I'd have to go (in no particular order) Grey. St Caxton. St Brunswick. St Ipswich. Rd Sir Samuel Griffith Drive (great views) schmidt May 9th, 2005, 03:07 AM In Blumenau there are actually only THREE streets that really matter hehehehe 1 - Rua XV de Novembro 2 - Rua 7 de Setembro 3 - Avenida Castelo Branco (Beira Rio) Followed by 2 de Setembro and Rua Amazonas. Azn_chi_boi May 9th, 2005, 03:12 AM 1. Michigan Avenue 2. State Street Not sure if I have a third. Maybe Wacker Drive... how about Archer Ave, Devon, Clark, lincoln, milwuakee, Clybourne or even Lake Shore Dr.... M.Poirot May 9th, 2005, 03:27 AM San Francisco: 1. Market Street-obviously 2. Broadway-My school is on it lol 3. Clement Street-My usual destination for lunch or dinner. Cheap and good dim sum and pho! Remember that this list is according to my opinion. :) spyguy May 9th, 2005, 03:31 AM I wasn't aware that LSD was considered a street :) But yeah, Devon it is then. It's a clear example of the "melting pot." You go through so many different ethnic neighborhoods that you could spend the day in just one or two parts of Devon. high_flyer May 9th, 2005, 03:55 AM For London my top 3 would be; The Mall, leading from Traflagar Sq to Buckingham Palace http://www.rafmarham.co.uk/relations/stories/jubilee-fly/jub-web-pix2/mall-1x.jpg http://******************/ajh/pictures.nsf/viewer/9F5A2494BCB3B32380256D750033B47D/$FILE/PICT2477.jpg http://******************/ajh/pictures.nsf/viewer/3BC36B4BAE2ECFF180256D750033B399/$FILE/PICT2476.jpg Whitehall, the centre of British government http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/Whitehall_london.jpg http://photoguide.myqth.com//film32/Small/Dscn2056.jpg http://www.tombridge.com/photos/london_day_one/looking_down_whitehall.jpg Regent Street, a shopping mecca http://wwp.londonw1.com/images/logos/regent-street.jpg http://www.photoatlas.com/photo/uk-london-regent-street.jpg http://www2.freefoto.com//images_d/31/64/31_64_1_web.jpg?&k=Regent+Street+at+night%2C+London%2C+England Dino Domingo May 9th, 2005, 05:20 AM Toronto: 1. Yonge Street (main street; divides the east and west; longest street in the world) 2. Bloor Street (separates downtown from midtown; Toronto's 5th Ave. equivalent) 3. Steeles Avenue (Border between Toronto and the suburbs; separates the north from the south) :) Monkey May 9th, 2005, 06:26 PM woow Madrid is awesome!! brooklynprospect May 9th, 2005, 06:43 PM NY - tough one... 5th Avenue then... Broadway? (around times square and again in Soho) Madison Avenue? Actually it's really tough with NY. Outside of 5th Avenue (and then only for shopping) it's hard to choose. Things are pretty spread around A42251 May 9th, 2005, 07:37 PM ^I think Broadway is New York's top street, not Fifth Avenue. Broadway is the only street that runs the entire length of Manhattan. It also passes through the city's epicenter, Times Square. In addition, Broadway creates a dramatic square/intersection everytime it crosses a north-south avenue, i.e. Union, Madison, Herald, etc...... I would put Fifth Avenue second and 42nd Street third. mikep May 9th, 2005, 08:42 PM Toronto Bloor St - Toronto's Fifth Avenue http://www.boldts.net/photos/TorBi.1.jpeg http://www.russiantoronto.com/photo/torontonight/tornight_14.jpg http://mathias.rousseau.free.fr/photos_canada/toronto/images/01.jpg Yonge St - Great shopping, Dundas Square, longest street in world http://www.boldts.net/photos/TorYk.2.jpeg http://grantsignservice.com/zoom/big/yonge7.jpg http://www.ydsquare.ca/image/photos/gallery/square_6.jpg Bay St - financial center of Canada http://www.personal.psu.edu/jfe119/toronto/toronto2004-020.JPG http://www.boldts.net/photos/TorBx.1.jpeg http://www.torontorentals.net/tourism/tourismPhotos/bayStreetSouth.jpg high_flyer May 10th, 2005, 04:17 AM Well this old lady clearly isn't watching for cars!!!(see sign top left) Is it normal for cars to drive on the pavement in Canada, the other pedestrians seem pretty blase about it?!? And shouldn't the person taking the photograph warn the woman about her impending death!!! So many questions...... http://www.personal.psu.edu/jfe119/toronto/toronto2004-020.JPG Skybean May 10th, 2005, 04:26 AM LOL. WTF is up with that? I can tell you that it is NOT normal for cars to drive on the pavement in Canada.. unless that building has underground parking. The sign to the left does say "Coop Cabs, Private Taxi Stand" Horrible, Horrible choice of pictures. Bay Street http://img179.echo.cx/img179/3821/torontosmall0fo.jpg Impending death... oshkeoto May 10th, 2005, 04:59 AM 1. South Michigan Avenue - beautiful old one-sided streetwall, world-class museums, Grant and Millennium Parks, the best Thai restaurant in Chicago. 2. Devon Avenue - Chicago's Desi/Jewish/Russian headquarters. 