This question has always plagued me for some reason.

I know that the Okefenokee is a National Wildlife Refuge, but it would seem so much better, and possibly be nicer, if it were converted to a National Park, with all the extra amenities and rangers to boot, not to mention increased tourism and prestige for Georgia and Northern Florida (like they really need it).

Maybe it's just me, I don't know. When I went down there this spring, I found it hard to believe it wasn't a National Park.

So, anyways, what do you other people think?

Sure, but I suppose I am surprised it isn't a national park.

It may be financially advantageous to turn it into a National Park, but if we throttle off our wildlife refuges, what's left?

True, I thought the choices for lodging & food near the place were a bit sparse , but hey! And I do believe the place has rangers. :okay:

The magic of Okefenokee is how undisturbed it is.

I think that it should be a national park, but it might be better off staying a wildlife refuge.
