Seriously peeps - my website/ forum was attcked by someone or something yesterday exploiting some serious security holes in phpBB2 - I would advise anyone who uses such a forum, to update to the latest version as soon as possible.

Months and months of hard work for our fine city has been erased. I'm not sure what I'll do next but I'd like to thank everyone who visited and became a member.

I'll let u all know what my next move will be pretty soon.

I'm going to create something new as a result of this set - back and I was wondering.....would someone like to donate a high quality pic of Liverpool's waterfront for the main header image?

Or another image about Liverpool?

Cheers

That's very sad Kev. I'm just relieved it wasn't you personally who was attacked & hacked which is what I thought when I saw the thread title.

Hmmm, now which forumer could help you out with a skyline header I wonder? ;)

Have a gander - youre comments are appreciated :)

I'm also looking for 'contributors' to start posts off about areas of Liverpool Regeneration, conservation etc. If you would like the facility to 'start' a post off for discussion let me know.

Thought this was an appropriate tread for this news about statues being vandalised in the city centre. Pointless vandalism, and not easy to do, so lets hope they are caught on camera and publicly humiliated.

Sinister attack on city statues (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=16350168%26method=full%26siteid=50061%26headline=sinister%2dattack%2don%2dcity%2dstatues-name_page.html)

That behaviour discusts me. Why do some people want to spoil everything nice. Do they all want us all to live in a giant shit hole.

I hope they can be repaired.

Can't get very excited about it all myself, although agree with gothic that its important to keep copies. Very old and famous statues left outdoors are usually replicas, aren't they? Personally I am more concerned about people who hack at real live people on our city streets on Friday and Saturday nights. Surely just one person left to walk around with a scarred face is a bigger deal than yet another headless or armless statue of a rich Victorian tricked-up as Roman. And before the statue talibans have a go, I'm not condoning people attacking statues, just saying, for what it's worth, that in my personal opinion I'm not that bothered compared to attacks on living humans.

That goes without saying, this entire site is not as important as a human being attacked, but a statue being vandalised is relevant to this thread and site, a human, attacked is not relevant to this site. I'm a heartless bastard aren't i

This fella has set up a site to voice his outrage at the scum on our streets who take part in the vandalising of our communities:

Kev, I know it might be a bit late, but it's worth bearing in mind for the future...

I use a hosting company called ICDSoft - I also had a phbb2 forum on there.

I got an email from them on a friday night saying that they'd been informed of the security loopholes and telling me what to do to fix them. Problem is, I was out of email contact over the weekend, and to be honest, I wouldn't have had a clue how to go about fixing it.

I got an email on the sunday saying they'd fixed it for me.

I can't recommend them highly enough, if you're thinking of changing, give them a look.

You certainly have a chip on your shoulder about 'rich Victorians', Poli petal. Aye it is only a statue but if the mindless moron finds pleasure in destroying a piece of 'art' how long before he finds pleasure in doing it to a person. Therefore in my, most humble, opinion if the delinquent is caught then he/she should be given a wee dose of the birch. I doubt he/she will be back for more.

I like the idea of "scumwatch". I am convinced that a lot of people in this city will turn into vigilates soon. I lived near a park in Crosby once and my house faced onto the park entrance - every night during the winter we would have eggs and stones thrown at the house but by the time you came running out the door the twats were over the hills and far away.

I am lucky that I am able bodied and can take care of myself as far as a couple of nobhead scalls are concerned, i hate it when i see pictures of old or disabled people in the papers who have been attacked as I know that they would not have been able to defend themselves which makes this scum the biggest Sh1thouses on the planet.

What fun does anyone get from smashing stuff up that is enjoyed by others or beating up a defenceless old woman? - Some people are just F*cked up beyond redemption. Whoever does stuff like this needs to be taught a lesson big time but there is never any deterrent to anyone doing this, never mind throwing stones at peoples' houses.

Over the last few years I've felt a real sinister atmosphere whenever i'm out at night. I got attacked twice on two occasions last year whilst on nights out, the 1st scally attacked me on Dale Street when I hailed a taxi, i punched him and he fell on the floor then tried to attack me again whilst i was in the cab but i slammed the door on him, he even got up like the Terminator and ran after the cab to get me when it stopped at the lights at the HSBC. The other time I was attacked by 4 knobheads outside Burger King by Central Station, but luckily i stood my ground until the police went past.

I sympathise with the police but they seem to be so blase about it and just accept it as a way of life rather than a menace. RANT OVER!

Check out the reviews of Liverpool and it's areas on chavtowns.co.uk

The one on Croxteth is quite scathing.

Many thanks for the help, a few months ago I decided to bit the bullet and pay for the forum software that skyscraper cities uses. Much more secure and easier to manage and maintain when an upgrade becomes available. Its working a treat at the moment, fingers crossed. Any upgrades have gone without any incident. PHPBB2 was awful and very confusing.

The only positive thing about anything chav (BTW is not a phrase we use up here) is that it have become so over exposed that it has become almost a mockery of itself and therefore the hoddies will lessen in numbers but slowly.

The screffs will still be around though with the expensive dogs, quads and bikes. Tax payers money being thrwon at them hasnt helped. The best of everything they have and yet somewhere along the line they are 'deprived'. Hows that? Deprived of good parenting and role models.