3. Clark Street - a multi-mile stretch that contains fancy boutiques, which I'm not really a fan of, storefront Mexican and African restaurants, which I am, the best cinnamon rolls in Chicago, which I definitely am, and the home of one of my favorite theater troupes in Chicago, the Neo-Futurists. KGB May 10th, 2005, 05:03 AM Well, the lady is not standing on the sidewalk...she's standing in front of a car dealership, where they routinely park cars on the land between the sidewalk and their building. That is, until that building is turned into yet another Bay St condo. LOL Toronto's top 3 ? Yonge, Bloor and Eglinton. Those are not my favorite streets, or the nicest or coolest streets. KGB wickedestcity May 10th, 2005, 05:20 AM I wasn't aware that LSD was considered a street :) But yeah, Devon it is then. It's a clear example of the "melting pot." You go through so many different ethnic neighborhoods that you could spend the day in just one or two parts of Devon. accualy Clark in my opinion would realy be the next in line running through so many dif. neiborhoods and rigley feild on it etc. so its 1) N. Michigan Ave. --Mag. Mile 2) S. State St.-- That great street 3) Clark (mabye wacker drive should replace clark) Zwanderlust May 10th, 2005, 10:02 AM 1-Market St. Main downtown thoroughfare. 2-Geary St./Blvd. Street downtown, boulevard thru "the avenues" to Ocean Beach. 3-Mission St. Starts downtown and cuts thru several neighborhoods, including the major district of the same name, where most of the city's Hispanics live. It is the longest street and crosses the city limits into the bordering county and where it ends, I have no clue. May 10th, 2005, 03:34 PM Antwerp: 1. Meir (largest shopping street in Belgium); 2. Groenplaats (Green Square) (one of the three central squares); 3. Grote Markt (Grand Place) (another of these three). Berchem: 1. Driekoningenstraat (Three Kings Street) (1 part of the shopping street); 2. Statiestraat (Station Street) (the other part); 3. Grote Steenweg (Grand Road) (important way into Antwerp). De Haan: 1. Stationstraat (Station Street) (shopping street); 2. Leopoldlaan (Leopold Avenue) (central street); 3. Markt (Market Place) (central square). No pics, I'm sorry :-s Onur May 10th, 2005, 04:51 PM Antalya 1-Güllük Caddesi 2-Şarampol Caddesi 3-Atatürk Caddesi A42251 May 10th, 2005, 05:25 PM Here is Louisville. The order is debateable but here is my choice: 1. Main Street This street contains the world's second largest concentration of cast-iron buildings (behind Soho in New York). Main Street also has the KY Center for the Arts as well as a nice museum cluster. The renowned Humana building is also located on this street. 2. Fourth Street This is where you will find the 4th Street Live entertainment complex as well as two "turn-of-the-19th to 20th century" upscale hotels. 3. Bardstown Road This street is the heart of a fantastic urban hood called the Highlands. It contains a couple of miles worth of stores and restauarants, many of which are independent. PanaManiac May 15th, 2005, 10:01 AM 1-Avenida Central/Via Espaņa:This longest thoroughfare in the city stretches from the colonial quarter to the suburbs. It starts as Ave. Central in the Casco Viejo district and becomes Via Espaņa at La Cresta district. 2-Avenida Balboa: This scenic boulevard* hugs the arc of the seawall promenade that seperates Panama Bay from the city. 3-Calle 50 (50th. St.): Is the main street in the banking and finance district of Obarrio. *Although called "avenue," Balboa is actually a boulevard, as characterized by a landscaped island seperating multilaned opposite directions. npinguy May 15th, 2005, 11:42 PM Vancouver: Broadway Kingsway Granville Street (especially in downtown) although kingsway is just long and big. Maybe Commercial Drive or Georgia Street would be better suited instead of Kingsway in the top 3. Maybe even Hastings street, though for dubious reasons. DenverDane May 16th, 2005, 12:23 AM Hmmm... If we don't count pedestrian only streets, for Copenhagen it could be: 1. Vesterbrogade http://voyager.adsl.dk/graphics/sqr-saturation/vesterbrogade_original.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/DenverDane/Copenhagen/Dvc00494-CopenhagenVesterbrogadeCarlsbergSilo.jpg 2. Nørrebrogade http://www.voldmestergade.dk/Sporvogne/Norrebrogade.jpg Okay, that's an old picture..... 3. Østerbrogade http://www.naturmiljoefoto.dk/Transport/Trans_fotos_a/1_55_21.jpg It was actually pretty hard to find some good street pictures. I gotta shoot some the next time I go there. JayT May 16th, 2005, 11:01 AM BRISBANE AUSTRALIA #1 - Queen Street - city This is Australia's most expensive street in terms of rental per square meter and is the main shopping mall in the heart of Brisbane. Rents have been known to go above $Au 14,000 per square meter for some shops!!! #2 - Brunswick street, one of my favorites. Goes from wicked with peep shows, sex and filth, to night clubs (passes right through Australias largest night club district in Fortitude Valley) to cafes and restaurants and outdoor entertainment to fashion to cake shops to residential and eventually to a tropical park by the river. Has a bit of everything that is Brisbane. #3 - Eagle Street - downtown. Flanked by the glass, concrete and steel skycrapers of Brisbane's financial district and home to the Australian stock exchange in Brisbane.
