10. Had to make a tenth to feel complete. Greengate will go through several more proposals and redesigns but nothing will be built until the proposal of a 600ft concrete banana in 2009, on which dgnr8 will frequently be seen performing unspeakable acts.
kids May 21st, 2005, 10:24 PM i like the sound of No. 9, not sure about the mozza gig, i think maybe he wants to suck his own cock a bit too much. But i'd turn up just so i can get him to punch me so i can sell my story to several newspapers. (:
dgnr8 May 21st, 2005, 11:46 PM Not really much of a prediction that really Caw. It's always likely I'm going to rub my balls over the cornerstone of a newbuild. I've got a new mission for the future - I'm going to wank off onto every sexy building completed in Manc from now on. And maybe a few recent addiitons like Urbis. I'd like to have this secret knowledge that all of Manc's prestigious buildings will be clad not just in fancy glass, but a little bit of Wiggles' DNA.
Long after my death, in the year 2083, I predict the buildings will mutate to form a giant glass Wiggles who will smite those who value self importance and drag my bum like a dog with worms across any housing estate that has the letters "e", "t" or "m" in their names.
andysimo123 May 22nd, 2005, 12:33 AM 9. There will be a large forum meet which will involve much underage drunkness for caw123, Accura, KITR and Andysimo.
Depending on what month it is I maybe drunk within the law.
andysimo123 May 22nd, 2005, 12:39 AM 1. Glazer with have brought english league moving it to the USA and he will replace Manchester with a massive head of him self, which can be viewed from space. With all debts being placed on United.
2. Please refer to number one.
GreatMoor May 22nd, 2005, 03:27 PM Reds fail to qualify for Europe. Glazer goes bust.
Accura4Matalan May 22nd, 2005, 04:12 PM 1. Designs for 1HS will be revealed and will be surprisingly good.
2. Easgate will be on the rise
3. CB will be on the rise
4. New Islington will be progressing well
5. The Green Quarter will be nearing completion
6. Chancery Place will start early
7. Oakglades Greengate proposals will be approved by Salford

rolybling May 22nd, 2005, 04:42 PM 19. Leeds No.1 will start a terrorist organisation and officially declared Jihad on Manchester
hehehe
rolybling May 22nd, 2005, 05:01 PM I think
1. Beetham will amaze us when it starts to reach its full height, we all stare in wonder at how bloody big it is.
2. More orgasms as Eastgate is well underway and starts to rise nicely.
3. Multiple orgasms as Crown starts to rise at the same time.
4.Canopus will have been re-designed and renamed Intercontinental Towers as it will be that Hotel group occupying the 240 room hotel in the lower 26 floors.
5.The Council will bite the bullet and do something about Piccadilly Gardens(again) and get rid of the berlin wall.
6.Council announce the rehousing of all residence in the St Georges tower blocks in Hulme as they are to be demolished and something big and sexy will be put in their place.
7.Elizabeth House at St Peters and Oxford St will be demolished and Ian Simpson designs a 150m tower to go there.
8.Another tower is announce for the land opposite Key 103 and the grass in the middle of the mancunian roundabout gets a 100 jet fountain to greet visitors and finish off that whole area as a gateway.
9.I dont wake up from this dream.
sloyne May 22nd, 2005, 05:05 PM Reds fail to qualify for Europe. Glazer goes bust.
I hope it's the Manchester United Malcolm you are refering to and not the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Malcolm. I mean, what would I watch at Raymond James Stadium between October and February? What, with no hockey settlement on the horizon I would have to take up fishing or greyhound racing or even soccer. Oh yes, in case you hadn't noticed, Malcolm and family are mortgaged to the hilt already so I wonder which part of their sports empire will suffer the most?

What, Salford playing in Europe? :D

Well seeing as the loans he took out to pay for United were secured against Tampa Bay, if United started struggling then Tampa Bay would be liquidated to pay for it! ;)

Ah! but the Raymond James Stadium is owned by the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County and due to the setup of the NFL franchise system, we [Tampa] would probably buy another NFL franchise. I couldn't see a stadium like the Raymond James laying empty for to long.
Did the Manchester United stadium come with the deal? If yes, just how much is the stadium worth? You know, Malcolm is a very astute businessman with very little interest in his sport franchises except as a generator of wealth and like most businessmen he is in it for the money. I must say though, the Bucks are a better franchise for his involvement.

