Christos7 June 1st, 2005, 05:43 AM These pictures are from Kuvvaci who asked me to post them in our forum. They are great pics that give an image of what Athens may have looked like.
Thank you Kuvvaci!

Raleigh-NC June 1st, 2005, 04:11 PM Thanks Kuvvaci and Christos7!!! It is hard for me to picture how Athens looked thousands, or even hundreds of years ago. I am grateful for the creativity of those people who take whatever facts are known and create masterpieces that take us back in time. Sometimes, the picture looks too perfect to be believable (e.g. the harbor image), but nevertheless, this is a relaxing journey back in time. Many thanks for sharing these images :okay:

SHiRO June 4th, 2005, 07:02 PM Nice pics of ancient Athens.
I don't get why some feel the need to bring nationalistic/ethnic issues into the thread or why people respond to that with more off topic banther that doesn't belong here.
Both are equally unacceptable and therefore those posts are deleted.
Giorgio June 4th, 2005, 07:21 PM Thank you shiro

wow glory that was greece !!!
Reaper-strain September 30th, 2007, 12:12 AM The Propylea was never finished, so for a start, the entrance to the sacred rock would look more like it is today, but cleaner and not damaged. Also all the figures and marble freezes on every temple were painted bright colors. Athens was a city of pagan colors, not bleached pure white how the English and Germans taught everyone it was. It was full of traders, very dirty, but with many big temples, trading squares.
Spartan_X September 30th, 2007, 12:29 AM I dont think that the 2nd picture that shows the ancient Pireas port is very realistic. It looks more like a imaginary classical-romantic painting of the 18th century. It is very nice though, and especially the other 3 pictures are great :) Waiting for more :)
christos-greece December 15th, 2009, 07:13 PM Interesting and very nice those photos are indeed; thanks a lot, Kuvvaci :)
