Vietnamese masons and builders don't use bamboo, for low raise buildings, they use plain tree trunks, not only these aren't straight , they also lack flexibility and durability, particularly in humid environment . For high rise, steel poles are used, because of their low cost compared to Aluminium or galvanized matters but they also get stained rapidly under humid condition .

For these reasons, the use of combinations including bamboo and aluminium poles is the solution. What do you think ?

I think there's a safety issue with using bamboo as scaffoldings.

It's very popular in Hong Kong or even in mainland China....but I doubt about its low cost.

safety issues could be resolved by combining metallic and bamboo elements. As for the cost, bamboo's obviously cheaper and more reliable than wooden poles since the bamboo tree grows incredibly fast, up to 1 metre a day, while being much lighter, allowing easy transportation. The advantage of bamboo over plain wood is undeniable.

Vietnamese peasants constructed monkey bridges(?) (cầu khỉ ) in bamboo that last for years. Why don't we apply it to scaffoldings.