Yes, Old Trafford is part of Manchester United. I'm not sure exactly how much Old Trafford is worth but I know the figure was greater than the entire market value of Tampa Bay, just because it is a sporting icon.
Apparently, though, the NFL are investigating him because he secured loans against Tampa Bay. If they find him guilty then he loses his franchise, defaults on the Man Utd loan and the banks take ownership, leaving him with nothing.

Wouldn't be to many who would shed tears over Malc losing his shirt. But, and like I said before, his involvement with the Bucks has been positive, so far.
Isaac Newell May 22nd, 2005, 10:24 PM I predict no Hockey next season.
Isaac Newell May 22nd, 2005, 10:26 PM I Predict "Red Devils USA" in MLS like "Chivas USA"
Don't know where they will play though, little interest in Tampa
sloyne May 22nd, 2005, 11:01 PM I predict no Hockey next season.
It certainly looks that way, however, me being a Habs fan will mean one more season without anguish.
Isaac Newell May 22nd, 2005, 11:40 PM I saw them against the New York Rangers last January, my first game, great arena but strange lack of atmosphere considering it was full (over 21,000) crowd waiting for something to happen.
2-2 draw in the end, Jose saved the day once again.

Was that at Madison Square Garden or the new Forum? The Garden is usaully a very lively and, partisan place, with a very electric atmospher. I am not fond of the new Forum though. Also, was the game before the new 'sudden death' rule?
The atmosphere at the old Forum and Maple Leaf gardens in Toronto when the Leafs and Habs played each other was, I am told, akin to the atmosphere at Goodison Park or Anfield Stadium when Everton and Liverpool play each other.
Northbeach May 23rd, 2005, 11:30 AM ?
8.Another tower is announce for the land opposite Key 103 and the grass in the middle of the mancunian roundabout gets a 100 jet fountain to greet visitors and finish off that whole area as a gateway..
If the large Dandara development comes to fruition and the ASK business further up Chester Road (not forgetting the ISA 2-4 builds) then the such a fountain might not be a bad idea - similar to this one ni Chicago perhaps?
http://porter.csres.utexas.edu/album/Cityscapes_2/20020723_04dx037_small.jpg
If we're talking of linking up SQ with the city centre - apart from a relatively extensive strip of scruffy buildings the link betwix the two looked seamless in yesterdays 10k run (Beetham kept sticking it's oar in many shots I noticed!).
Northbeach May 23rd, 2005, 11:33 AM Of course, I wouldn't suggest the kiddies take their post ironic choppers and grifters around this Island.
Nobby May 23rd, 2005, 01:32 PM My prediction for 2006...
Government will approve the phase 3 lines to be built seperately and one at a time.
GMPTE will put out to tender, seperately, the construction of each of the lines, the building of the 55 (ish) trams, and the running of the new network.
We will hear about 'prefered bidders' for several of these contracts.
Towards to end of 2006, the Rochdale line designers and constructors, tram builders, depot desginers and builders, and operators will be announced.
By the end of 2006, tenders will be being submitted for Stockport, Trafford Centre and Lowry spur.
Trafford Centre and Lowry spur not needing any government funding.
highriser May 23rd, 2005, 06:55 PM 1. Eastgate and Crown Tower's will be reaching for the skies
2. 2 new unknown tower's will be proposed , one near Piccadilly, the other near Beetham
3. 1HS will be absolutly stunning,and start construction mid 06,with a huge pre-let .
4. We'll find out what is replacing Manchester House,25 storeyish tower
5. Railtrack will announce that Victoria station will get a multi million pound refurb
6. Observation Tower will be u/c
Nobby May 23rd, 2005, 06:58 PM Do Railtrack run / own Victoria? I didn't think they did???
Nobby May 23rd, 2005, 06:59 PM No, didn't think so...
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/Stations/
I think 5 is highly unlikely.
highriser May 23rd, 2005, 07:04 PM interesting link there nobby, cheers,,,,well whoever owns it should do it up,esp the fucking roof
Nobby May 23rd, 2005, 07:16 PM Think it is essentially owned and ran by the PTE (although I could be wrong), and judging by their spending priorities (i.e. Metrolink) I don't think a refurb there is going to happen anytime soon.
They would have to work together with MCC, (as Trafford are for Alty) to fund it.
dirtyred619 May 23rd, 2005, 07:25 PM 4. We'll find out what is replacing Manchester House,25 storeyish tower
We might find this out but its unlikely any demolition/building work will be done within at least 2-3 years. They have stopped letting out office space at Manchester House for quite awhile now but aren't actively trying to get existing businesses out. I know the Arts Council for one have no intention of moving any time soon and haven't even had a thought of looking for alternative premises, and until all tennants have vacated nothing will happen.
I hope that this changes though.
Isaac Newell May 23rd, 2005, 09:17 PM Due to ending of Maggie's EU rebate and the diversion of more funds into state subsidised mortgages there will be no money for Metrolink but there will be a plethora of cheap housing projects springing up all over the city.
Isaac Newell May 23rd, 2005, 09:21 PM Was that at Madison Square Garden or the new Forum? The Garden is usaully a very lively and, partisan place, with a very electric atmospher. I am not fond of the new Forum though. Also, was the game before the new 'sudden death' rule?

