TV channel Discovery has concluded an agreement with “Mirax
Group” Corporation on shooting a documentary about the construction of “Federation” complex.

The documentary will highlight the work progress on the territory of the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow City” of a multifunctional office and recreation center “Federation” to be the highest building in Europe. Among the heroes of the film there will be the following construction participants – “Mirax Group” as project’s initiator and investor as well as its Russian and foreign partners: architects Peter Shweger and Sergey Choban, “Turner Construction”, “Thornton-Tomasetti Engineers Division”, “Jaros, Baum & Bolles”, “Williams Davies & Irwin Inc.(RWDI)”, ”Ant Yapy”, “Kaskatash”, “Stiles & Riabokobylko Ltd.”, “Hyatt International Corporation”, Design bureau №6 under “Mosproekt-2” and “Veshntorgbank” as the principal financial partner. The project is an international one pooling the interests of the Russian private business and the world high-rise construction experience.

The documentary will demonstrate the advanced technologies applied in the construction of the “Federation” tower. Namely the central core will be erected using hydraulic formwork – though yet unknown in Russia but a widely used in the West technology. This effective method of high-rise construction ensures an automated lifting of the central core formwork weighing more than 25 tons and saves carnage time.
Shooting will be carried out with a permanently operating video camera installed on the territory of the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow City”. The film will last 52 minutes. Shooting is planned to be finished in 2007 – by the time of completion of “Federation” complex construction.

I remember they had specials about SkyCity3000 (I believe that's what it was called) - the huge vision for a building in Tokyo. It was really interesting.

A recent event saw the official presentation of the big name contractors that will work on the Federation project by Mirax.

They include construction manager Turner Construction, a division of the New York headquartered high-rise construction specialists, structural engineers Thornton-Tomasetti, ThyssenKrupp AG's elevators division and Liebherr, who will be providing cranes.

Mirax have worked on a number of upscale apartment and office projects in Moscow.

Federation Tower is emblematic of the construction boom, which has transformed Moscow's skyline in recent years and filled the city's streets with the rumble of building work.

The skyscraper will form the focal point of the sprawling Moscow City development -- a glass and steel assembly of high-rises-in-the-making, designed as Moscow's answer to Wall Street or the City of London.

The tower will be 420 meters high and the tallest building in Europe.

Sergey Tchoban, from architects Tchoban Voss, said that while it may contrast with Moscow's older buildings, the Federation project would blend in with the capital's eclectic style.

"Moscow is a city of silhouettes ... we hope it will complement and enrich the structure of the city's silhouette," Tchoban said.

But for now it's a silhouette in the making -- tower B is just two floors high and swarming with Turkish and Chinese builders.

So far Mirax Group are not saying how much of the building's office space is taken, but Polonsky was confident that as the biggest building in the capital, they would not need to take out ads in the newspapers.

You could make a 100m long antena as is the case with these towers but that wont mean anything cause it's just a piece of steel extended over a buiding.

да уж точно офтоп. как я знаю игра долна быть готова в феврале. ибо недавно заявляли что проект двух годичный стоимостью 15млн баксов и что thq отложило релиз до октября и что им надо как минимум 9 месяцев на тестирование. как раз в феврале 2004 был отменен предыдущий сталкер - потеренное забвение и началась разработка теней чернобыля. следовательно - игра будет готова к февралю и выйдет между апрелем и октябрём. надеюсь в апреле. параллельно этому идёт разработка сталкера 2. как я понял крутого мультиплеера.

щось нового чув про СТАЛКЕР?

I've got a stupid question...
that antenna in the middle, will they build it in the same time as the second tower, or first build the two buildings and then fit it in between?
That should be interesting to see, because it looks like there will be an elevator or stairs inside :?

It is Tower C. Height is about 354 meters + spire 432 meters. There are panoramic elevators (18 m/s - afaik fastest in the world. in taipei 101 is 16,8 m/s), stairway, bridges between tower A and B, and some cafes and restaurants in bridges.

Operation of pouring of tower A foundation slab has been postponed for 2-3 days, because of bad weather conditions (snowfall).

Vneshtorgbank just decided to buy 60 thous sq m (33 floors) for own office. They also already participate in project as main creditor ($250mln credit line).

It's actually pretty common. The lower floors are already inhabitable and the investor is interested in seeing immediate return on his investment.

Церемония прошла на уникальной площадке – 63 этаже небоскреба на высоте 240 метров. Более 200 гостей стали свидетелями исторического события. Среди почетных гостей на церемонии присутствовали официальные представители Посольства Турции в России, д-р технических наук Семен Каприелов, академик НИИ Строительной физики Н. И. Карпенко, весь руководящий состав корпорации MIRAX GROUP, партнеры строительства небоскреба и представители фирм – подрядчиков и застройщиков зданий в ММДЦ «Москва-Сити».

Председатель Совета директоров корпорации MIRAX GROUP Сергей Полонский, говорил на церемонии о будущем комплекса. Так, к примеру, в июне этого года башня «Запад» будет полностью остеклена, а в марте 2008 года будет готова к запуску первая очередь отеля Hyatt и бассейн на 62 этаже небоскреба, который так же отличается приставкой самый – это будет самый высотный бассейн в мире.

Завершением церемонии стал запуск в небо белых голубей.

Given the fact that to this date, the City of Moscow complex IS the tallest cluster proposed or under construction in Europe, and most likely to be completed, I believe that it deserves some updates.
