i don't think so, after all Marriott may just second tallest building in Jiafangbei CBD, it isn't so called city crown. if the No.2 is perfect the No.1 has regret, simply Marriott emphasize a Chinese idea: beautiful red flower need beautiful greenery as adornment. someone compose this pic, let us watch the 360m huge greenery and waiting for red flower blooming at Chongqing Jiefangbei CBD.

in fact many new style skyscrapers like Marriott is under construction. Jiefangbei CBD is skyscrapers heaven. buildings looks very tall now which just over 170m or 180m will be submerged in next 10 years. Chongqing have a plan and chongqing people are working hard now.

by the way, in this Chongqing Jiefangbei skyscraper woods exist some famous old buildings like Chongqing city wall built 2000 years ago Luohan temple which built in Song dynasty about 800 years ago and a church built about 100 years ago, they are much different too :) .

but chgqg looks really nice especially the old chinese architecture and sculpture

look at skyscraper in red circle the building called Zourong square, don't think it is a little one. and the building in black circle this one also big. IMO, the two pic have different scale.

JW Marriot might just be a normal glass box but it's my favorite glass box for some reason. It has beautiful clean lines and it's huge.
Chongqing has also many nice towers! :D

very nice tower. I think Chongqing may be the most impressive chinese skyscraper city (besides Hong Kong) right now. It is building a very tall and dense central district.

thank you. but you forget ShangHai and Shenzhen. Shenzhen decide build other 25 buildings over 200m so the number over 200m will be 38, comper with Chongqing's size, Shenzhen has more crazy density. ShangHai, that is a monster, Chongqing can't win it, trust me.
IMO, Shanghai have more buildings over 8 floors than Hongkong, but Hongkong have more buildings over 100m, but Shanghai have higher buigding than Hongkong 468m oriental pearl 430m JInmao tower and 500m Shanghai finance center is u/c. they are first class.
Shenzhen Guangzhou Chongqing are second class.

Maybe with all those developments completed, this one will fit in.
Chongqing really needs a facelift, there are sooo many old lookin buildings down there. It's growin fast though.