It was at the Bell Centre/Centre Bell i.e. the new Forum, 128 dollars for a ticket (mid priced) The atmosphere was cracking during the 5 minutes of 4 on 4
andysimo123 May 23rd, 2005, 09:30 PM $128 how come its so much?
Isaac Newell May 23rd, 2005, 11:29 PM Andy the players are on daft money and the teams have no TV deal so it has to be financed at the gate
andysimo123 May 24th, 2005, 01:17 AM Sounds like they have some big problems to me.
sloyne May 24th, 2005, 03:42 AM It was at the Bell Centre/Centre Bell i.e. the new Forum, 128 dollars for a ticket (mid priced) The atmosphere was cracking during the 5 minutes of 4 on 4
Do you mean a "Power Play"? You didn't have very good seats Isaac. Did get a nose bleed sitting so high? In the "greys", (I think) for that price.
As someone else said, it is expensive to watch sports in North America, however, there isn't even a waiting list for season tickets, demand being so heavy. I have heard of people mortgaging homes and business's to purchase a season ticket.
There is a TV contract and it is the oldest, continual, sports TV broadcast in the world. It is called "Hockey Night in Canada". And the "Habitants" (Montreal Canadians) are the most succesful sports team in the world having won more league titles (Stanley Cups) than any other team in any other sport. THe "Leafs" are way behind, just like Manchester United are behind Liverpool, in trophies. :)
The Devil made me say that. :) :) :)
Priscilla QOTD May 24th, 2005, 10:36 AM Think it is essentially owned and ran by the PTE (although I could be wrong), and judging by their spending priorities (i.e. Metrolink) I don't think a refurb there is going to happen anytime soon.

