First I am an American and over in the USA right now we are having what people are calling a "culture war". When I look at the photos of Israel it seems to me that Tel Aviv is one of the most liberal cities in the world and Jerusalem one of the most conservative cities in the world.

your thoughts:

?????????
:bash:

Jerusalem is conservative in the areas where religious people live and there are a lot of them in this holy place.
Actually It’s a big modern city with its nightlife, tourism and all the vices of the big cities.
Jerusalem is the Israeli heart and cultural center to us as the most important museums are located there and the religious authorities too.

Tel Aviv is just bigger because it’s located on the coast near a harbor and immigrants stayed there when they came and Jerusalem was kind of dangerous.
So it really did become our big liberal metropolis.

What I was meaning to say is that there are differences but not as dramatic as you have mentioned.

oh Shohad big difference between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv
Jerusalem is conservative(but not the most)in religious neighbours like Mea Sha'arim(OMG),Beit Yisrael,Geula. in this neigbours i will think u are in 13th century:))
but i think 40% of jerusalem are secular Pisgat Zeev, jerusalem west,Giv'a Zarfatit,Gilo. in Gilo lives many emmigrants from Russia
and Jerusalem although has gay deputy in town council! Netan'el from meretz party

Tel Aviv is a modern city in Israel and Middle East!in Tel Aviv u will feel like in other west city!u can wear all things which do u want, very liberal, very gay city!many parades and festivals in this city!Tel Avivi nightlife is great u can see it in thread...

in Israel we says:
"when Jerusalem is praying
Haifa is working
Tel Aviv is dancing!"
