The windsurf paradise in Turkiye

windsurfersparadise.org

Alaçatı township is part of the district of Çeşme within Turkiye's İzmir Province. The town of Alaçatı is located on the "narrow waist" Çeşme Peninsula traces in its extremity. It is at the center of a corridor where the winds from the north to the south and in the reverse direction abound. The dominant summer wind of poyraz allows Alaçatı to "breathe", while lodos wind which blows more frequently in winter keeps the climate mild.

The number of windy days in Alaçatı (330 days a year) is well above the average in Turkiye. This abundance of these winds is the motive that brought Alaçatı to the position of one of the foremost windsurfing centers of the world.

The town is surrounded to its north by the locality of Ilıca, famous for its beach, to its south by the port of Alaçatı where windsurfing clubs are located, and to its west with Karadağ heights covered with olive trees and, since more recent date, with vineyards.

The Alaçatı center is located at a distance of 3 km from the sea and lies at an average altitude of 16 meters. Access to Alaçatı is quite easy through the six-lane İzmir-Çeşme highway and with İzmir center at a distance of only 70 km and with Adnan Menderes Airport served by international flights at a distance of 90 km. For those who depart from İstanbul with their own vehicles, once on Bandırma quay served by High Speed Craft services in partance of İstanbul's Yenikapı quay, a 340 km road through Balıkesir, Manisa and İzmir brings travellers to Alaçatı in about 4-5 hours.

Alacati has 70 km distance to Izmir.

i think Alaçatı is going to be an eminent tourist attraction soon.

it develops very differnetly than any other place like Çeşme, Bodrum, Antalya..etc.
it is becoming a "special" place

tabi çeşmenin rüzgarlı bi memleket olduu doğru. o da elli başlı yerlrde yazın izmirin yüzde bin nemli ve üçyüz derece sıcak havasından kaçanlara serin birer yazlık oluyo.. ama çeşme büyük ve acaip bol seçenekli biyer, mesela çiftlikte dışarda paltoyla falan otururken:lol: ılıcaya çeşmeye bi gidyoruz pastıma oluyoruz... hehe aynı şekildedeniz de boyalıkta kudururken dalyanda çarşaf gib, altınkumda buz gibiyen ılıcada acaiop sıcakolabiliyo..

sözün özü çeşme tam bi tatil cenneti, her yaştan insana her tür zevke hitap ediyr.

Its a town in Izmir province.

Izmir city center -> Alaçatı = 70km. However there's a big urban sprawl between them.

ALAÇATI WINDSURF PARADISE

Alaçatı township is part of the district of Çeşme within Turkey's İzmir Province.

The number of windy days in Alaçatı (330 days a year) is well above the average in Turkey.

Alaçatı is also served by regular intercity bus services in partance of İstanbul by the companies Varan and Ulusoy. In order to come by bus from İzmir to Alaçatı, travellers can take Çeşme Seyahat bus services in partance of İzmir Central Bus Terminal or Üçkuyular Bus Terminal. The bus ride to Alaçatı from İzmir lasts only an hour.
Yachts can dock directly at Alaçatı marina which is located at 38°15'N, 26°23'E.

Nice village! It looks so similar to some villages on Chios (Sakiz?) island! I have one question: :D Are there some turkish tourists who consider when visiting cesme/alacati also to travel to Chios or is it not very popular because of the political tensions and the high prices in greece?

the tourist of Aegean region is different than other places.
they are usually open-minded people who doesn't care political issues like this.

there is ferries to Greek islands and Turkish people also visit those places as long as they have enough free time.

Political tensions no longer play an important role. Many Turkish tourists visit the islands and many Greeks the turkish south.
Other regions such as the black sea coast or central anatolian regions welcome now greek tourists and more and more turkish people visit cities like Athens or Thessaloniki and this is something new.

In other words, political tensions disappear when everybody will earn money from tourism.

For example, a very popular trip is Bodrum-Kos.
Another one is Cesme-Hios.
And I think there is also Marmaris-Rodos.

In Lisbon I met a Greek street artist who used to live in Istanbul and at the western coast for some time. He was a great guy, earning his bread with his paintings and traveling around. Whatever... this guy told me that the island Greeks smile to your face if you are Turk but when you leave they talk badly behind you. He said he lived in Turkey and saw nothing similar to that.

I am 100% sure that no Turk is thinking a second about political tensions before visiting Greek islands and it's time you guys also realize that. Merely the fact that you pose this question here shows that some change is essential in your thinking way.

Thank you all for your replies! :) Messi....i think that my attitude towards Turkish people has already been changed. I live in Germany and here Greeks and Turks live in harmony together. I didn't want to start a discussion about Greek or Turkish behaviour towards each other. In my opinion Greeks and Turks should work even further together in tourism and general economy because we share a wonderful coast and a great and rich history!

@sfera 20 You know you will find on both sides people talking bad about the other side. This is how we greeks and turks are we have many prejudices. However I believe that there is a little change. The peoplle of the turkish agean are really friendly to greeks. But the people of the blacksea for example are different yet even there is a change. More and more greeks visit for example Samsun this is the reason why Samsunspor bought Theofanis Gekas.

You seem to be new here so I want to warn you. The Greeks and Turks fight regularly here. You have to decide yourself weather you want to be a part of the conflict or you ignore them. I prefer the last.