Nope. Victoria, like Oxford Road, Deansgate and Salford Central run by the company that took over from First Northwestern. I think they're called Northern Rail or summat.
BenHK May 24th, 2005, 01:09 PM Elizabeth House and Odeon to be knocked down. Development started on monster floor plate 20 ish storey building to go over both sites
Picc place phase 2 started
Canopus topped out
HS 1, 2 & 3 all started
Sails started in SQ
Old Trafford sold off by Glazier
caw123 May 24th, 2005, 07:42 PM Very optimistic indeed Benhk....
Canopus topped out? I'd be surprised if it has started to be honest!
And a 20 storey would never been allowed that close to the town hall, for the better say I.
Isaac Newell May 24th, 2005, 08:44 PM Here we go Sloyne, the view from my seat in the second tier during the warm up, attendance that night 21,273. Those seats down below are around 200 dollars a ticket. Incidently and to bring Manchester back into it, this place was voted number two concert venue in the world last year behind number one the MEN
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/IsaacNewell/habs.jpg
and no I don't mean power play i mean 4 on 4 sudden death overtime
sloyne May 24th, 2005, 10:46 PM Here we go Sloyne, the view from my seat in the second tier during the warm up,
Either the upper "Blues" or lower "Reds". Nice seats. The picture would bring tears to a glass eye and to think, a season. or maybe two, without hockey.
andysimo123 May 24th, 2005, 11:30 PM I can't see glazer even getting a buyer for Old Trafford. Think about it who the hell would want to buy a 68,000 or 75,000(if its finished) seater football ground and also he would want something like well over £300+ million for it. I dont even think the banks would want it for paying off debt.
Isaac Newell May 24th, 2005, 11:58 PM Anybody who thinks glazer will sell Old Trafford is deluded, it's not opposite Buckingham Palace, it is probably worth more as a stadium rather than as a piece of land for development.
I would expect to see the stadium reconfigured over time with bigger and more expensive executive boxes cutting into existing seating.
Probably using American stadium designers.

Were not that far off. We still hold the record for the most FA Cups won and have won the league 15 times compared to Liverpool 18 but if you look at the last few years .....

Now I have never Looked at what we have won in a table before but that looks pretty impressive.
dgnr8 May 25th, 2005, 12:26 AM According to the papers today, he's setting a £90m loan aside for OT expansion, not including the 2 corners currently being fannied with.
Make of it what you will.
Isaac Newell May 25th, 2005, 12:35 AM Here's an extremely crude attempt to illustrate how I believe the stadium will eventually be remodelled with the existing seating being "cut" into enabling the construction of more and bigger boxes.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/IsaacNewell/strt.jpg
I will do a better one later

I'd already said that I'd heard from a semi reliable source that the one remaining stand would be extended out over the railway, extending the ground to 96,000. I also said that part of his plan to finance it is apparently renaming the ground as "The Nike Arena" in a sponsorship deal with them. I won't pretend to know how reliable my source is on this, but suffice to say they knew about the previous expansions beforehand.
sloyne May 25th, 2005, 01:19 AM Now I have never Looked at what we have won in a table before but that looks pretty impressive.
Alas, everyone remembers the winner, it is only the losers who remember they lost. Just like the present day English Premier League, just when did finishing second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh become a "success"? You either win or you are a loser. I guess at this rate West Bromwich Albion will consider themselves succesful, considering they finished one point out of the relegation position. I guess it's all relative.
sloyne May 25th, 2005, 01:23 AM By the way Isaac, what did you think of Montreal? And have you visited Toronto? If yes, then what is your impression of Toronto and how does it compare to Montreal? I would be interested in your opinion.
dgnr8 May 25th, 2005, 01:29 AM What do you want EB, a fucking chuffty badge?
EarlyBird May 25th, 2005, 01:46 AM What do you want EB, a fucking chufftie badge?
No... just pointing it out because people on here had been talking about what it would be like if it happened ages ago. I just think it's an interesting topic of conversation that Glazer could bring the largest stadium in the UK to Manchester. It'd only be 2,000 less than Nou Camp and, IMHO, would be twice as good.
Exciting times. Maybe Glazer isn't so bad after all.
sprouty76 May 25th, 2005, 10:42 AM Very optimistic indeed Benhk....
Canopus topped out? I'd be surprised if it has started to be honest!
And a 20 storey would never been allowed that close to the town hall, for the better say I.
More important than the proximity to the town hall is the fact that it would leave the cenotaph in near-permanent shadow, so it would never get planning permission.
The fact that it's not the best site for a cenotaph is another argument.
Isaac Newell May 26th, 2005, 11:45 PM I've added a section of luxury boxes from Jacobs Field baseball stadium in Cleveland to Andy Simo's pic of the Stretford End (West Stand)
This is my prediction not for 2006 but around 2008, American ownership will bring American style stadium modifications.
Anyone who thinks the stadium will go up to 90,000 plus is plain wrong.
It will go up to 76,000 then gradually fall back to around 72,000 as the stadium is modified to add more boxes.
Luxury suites are the currency of American professional sports.
As for the south stand, it will grow but not like the north stand, it will probably get multi storey boxes rather than a bank of seating. Cheaper to construct and for a bigger return.
UEFA will also appreciate the additional space for corporate entertaining alongside the RFL and RFU.

dgnr8 May 29th, 2005, 12:30 AM Chuffty badge - a badge you reward to somebody who is ridiculously smug/chuffed.

