Well then, what is it?
Also, feel free to share your experiences at these parks. They're all great, I'm sure.

View Full Version : Best National Park in the Southeast MattSal May 16th, 2005, 12:09 AM Well then, what is it? Also, feel free to share your experiences at these parks. They're all great, I'm sure. Tauricorn May 16th, 2005, 12:54 AM You forgot the Congaree National Park in Richland County, SC. Congaree National Park (http://www.nps.gov/cosw/) MattSal May 16th, 2005, 01:35 AM  South Carolina has a national park? I had no idea. Sorry, I was just listing out of the 2004 World Almanac. Is the park relatively new? ROBTEX May 16th, 2005, 04:43 AM Congaree became a National Park in November 2003. http://www.nps.gov/cosw/ Justadude May 16th, 2005, 02:49 PM I haven't been to all of these, but I'd have to think that either the Great Smokies or Shenandoah would offer the most breathtaking scenery. orulz May 16th, 2005, 03:21 PM I'd have to say that the Smokies are pretty amazing, but the entire region is at risk due to rising pollution problems. The 100-mile vistas common until the mid 20th century are now a thing of the past. LSyd May 16th, 2005, 04:53 PM yup, the smokies have gone downhill in the past 20 years. still a great park, but sad. Congaree's pretty cool, too. - KMURPHY19662003 May 16th, 2005, 07:25 PM Guilford Battleground National Park is the best. The 100-mile vistas common until the mid 20th century are now a thing of the past. Really? I went there about two years ago, and we were able to see Mount Mitchell from Clingman's Dome. scguy May 17th, 2005, 01:11 AM How about the good-ole Okeefenokee Swamp in South Georgia. There are tons of habits in this park and it has some of the highest diversity of Plant/Animal life in the continental USA. The Everglades is amazing too, and thats what I voted for. james2390 May 17th, 2005, 01:44 AM I have never been to any of them surprisingly, but the Biscayne Nat'l Park seems cool. skysdalimit May 17th, 2005, 01:49 AM I voted for the Smokies, but I also liked the Everglades, and Congaree was ok when I visited about 10 years ago, I remember seeing lots of snakes and getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. It was rough. Style™ May 17th, 2005, 01:56 AM GSM is amazing. MattSal May 17th, 2005, 02:10 AM How about the good-ole Okeefenokee Swamp in South Georgia. The Okefenokee isn't a Nat'l Park, it's a "Nat'l Wildlife Refuge" or something like that. Though this gives me an idea for another thread. :naughty: teshadoh May 17th, 2005, 03:14 AM I vote for Great Smokey Mountains, b/c Dolly told me to. http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/PEPH/DP1C1.jpg |
