Last two images I found on urbanplanet the first few is on the RSA website with a huge archive of pics of the construction.
gwiATLeman June 2nd, 2005, 11:19 PM When was groundbreaking on this...seems to be going up kinda slow.
astro June 3rd, 2005, 02:26 AM Awesome! She's getting on up there. :)
verycoolnin June 3rd, 2005, 02:54 AM Wow, nice tower for Mobile... how tall is it?
Raleigh-NC June 3rd, 2005, 02:18 PM I was wondering if someone was going to post some construction update photos of the RSA tower. That is an awesome skyscraper and I can't wait to see the finished product :okay: Mobile is about to boost its skyline with a fantastic addition!!!

The RSA Battle House towers web site says 745ft tall.

james2390 June 4th, 2005, 02:55 AM Nice pics, but I agree. It seems to be going slooooow.
verycoolnin June 4th, 2005, 03:20 AM 745ft, wow. Seems a bit excessive for Mobile.
AubieTurtle June 4th, 2005, 04:16 AM While this will be a nice addition to the Mobile skyline, it might end up making all the other buildings looks small and thus the skyline less impressive. This is pretty much what happened with the Montgomery skyline. The First Alabama Bank and Union Bank (yeah, I know, Regions for both of them now) buildings, along with several other unlabeled buildings of similar size gave the skyline a certain bulk. But when the RSA tower was built, it made all the other buildings look small and it made it look like Montgomery only has one tall building.
I wish the Battle House was taller or the crown smaller. There needs to be more body to the building before the setbacks of the crown start because as it is, the proportions don't look right. Not that I'm ragging on the building. In general I like it.
Crimsonblake June 5th, 2005, 10:37 PM Great building, but I have issues with the parking lot. It seems they ignored streetscape, this parking lot is about a block in size and has no apparant ground level stores. Mobile has been ignoring the pedestrian for decades.
ScraperDude June 6th, 2005, 11:30 PM Yea the parking lots sucks but hopefully this tower will fuel some development around it and infill. Ive never been in Mobile but by-passed it on I-65 and can only remember seeing two buildings on the skyline from a distance so this will be a nice addition.

Agreed. That deck is going to be another eyesore on Water St. The parking circle on the south side of the tower won't help the walkability of the area either. Unfortunately, RSA isn't known for good, pedestrian-friendly urban design.
Nick in Atlanta June 10th, 2005, 01:40 AM It is a nice looking building and it will have quite an impact on incoming ships in Mobile's harbor.

According to the tower website referenced above, the lighted crown is supposed to be visible for 30 miles, all the way from the entrance to the bay.
pawsum June 10th, 2005, 06:36 AM Is it true that this will be the tallest building in Alabama when completed? Either way, it looks great! Any city would be proud to have that as an addition to its skyline, Atlanta included!

Yes, Birmingham currently has the tallest at 454ft and 34 floors (though some have said there's a secret 35th floor).
The RSA Tower will be 35 floors and anywhere from 600-745ft (I've seen all kinds of ranges reported at different times).
ironchapman June 10th, 2005, 08:52 AM I love the idea behind it. Nice building, too.
What's it supposed to house?

LSyd June 10th, 2005, 06:15 PM nifty update, but isn't there a P&C forum for such things?