Farsight May 29th, 2005, 01:58 AM I don't know if you've had this prediction already, but here it is: Vector Tower rises again.
highriser May 29th, 2005, 02:08 AM Oh Farsight ,i hope your predition is correct, cos it was that tower ,that got me hooked on scraper's,,,,what a baby she will be gracing the Manc skyline :)

highriser May 29th, 2005, 02:18 AM Now you said the Vector word im sure to sleep tight :)
neil June 21st, 2005, 11:59 PM After this weeks exciting news do we have any changed, new or realistic predictions?
SleepyOne June 22nd, 2005, 12:22 AM What exciting news? There is no news.
Manc Guy June 22nd, 2005, 12:28 AM Lmao...No there isnt :? Enlighten us...
caw123 March 30th, 2006, 06:32 PM 2. Eastgate will start to rise in March and will top out halfway through 2007.
4. Piccadilly will see 2x 200m towers approved. Though that could happen before 2006.
7. Large towers will be proposed south of Castlefield.
Oops! Mr optimistic eh?
Does Crowngate satisfy number 7?
The Longford March 30th, 2006, 06:42 PM Wouldnt dwell on it chris!
We need you and your optimism to counter people like me and my ingrained scepticism.

highriser March 30th, 2006, 06:55 PM Kid's it is only March/April ,,have faith son :)
oscar9 March 30th, 2006, 06:56 PM I think everyone was over optimistic about Eastgate,I wonder if we will see a core rising in 2006. I am having doubts. I have also lost faith in Albany starting for many months yet, work on demolishing that old building has not even started.
kids March 30th, 2006, 06:58 PM Kid's it is only March/April ,,have faith son :)
They were my predictions for the rest of 2005 :D

Nah, not optimistic overall:
A bit early, 5 months too early perhaps! Nevermind.
1. We will have no more news on Quay Point(er..Salford Sails?)
3. Hardman Square will be a huge dissapointment but will not start anyway due to lack of a pre let.
5. Seeing that Sunley and CIS look great after their reclads, Prudential will do NOTHING to the Arndale Tower!
6. A historically significant building will be demolished/destroyed.
10. Had to make a tenth to feel complete. Greengate will go through several more proposals and redesigns but nothing will be built until the proposal of a 600ft concrete banana in 2009, on which dgnr8 will frequently be seen performing unspeakable acts.
The Longford March 30th, 2006, 07:15 PM Can i nominate the Welsh Chapel on Upper Brook Street for number 6?
Mez March 30th, 2006, 08:57 PM Yeah. the c**ts
Legin March 30th, 2006, 10:04 PM Is it me or does anybody else feel thee is a a lull in the Manc developmemt field for insatnce, I recently visted Dubai and saw for my own eyes the awsome developmennts that is going on there - which got me frustrated about the pretracted negotiations that seem to be necessary to build a tower in Manchester. There used to be a lot of new developments starting up here virtually every week. Now we seem to be in a lean period - plenty of applications - but no action- we have projects that have been approved but seem to have not been developed - Issa, Albany , Eastgate - the spinningfield tower et al - we are loosing ground on a daiy basis to the rest of the world.
rolybling March 30th, 2006, 11:28 PM nah Legin, whats happened is Beetham and GN are coming to an end in a few months, we are simply being impatient for the next big ones to start, which they will. Albany will start this year and so will Eastgate(apparently) Picc Place is still going on for quite some time, Spinningfields is far from finished, Greengate area is up and running, Salford Central gets its "MAJOR" facelift this year, BBC will be announcing its location soon and I predict another BIG proposal this year, still plenty going on and to come..pateince. :)
