I doubt Seville is copying a stadium which isnt even built and wasnt even thought of at the time of its completion....I would sa the later.

Same architects, so that's why there are similarities.

The Real name for this stadium is Estadio de la Catuja but is an olimpic stadium and its called always olimpic stadium here in the city because Seville was one of the cities to host the Olimpic Games in 2004, the Final Davis Cup 2004 and the IAAF in 1999 but we hosted the last one. Now is used for concerts, football match, exhibitions and others. I dont think this stadium has copied any other because this one was built before the new Peineta Madrid Stadium. By the way all my support for,

MADRID 2012!!!!!!!!

Really? Barcelona olympic stadium I think was only about 60.000 seats.

The stadium capacity is over 60.000. It was thought that the large window which is looking to the city could be a new stand with 10.000 new seats.

So the stadium is prepared to host 70.000 spectators.

not at all, but if you were smarter, you'd know that stadiums with tracks are very good for athletics but very bad for soccer. that's because the steps are far away from the field

I dont like it. It doesnt have a very modern or innovative structure, too sad building.

Svempa99
June 9th, 2005, 02:23 AM
It looks a bit simple and outdated in my view. But ok... there are nice things to say about it too. I like the simplicity of the roof. It´s minimalistic to hide the lighting and the speakers etc like this. Very neat! And I also like the sober single coloured seating. To often stadiums get ruined by ugly plastic seating, think EURO 2004 for instance.

The design of the roof reminds me of a paper lamp shade. I like it-very unique.

The main problem with this stadium is that is too underused. The two football clubs in Sevilla already have their own stadiums, and it doesn't seem like they are going to move into this one ever. I have mixed feelings about the design of this stadium, and I prefer the Peineta proposal to this one.

I don´t see the meaning of this, very nice, stadium either.
An expensive joke for a 1 time WC athletics. I thought Sevilla CF was looking serious for an expension of their stadium, maybe this one would be an option when they ´dig it out´, but I never heard there were looking for this option. With reason because their current stadium is very nice mop and it is possible to expand there, so why would they?
Also Betis has a very nice stadium, with enough options to expand there.
I am sorry for this stadium, but White Elephant Indeed.

I don´t think they should call it an olympic stadium since it never hosted olympic games.

It's called thus because the pitch fulfills the requirements to hold ALL track & field events at the olympic level (measurements & so forth).

The stadium will be used when Betis or Sevilla FC will renovate there grounds. They have the intension, but when I don't know.

The stadium of Betis is had a little renovation back in 2000 (I think). So if they want to do the rest, there's a possibility the move temporarily to this stadium
