at around 500 feet.
Dale May 6th, 2005, 07:15 PM Love the look - and spires ! - dissappointed with the height after all that 805 ft, hoopla.
south florida dave May 6th, 2005, 07:34 PM what an entrance, IJT816! welcome to the forums.
these towers are definitely unlike anything miami has seen & that's a good thing. i mean, they've got *gasp* spires! looks like only the taller tower is around 800 ft. to the tip of the spire, but that's ok.
what a week we're having!

i think i can get these into my photoshop pic, too. i'll try today & post it later on.
lauderdalegator May 6th, 2005, 07:46 PM Those are great!!!
I really like the Chrysler Building-like detail at the top.
Dale May 6th, 2005, 08:01 PM Looks like the same architect who designed The Avenue.
Bobdreamz May 6th, 2005, 09:13 PM IJT816 welcome to the forum and thanks. These towers are incredible!...does anybody have a definte height on these?
Dale May 6th, 2005, 09:32 PM It's hard to get perspective on height in these pics. For instance, in the third pic, the tallest of the two looks to be 800 ft. when compared to Infinity, but not ESP.
Rx727sfl2002 May 6th, 2005, 09:56 PM the perspectives are off by a long shot
although the pdf said that it was about 50 stories
and the county pdf says its more like 70 stories
so these might be old renderings and the towers are actually taller now....
south florida dave May 6th, 2005, 10:07 PM that's a good point, RX. these very well could be old renderings. i just checked the report & it says 64 stories, so maybe they'll be a little taller than this shows.
the perspective of these renderings are off either way, cause they're showing ininity as being about the same height as or just a little shoter than ESP when it should be a bit taller than it.
MarkyMark May 6th, 2005, 10:19 PM I agree...the photos are not in scale. The top of the Infinity should be over 100ft above ESP which is around 490ft high.
MIAballinboi May 6th, 2005, 11:28 PM great job, welcome to the forum ijt,
thats directly from their site

south florida dave May 7th, 2005, 01:19 AM so the actual name is Capitol Towers. me thinks SMA just stands for south miami avenue. that explains why my google searches for SMA-brickell-condos & such turned nada.
The Mad Hatter!! May 7th, 2005, 01:49 AM whoa what a week, thanks ijt
i must say they look pretty good except the garge looks disgusting, liike the spires
The Mad Hatter!! May 7th, 2005, 05:39 PM what other projects are we missing renderings for?
jzquince69 May 7th, 2005, 06:15 PM If these are SMA 1 & 2 both at 805', then someone was smoking on their crack pipe a little too much. In that one photo, their not even as tall as ESP, which is 485' or so. It just doesn't make sense to me. Also, one tower is shorter than the other.
The only thing that does make sense is if they altered the original design and now the proposal is for two shorter bldgs. of uneven height. BUT, i do agree that they have really nice designs.
jzquince69 May 7th, 2005, 06:20 PM In that last photo with the silouette of Infinity to the right, yes, they do look at least that tall. I guess the computer guy couldn't put the superimposed pix of SMA and Infinity to scale with the rest of the photo-- especially when the Infinity model is shorter than Brickell View just to the right.
The Mad Hatter!! May 7th, 2005, 06:54 PM yea but there one where you see wachovia ,and sma looks taller
nimbyhater May 7th, 2005, 07:51 PM just hope they go with that blue-gray-silverish color in most of the renderings... the rendering with it in yellow totally destroys everything and makes the building luk horrendous...
south florida dave May 7th, 2005, 08:25 PM i think that one is supposed to be the sunset shot, so the gray pics are probably the actual color.
Sunstorm May 7th, 2005, 09:08 PM Gorgeous towers! It's so great to see something getting built in Miami that doesn't have a flat-ass roofline. These towers will add a whole new dimension to the skyline. Brickell area is going to look even more kickass. Word to the developers of this project: Don't change a thing! Since seeing these renderings, I'm as excited over this project as the 1200' proposal.
jzquince69 May 8th, 2005, 04:45 PM True Mad, but in that same photo, they're barely taller than ESP and from that perspective, at 805', they should be pushing the top of the photo. Either way, I like 'em. Imagine the density there: Four Seasons, Infinity, Infinity 2, SMA 1, SMA 2, Park Place Office tower, ESP. Incredulous.
BHK25 May 8th, 2005, 05:25 PM Wow, Nice buildings. I think the buildings are gonna be taller than what they show us in those renderings.
mileageman June 27th, 2005, 04:23 PM Capital at Brickell, twin-tower project with 862 units just off the city's Brickell Avenue financial corridor. Proposed by Cabi Developers and located at the 1400 block of South Miami Avenue, the project could go before the City Commission for approval as early as this summer, said Otto Boudet-Murias, Miami's chief of planning and economic development.
