Urban Dave May 24th, 2005, 07:53 PM  7.0 Mpx!!!!!!!!!!! More than my DSLR! The PhantoM May 24th, 2005, 10:18 PM why would you want to have a 7 MP phone? It's just useless. You still make better pics with a DSLR, even with less MP. People always think the more MP the better pics they can make. You won't even notice the difference btween a 5 MP photo or a 7 MP photo if you would print it on a A4 paper (is this standard paper size used globaly? wouldn't be surprised if the US didn't...). And like you want to have your 7 MP phone photo printed A4 size http://www.skyscrapercity.com/images/smilies/rcain.gif I would say: buy a phone with less bullshit and spend your money on a good DSRL instead ;) mumbojumbo May 25th, 2005, 02:21 AM all samsung phones (i think) can change to english menu Yup tkr May 25th, 2005, 04:34 AM thats great.. what's it data capacity? How would occupy? 3 or 4 mb? :D You will have to pay a lot for the GRPS connection! 24gotham May 26th, 2005, 11:02 PM A4 is used everywhere except the US (And perhaps Canada). North America likes it's 8.5x11 inch paper standard for some reason. Ellatur May 27th, 2005, 02:39 AM all samsung phones (i think) can change to english menu oh nice! perhaps i will buy a samsung phone from korea mumbojumbo May 27th, 2005, 04:45 AM ^^ BUT Korean phones don't work in North America. Unless its one of those "worldwide" phones (does Samsung have one?) pretty May 27th, 2005, 05:12 AM That`s a cool phones.... Ellatur May 27th, 2005, 06:23 AM ^^ BUT Korean phones don't work in North America. Unless its one of those "worldwide" phones (does Samsung have one?) you can when you alter some chips in the phones. they cost some big bucks however :) Genç May 27th, 2005, 08:09 PM Damn, thats cool..but is 7mp really neccesary on a phone? Ellatur May 27th, 2005, 10:58 PM when a digital camera isn't around, it can be useful. you were driving by loch ness and you see the monster, but you forgot your camera. then you resort to your phone! SUNNI May 28th, 2005, 01:26 PM oh nice! perhaps i will buy a samsung phone from korea In korea they use CDMA 2000 1x, even if your service provider supports CDMA 2000, i highly doubt you could use it anywhere but korea, i dont think any Korean phones have ESN numbers, which are required for activation on the network. SUNNI May 28th, 2005, 01:34 PM Damn, thats cool..but is 7mp really neccesary on a phone? good question, but id imagine its because of the still competiton in Korea, LG is also releasing a 7mp camera phone anytime soon. But it would be useful to replace poket cameras like Sony P150 which is a compact 7mp camera. SUNNI May 28th, 2005, 01:41 PM why would you want to have a 7 MP phone? It's just useless. This phone could replace the compact highresolution camera. baqthier May 28th, 2005, 04:09 PM If this phone doesn't work here, at least I have a 7mp camera! Ellatur May 28th, 2005, 04:45 PM In korea they use CDMA 2000 1x, even if your service provider supports CDMA 2000, i highly doubt you could use it anywhere but korea, i dont think any Korean phones have ESN numbers, which are required for activation on the network. actually some of my friends are already using korea-only phones here. so i dunno how they do it but i guess they can Jo May 29th, 2005, 01:51 AM Maybe it's time to call these high end mobiles a 'phonecamera' SUNNI May 29th, 2005, 10:26 AM actually some of my friends are already using korea-only phones here. so i dunno how they do it but i guess they can there are a couple of phones you can make them workable in US by Verzion, but they are mostly very old ones, u can buy them in Yongsan.. Nick in Atlanta May 29th, 2005, 10:41 PM In korea they use CDMA 2000 1x, even if your service provider supports CDMA 2000, i highly doubt you could use it anywhere but korea, i dont think any Korean phones have ESN numbers, which are required for activation on the network. CDMA is used in the US too. It was developed by an American company called Qualcomm, which makes ooooodles of money on it through patent fees. My old cell phone was a Samsung and it was on the Sprint PCS network, which used CDMA technology. The other two main technologies are TDMA and GSM. GSM came to the US from Europe where it is almost the sole system. My Cingular cell phone uses GSM and TDMA. Basically, the cell phone systems are split in half, with some using CDMA and others using GSM (and TDMA, which I don't know much about.) Nick in Atlanta May 29th, 2005, 10:48 PM Regarding camera phones putting digital cameras out of business, try to attach a lens to your camera phone. You'd look pretty funny with just a little 18-50mm lens!! Digital cameras are advancing tremendously and there's no one who can say how much data they'll be able to hold or how much detail they can collect in one picture. But, lenses are not developing any way near as quickly. They've been around for a while, and they are still using the same basic optical techniques to shrink or enlarge an image by the time it hits the camera's sensors. Basically, the cell phone systems are split in half, with some using CDMA and others using GSM (and TDMA, which I don't know much about.) yes yes i know, i never said US didnt use CDMA :).But CDMA devices in Korea are specifically designed for korea, and is restricted to any other countries; also, all CDMA devices in US need a ESN number which do not exist in Korean handsets. Heavy modifications are required in order to make it useable in the states, and the functions will be limited as US only just adopted CDMA 2000 1x EVDO technology. btw, TDMA isnt widely used. The main ones are CDMA 2000, WCDMA (UMTS) and GSM. Nick in Atlanta June 1st, 2005, 01:20 AM That's weird about not being able to use a Korean CDMA phone in the US, because I can use my GSM phone in the US (no duh) and in Europe, at least according to Cingular. SUNNI June 1st, 2005, 03:52 PM im not a geek when it comes with hardware, but you have to modify phones to make then usable in the US verzion network. Ellatur June 3rd, 2005, 12:58 AM it indeed needs hard modifications! it costs about $100+ to do it, but it can be cheaper depending on the phone and etc Cliff June 3rd, 2005, 03:24 AM Looks more like a camera with the built in phone.:D SUNNI June 4th, 2005, 02:03 AM it indeed needs hard modifications! it costs about $100+ to do it, but it can be cheaper depending on the phone and etc the phones you can modify are very limited, not all phones can be modified. Mostly outdated phones. So you shouldnt bother. ;) |
