A wonderful use of land, especially for an area with a severe housing shortage:

Welcome! Santa Cruz is sometimes considered to be part of the Bay Area so welcome to SSC! The last picture, the one with the bridge, was in a Clint Eastwood film wasn't it?

Welcome, Yakumoto, and thanks for showing off your hometown! :okay:

I particularly like the handsome yellow apartment building on the right in the 5th picture.

And please pardon me while I take the opportunity to acknowledge the presence of Gladys8it, something I haven't done so far.

What can I say, California never disappoints. I can't get enough palm trees. :)

Ah Santa Cruz... It's a pleasant place. A quirky place. But that's why we love it.

Thanks for posting those pictures Yakumoto. Seems like you spent most of your time on Beach Hill. We'll have to show em all pictures of the rest of town. :)

Here's a view of town and Monterey Bay from the UCSC campus.

Here's a view of the historic boardwalk (where parts of Harold and Maude were filmed) from the wharf.

And here's what I see everyday when I ride my bike home from campus.

Santa Cruz beach is right up there with Bondi,Sydney. My visit was in 1971, and the boardwalk with its famous carousel was a surprise. Thanks for the pics guys, memory lane is still a golden place.
