View Full Version : Norwich - Chappelfield Development
AndrewC May 20th, 2005, 03:03 PM Because skyscraper development is nil in Norwich obviously, I've stopped short of an Official Developments Thread! But here at least is a link to just the latest in retail and office development in this fine city.
Click on the link but DON'T CLOSE THE SMALLER WINDOW - its a rather snazzy and not just a bit egotistical advert for the city - most of the facts are true though!
Chapelfield Development (http://www.chapelfield.co.uk/)
"Think Chester, York, Bath - BUT BIGGER!"

i heard chapelfeld is opening late 2005,and i heard its getting a house of frazier is this true?
AndrewC May 25th, 2005, 04:37 PM yeah, if you look on the site at the gallery it shows that the building is pretty much finished and currently being fitted out and what not.
Sparks May 25th, 2005, 05:58 PM What's going on behind Carrow Road?
AndrewC May 25th, 2005, 06:55 PM Erm..where?
They're building a hotel probably, that was in the original plans for the new south stand.
The riverside complex to the north of that stadium has been completed for awhile now, bar the apartments along the riverside.
RichD26 June 10th, 2005, 08:29 PM I think Sparks is referring to the residential development on the old Norwich City car park by the river. Being developed by Byrant Homes. 300 Apartments in 5 or 6 eight blocks.
There is also going to be the Hotel as AndrewC mentioned and further leisure development behind the new stand.

:) That's the one.
Dreamer June 11th, 2005, 12:10 AM The Chapelfield development is shit, talk about a bunch of cow sheds!, utter crap, and so is Riverside, such a missed opportunity
RichD26 June 11th, 2005, 01:04 AM Tis true that Riverside is a missed oppotunity but thats because the developers wanted a viable scheme and where not going to take a chance on speculative development with more vision. They needed the commercial development (the retail park) to make it happen and the council caved in.
I'm not sure about Chapelfield yet as it isn't finished. Yes the design could proberbly be more imagitvie but I think Norwich City council are so protective of maintaining the historic fabric of Norwich that we will not get the kind of developments we could have or want.
I really want Norwich to grab hold of the lead that cities like Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester etc are taking and building up! There is such a shortage of housing at the moment in Noriwch and the green campaigners complain about destroying the green belt, why don't we build up!
I am new to these forums but have been lurking for a while as I am really interested in building design and urban development. I am based in Norwich and will try to post details of developments and pictures when I have a chance.
Excuse any spelling mistakes in this post, I have been down the pub!
Dreamer June 11th, 2005, 09:03 PM Norwich will never build up, and could of easily had more flats at riverside, even by adding another floor, there is alot of disused land around in pockets. The industrial area around MFI and Halfords should be housing, but the council are useless and have no vision at all, and thats why people are moving away as its cheaper elsewhere....
