I've been there when i went to Paris last year (actually drove by it, i didn't go inside). It looks very tall coz there are no other tall buildings beside it. Very nice building, esp in person!:)

I rate in 7.5/10.

I saw it first on Sim City 3000 and I liked it very much (it have an- other color there), but when I saw it on a photo I was disappointed because of the glass. If the glass was better it would get 9,5/10 but I give it 7,5/10.

Ditto. In SC3000 it is a light tan color, here it's black. Does it look tan under certain lighting conditions? In any case, I like this building, and it's design. I give it a 7.5/10.

Some could say that, but some could mention that i'm half polish :D (i don't speak polish tho)

Anyway, If you want a complete explaination, i meant that poland is an eastern country , it doesn't belong to west europe which was considered at that time simply "Europe" since there was the whole USSR and east thing., but I'm sure you don't need any explainations since I know poles know history too ;)

But still, even without geography, it's the same case as Sears / Petronas, I consider Sears taller than petronas, and I consider Montparnasse taller than russian skyscrapers ;)

Pity they didn't keep building them this high...

Much better than most of the international style crap that was going up in the early 70's. Very similar to the commerical style which is in fashion at the moment, although the materials used for glass curtain walls and facades have improved considerably since the 1970's.

I gav eit 9, partly for the view from the top of the tower.
I went up this beauty in summer 2000, you have the most incredible perspective of the eiffel tower.
I have pics of this if anyone is interested.
Also, they let you go onto the roof, completely open air!
Much more fun than, say Tower 42 in London, where you can only peer out the window, and have a rubbish view of the gherkin!
And they have a wicked exhibition of construction pics by the cafe up top.

The facade dances with the light, and the slim mullions stand out well. It has good height, especially narrow side on, and the curves and indentations make it livelier than a plain box. It does have some sleek elegance.

BUT...
*SIGH* yet another, flat, dull roof...IMHO, one of the great banes of modernist architecture.

A reasonably good-looking skyscraper with one major problem: it's in the wrong location. It's overbearing and completely dominates that part of the city. If it was put in La Defense it would be far more appropriate.

i like the building's curve and overall shape, which definitely makes it stand out among other skyscrapers from the international style era. but like what christian said, this building doesn't stand up to the sim city version of it, which shows the building with a more gold-colored hue. the building in its current state's a bit too black.

9.5/10 fantastic building. Its got height, more so because it towers (dominates) over all the low rises around it. The curve, the side indents, all of it works together to make a fantastic memorable package. Kudos to the french for not building a plain old box when that was the accepted norm and to give themselves a doozy of "Tallest Building in the Country" But today, for the country's tallest, for a country like France, it is rather sad.

I visited Paris in 97 and went on top of the unique skyscraper building and took a picture of Paris from there, I was carefull to include the Eifel tower in this picture. When I show the picture to my friends I said and this picture is of Paris FROM the Eifel tower, and many of them didn't pay attention.

Affreux!! Vies with the hideous Beaubourg for title worst building in Paris. The best skyscraper/s in paris is the Societe Generale tours in La Defense and in comparison this if simply ugly.

Montparnesse is early 70s hideousness. 4.

I love this building. When I went to Paris for my 18th birthday I insisted that me and my parents went to the top. The view from the top floor and also from the roof are absolutely amazing.
Sitting in the cafe area with an ice cold beer looking over Paris was very special. It was also very refreshing as it was bludy hot whilst I was there. 10/10

Absolutely correct though of course it is too ugly for La Defense as well. It simply doesn't belong there in the heart of Montparnasse. it looks windwept and out of place.

I like this tower's slimmer side and it can look great at night with the space up red lights and the window lights. However, I have to be objective regarding the cladding, which could have been much better as in darker and more reflective (too often it's looking late-60s brownish) and the fact that they almost never turn on the big impressive lighting (seen it once in four years). Plus, the broad side is really unattractive and street level is terrible. If someone was ambitious, there is a lot that can be done to refurbish and improve.
