View Full Version : Qantas Aborigonal Jumbo
Aussie Bhoy June 3rd, 2005, 10:05 AM Doesn't really bother me, I like the classic Qantas white aircraft, red kangaroo tail look.
BA aircraft look much better in their traditional red, white, blue look as well. They tried going trendy tails for a while.
Pan-Am had one of the best looks of any airline.
,Samantha! June 3rd, 2005, 10:07 AM Hi everyone
A bit of what i think, is sad news today. My friend who is a flight attendant for Qantas said they are scrapping the blue aborigonal jumbo, and had no plans of repainting another aircraft in the same colours. I was always fond of that plane, even though i thought those colours would have suited Ansett better. Oh well then, what do you guys think.
Perth4life14 June 3rd, 2005, 10:15 AM i like the red aboriginal plane, btw is this something wrong with posting because on my screen it has aussie boy before samanthas post :S
nikko June 3rd, 2005, 10:41 AM the clocks are fucked.
And sad news about the Aboriginal livery.
no name June 3rd, 2005, 10:56 AM I've always liked the red one better than the blue one.
They are scrapping the blue one so soon? It's currently in Avalon getting Skybeds and new seats fitted isn't it?
abc June 3rd, 2005, 12:38 PM Alot of folk in QF refer to the three painted aircraft as MABO 1, 2 and 3.
The Blue one was due to be retired within the next 2 years, but that has now has been put back with the delay to the a-380's.. the 300's will be the first go, and then the 400's..
From memory, they're painted at shop in the US.
hornetfig June 3rd, 2005, 01:00 PM The first message has been pulled?

No. Messages are out of order.
AUboy June 3rd, 2005, 03:49 PM The plane is in heavy maintenance and needs a new paint job anyway. It was hardly worth re painting it in that scheme that actually weighs a considerable amount more than a standard livery.
KIWIKAAS June 3rd, 2005, 10:20 PM They are scrapping the blue one so soon?
Those aircraft have been in those colours for about 5 years now.
hornetfig June 4th, 2005, 07:05 AM No. Messages are out of order.
ok I follow now
nagelixin June 4th, 2005, 01:09 PM It's good that they are going, cost savings, plus a flying eyesore.
Gertzy June 5th, 2005, 07:25 AM Wunala And Yanyaji Dreaming will still be flying don't forget.
Wunala - first appeared on 747-400, now on a 747-400ER.
Yanyaji - 737-800 VH-VXB
I call them Mabo (Blue Torres Strait Design), Bonner (Wunala red design) and Dingo (Yanyaji Dreaming orange design)
So Technically, Qantas still has Aboriginal (correct spelling for the person who wrote the title) Designs, but the Torres Strait design is leaving.
Wezza June 5th, 2005, 11:17 PM The aircraft in question is called "Nalanji Dreaming" in case anyone was wondering. I never liked the scheme anyway.
