On Extra a few days ago, Donald Trump announced that plans for the Freedom Tower will be scrapped. He has fired the architect who came up with the concept. Trump now wants the towers rebuilt in their original form. What do you guys think about this?

Freedom Tower was a horrible idea.. and i didn't really like that design.

i'd like to see replicas of the original twin towers go up, except taller (and with a huge american flag flying at the top). that'll send a message to the terrorists that they can sucker-punch us, and we still can withstand the pain.

IMO, the original towers weren't particularly attractive. Aside from their sheer mass and engineering significance, they didn't offer much to a skyline that already has two of the most beautiful buildings ever constructed.

I think the Freedom Tower sucked for the most part, but I would hope they'd be more tasteful than to REbuild two bland buildings just to pump up the American ego/hard-on.

What a ridiculous idea. You people are obviously assuming that a terrorist would give two shits about what type of building goes up on ground zero. Rebuilding the World Trade Center exactly how it was will not look cool, defiant, or brave. It will look stupid, self-righteous, and the buildings will look just as ugly as they did before...only this time,half the complex will be vacant.

^Not sure, but I like the originals no matter what people say. I don't think it'd be a statement of "bravery" or us being "self-righteous". I liked them before and I'd like them again. Simple as that.

I, like a lot of people, dislike the Freedom Tower designs, they are awful and give little to the area or NYC as a whole, the site needs something a lot bolder and more striking, the whole pinnacle thing just looks out of place.

I'm not really in favour of rebuilding the originals, but wouldn't it be great to build something that echoed some of the early New York art deco stuff in a modern style.

IMO, Fosters design was one of the best, much better than the current plan.

I think they should make new twin towers similar to the old ones but with a few modern touches. If any of you guys have seen that futuristic movie caleed AI: Artificial Intelligence with Haley Joel Osmond (the kid who played in the Sixth Sense), there is a shot of futuristic NYC with the twin towers having been modernized. The look really cool, kind of like flaring up and getting wider at the top, similar to Charlotte's Hearst Tower. Very cool.

the twins sucked. Ok. They look so.....boring. It doesnt seem right to rebuild them. The whole 'freedom tower is cheesy' is just stupid shit. The skyline will be rebuilt bigger better and stronger not with the twins but with freedom tower and the other ones going up. It is time NYC go on with the flow of time. NYC cannot continue to be some open lego box. This will be a step towards modernizing the city. Your gonna love it. I know you will.

Umm, I don't believe they were, maybe I just saw new different twin towers on the movie, not necessarily in the exact spot in Lower Manhattan. I need to see it, I only saw some trailers, but I'm pretty sure I remember correctly.
