Hello! Im from the Korean forum and I wanted to know few things related to Anti Semitism for my Sociology class. If you do not mind my Israeli friends, please help a poor Korean here. :sleepy:

1. What do you think about the Anti-Semitism actions?
e.g) Vendalising Jewish cemetry, I think is very cowardly and filthty actions done by socially mistreated teens.

2. How do you teach other Jewish member,to deal with Anti-Semitism?
e.g) There is a meeting every sunday afternoon where we discuss about Anti-Semitism and how we should deal with it.

3. What is his/her consequences if one Jew deals the Anti-Semitism in his/her own way?
e.g) A Jewish student murders Neo Nazi. What would happen to that student?

4. What is the normal expectation for a Jewish person when faced with Anti-Semitism?
e.g) Try to outsmart themi or just ignore them.

Thank you for reading! I know this was not so easy for you to read but thank you anyways for your effort.

the thing about anti-semitism is people are confused, i am not saying it doesn't exist, it does exist in large specially in Europe, but a large part of it comes because People hate Isreal, not Jews.

Hello waterloo,

I will answer your questions based on my way of living. Others may have differing ideas. The first thing to understand is that different people will have different ideas how to handle this issue. There is no "one way" in the Jewish world to respond to these things.

Anti-Semitic actions are horrendous things. Any type of racism is horrendous. It is unfortunate that people are indoctrinated with such hatred and assigning blame at others. So, as terrible as the actions are, it is a bigger crime that the people who are taught to hate in the way they are taught. Of course, we are only talking about vandalism to property. When injury to people takes place, that is a more serious offense.

There is no one way to deal with anti-Semitism. If the anti-Semitic acts involve personal harm to people, then we need to protect ourselves and possibly be proactive to stop attacks before they start. But in a western society, we have to depend on the law enforcement to handle the issues. The philosophical perspective always is that whatever happens to me, or to us, is for a reason; there is a personal lesson to learn.

The consequences for dealing with anti-Semitism in one's own way differ. Certainly people need to know that there are legal ramifications to our actions. Sometimes, in order to protect someone's life, those ramifications need to be accepted. But even in that case, the law will usually protect the protector. But there is no one single "correct" response, so there cultural implications within the Jewish community for individual action to stop anti-Semitism is not generally harsh.

In most cases, anti-Semitism is dealt with through education or political actions.

That may seem true where you live, but it is not true in the US and eastern and western Europe. In the US the anti-Semitic hate groups rarely, if ever, are concerned or mention Israel and the other propaganda against Israel used in the Middle East and used as an excuse somewhat in Europe. The European anti-Semitism is a continuation of hundreds of years of irrational racism, couched in religion, but based on other hatreds.
