The difference between San Diego and LA County is that the sprawl does not go much more than 15 miles inland. Alpine and Ramona are the farthest inland sprawl but Eastlake is forbidden from sprawling past that lake.

Who knows what might happen in the future, I doubt sprawl will go back past that road into the thin little valleys around the bend.

In LA places like San Dimas, Corona, etc. are WAY far inland compared to anything in SD County. I guess Temecula is pretty far inland though, that just dawned on me.

Has the whole "Temecula is part of the San Diego Metro" argument been played out on this forum. In the past I have had very long discussions on ssp.com about the 350,000 people dwelling in Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Wildomar, and Temecula being in the SD Metro. They most certainly identify more with San Diego and are mostly ex San Diegans escaping the housing crunch.

Here's a few pics of that neighborhood that my Uncle sent me when it almost burned down from the wild fires:

He's moving to Japan for the Navy, and believe it or not, he had his house listed for sale for $900K, but he had to drop it down to $800,000 or so because he needs to move by the end of June. He's quoted in a San Diego tribune article about the housing market in San Diego.

The house in the center is my Uncle's.

tried to post reply earlier, if duplicated, please forgive....

Eastlake is a nice part of Chula Vista. I used to live in Rancho del Rey, a few miles away. The cost of living there is absurd though. Why someone would pay over half a million dollars for a basic planned community home is beyond me! :eek2:

That's why I moved from Chula Vista to Vegas a couple years ago. The homes are bigger and cost half as much (until recently). Right now though, Vegas is the second fastest growing city for home appreciation in the West! Pretty soon, we'll be paying as much as you.

The best part about East Chula Vista are the jogging/biking trails. Their everywhere over there. The second best thing is it's proximity to Mexico. I miss going to Puerto Nuevo for lobster....sniff.

^Those fires were some wild times...very scary. I remember going down the I-5 and seeing nothing but black and a red sun...uhhh...That was deffinetly the worst type of wild fire.

But back to sprwal...it sucks :colgate:

sdtj-

It would be cool if you could take pics of the older neighborhoods of CV, too.

Looks like most other new suburban tracts built in the last 10 years but a little nicer. I wish they would hire some better architects to give the houses some style to them.

Those fires were ridiculous. It was like the end of the world.

That is where my Dad lives. he got evacuated from the fires and came to live with me, with his Girlfriend. I went up to Eastlake the day they got the evacuation alert. The fire was so close, that I decided to turn back.. I got the worst case of butterflies in my stomach and the shivers..
