good start on the rules, now we need to get into detail

Fusionist

POINTS :

We need a general point system ONLY for the threads that COMPETE in the OVERALL POINTS TALLY

For these :

3 points 2 point and 1 point

Each poster should have the discretion to determine in his post ( in the first post.. before people starts guessing ) as to what gets three points and what gets 2 and what gets 1

We need to see each thread CASE cy CASE yet adhering ot general OVERAL LPOINTS TALLY RULES

Apart from these : There need not be posting or point rules for threads by newbies or innovative threads

Those threads that ARE to be entered in the OVERALL POINTS TALLY should have the word (points) in thier title ?

also rules need to be drawn as to when to fgivev a clue etc.. like one clue per page or so and how many guesses per post etc ?

Ellatur
May 29th, 2005, 12:15 AM
do we HAVE to follow these pointing rules?

Fusionist
May 29th, 2005, 12:33 AM
do we HAVE to follow these pointing rules?

Nope Ellatur which is what I have been campaigning for !

The unified points tally could be for those who want to be part of it. Others can obviously post as they like. We are trying to agree on rules not to limit freedom but to make things more lively. What do you think ?

Anniyan
May 29th, 2005, 02:08 AM
Pls post only pictures of any city which is quite famous(for any reasons) in that part of the country but unknown to the world..

same way when u post pictures of any buildings, let it be any important building like monuments, unique architecture, historical importance etc

there is no use in posting some pictures of cities and buildings whic hhas no importance..this thread should be for fun and as well as educative..

Besides, it's not really summer for me. I got school now, and if that's not interfering, then I don't know what is.

Also, to be a bit honest, I'm getting bored with SSC. Possibly it's just me, but it doesn't seem as active or as cool as I remember it being.

However . . . I have decided that I owe it to you guys (and myself) to finish the second part of my GTC series.

Vacation yes...but wouldn't that be a good reason to be here even more than during the glorious days...I was in school then...

Honestly all those fights, domination attempts and pretentiousness from some of us turned me off and I stopped coming here. And for what I can see GTC is terribly boring now.

It's out, of course.

And, checking URL is stupid anyhow. GTC is just a game, don't take it too serious. Sharing pics and guessing would be fun, but not checking URL.

Sure you get points, but I don't even care about whether I get those points.

And many of you noticed: My GTC have no points after a month on this forum.
Because I don't want this to be a point competition... just guess my GTC if you like. Some of my GTC still get a lot of guesses.

Overall Tally

Maybe it would be an idea for GTC too make an overall tally.

The system would have many advantages

1. It would messure who actually is the best GTC'er (looking at points)
2. It would stimulate people to compete in every GTC series.

How do I want to achieve this?

Points system

The persons who is a leader in a tally will get 10 points. The person who is second 7 points. The person who is third 5 points. The person who is fourth 3 points. The person who is fifth 2 points.

#1=10
#2=7
#3=5
#4=3
#5=2

Which tallies will it include

In my opinion the best idea is to make a rollcall of all tallies at the moment. Tallies or GTC'ers which aren't active for 2 months already won't be included into tally.

Example

FJP's tally

Forza - 10 points
forvine - 7 points
mij 2 - 5 points
CPN - 3 points
Kuesel - 2 points

Dizflips tally

samba_man - 10 points
FJP - 7 points
forvine - 5 points
weill - 3 points
Forza Raalte - 2 points

Weills tally

forvine - 10
FJP - 7
dmg1mn - 5
Kuesel - 3
Forza Raalte - 2

Overall tally
#1 Forvine (10+5+7) 22 points
#2 FJP (7+7) 14 points
#2 Forza (10+2+2) 14 points
#4 samba_man 10 points
#5 dmg1mn 5 points
#5 mij 2 5 points
#5 Kuesel (3+2) 5 points
#8 weill 3 points

Ofcourse, this is all a proposal. So if you anybody has some feedback, corrections or is completely against the idea. Just say

I like the idea od a centralised tally but there are so many problems with it.

There are so many tally's some of them by newbies who wont update. Also some of us go on holiday or simply give up like Kuesel. So I think it is better to stick to our own tallies. :dunno:

But if everybody goes along the other idea I will not object and kep to the trend.

Forza Raalte

MattSal
August 6th, 2007, 04:06 PM
After rereading this thread I have something to say. The points systems or anything to do with GTC should NEVER be centralized. The whole point of people having their own point systems and their own series of threads is to add to the fun, variety, and friendly competition that makes this subforum so great.

When I first instituted the idea of a formal point system in my Official GTC Series of threads (yes believe it or not I was the first that I know of to do this, so anyone with a point system now owes their origins to me), it was merely to keep a tab of who was active, who was good, and who would get bragging rights at the end of the series.

Seriously, centralizing GTC would remove its fun, it would make it seem like a government, like an autocracy. As a plea and opinion from one of the oldest active GTC users, the inventor of a formal point system, and the first person to reach 100 threads in one GTC series, I ask you not to do this.

Tip 4: Do not pick the city you live in.

Picking Photos
Tip 1: Don't pick a photo showing a clearly identifiable landmark or building.
Tip 2: Don't pick a photo showing signs or writing disclosing too much information.
Tip 3: Don't pick a photo that is too small or too large.
Tip 4: Don't pick a photo that is too zoomed in or is too unspecific.
Tip 5: If you're using Google, don't pick a result off the first page.
Tip 6: And above all, don't pick a photo whose URL contains the city and/or country name.

Apart from these : There need not be posting or point rules for threads by newbies or innovative threads

Those threads that ARE to be entered in the OVERALL POINTS TALLY should have the word (points) in thier title ?

also rules need to be drawn as to when to fgivev a clue etc.. like one clue per page or so and how many guesses per post etc
