I have refrained from comment about this one for awhile b/c tow specific but unnamed forumers, who never talk about architecture, will visciously attack me for bad mouthing this lamp b/c it is in China. If you like having cutting edge stuff, you have to put up with some Kitsch too. Risk Taker May 11th, 2007, 08:25 AM where is this exactly in Zhongshan? CarlosBlueDragon May 13th, 2007, 09:09 PM great!! got construction?? already?? davidc December 11th, 2007, 12:31 AM Hi Guys, I was looking for places for my Cantonese partner and I to visit in Zhongshan about a month ago, and happened upon internet articles on the Giant King Lamp Museum, as well as this thread discussing its existance/non-existence. A friend was travelling in the Zhongshan area and told me of his visit to a five storey lamp museum during the time I was planning our trip, but this was in an existing ordinary building. We have now jetted off from Sydney to China, courtesy of Viva Macau airlines and have been to Zhuhai and travelled through Zhongshan to Foshan and Guangzhou. When asking about the Giant Lamp Musuem in Zhuhai, people looked at us like we were crazy. However, eventually news came through from a local relative of my partner, that the Giant Lamp Building had not been started but that construction was still planned and that it would be in the Guzhen area of Zhongshan. Guzhen is on the western edge of Zhongshan where it borders with Foshan. I planned to see the old city of Zhongshan later in our trip and this would have brought us closer to the Guzhen area, but alas, our plans changed and we spent more time in Macau (including time at 'The Venetian' casino another amazing development) on the way back south. Hope this information helps. Dave |
