SoroushPersepolisi July 5th, 2011, 08:36 PM yea but they are more focused on planes, not the airport and its construction etc

Herbicide March 21st, 2012, 03:00 AM On google earth you can see the construction of the metro line at the airport.
Big Abdul March 22nd, 2012, 02:59 PM You know the metro should not take too long, I was doing some Charity work in Kahrizak yesterday, yes I know St Abdul. Anyway I go on the tube from Haft e Tir, and it took me not very long at all to get down there, though Kahrizak is reminiscent of one of the garages you see on the french autoroutes it was pretty tidy looking. Either way I think with the metro heading down to the Airport it is going to cause a heap of problems of people with loads of bags.
Herbicide March 22nd, 2012, 03:54 PM ^^ Yes I think it would have been better, cheaper and easier just to run an electric commuter line from the central station out to the airport specially for airline passengers with trains allowing generous luggage stowage room. The main railway line runs right by the airport so all it would have taken would have been a short line from that to the airport terminal and electrifying the short distance between the airport and Central Station.
Big Abdul March 22nd, 2012, 07:29 PM Maybe they will have the fast more expensive option like the old Intercity that we had in the UK and then the cheap metro one where you take a gamble if someone doesnt shout at you for your suitcase. :)
Ze Carlos_Ze March 22nd, 2012, 08:53 PM so a tehran meto line is built in order to connect it to the khomeini airport?^^
Aerithia March 22nd, 2012, 09:09 PM so a tehran meto line is built in order to connect it to the khomeini airport?^^It seems so.
In my opinion they should build a railway there with an express train instead, so just like Big Abdul stated people would have more room for luggage etc.
However, atleast taking the Metro there would be better than taking the car, if you look at the air pollution problems Tehran and it's environment has.
maniei May 22nd, 2012, 07:28 PM I think there MUST be both
-a railway connection, so that the airport is connected also by long-distance trains
-the Metro.
IKIA is the only decent international airport in Iran. So Iranians from all over the land there, but want to travel on to their home cities. Thats what makes a railway connection so important.
The new Berlin international airport has its train-station with 6 platforms already finished. The new airport will be conncected by S-Bahn (commuter), regional trains and long-distance trains (high-speed).
on the luggage-problem:
if they would buy more rolling stock and increase the frequency of Metro-trains to 2,5 minutes in rush-hours and at least every 10 mins at other times, you would have enough room for your luggage.
Those who have really a lot of luggage should take a car/Taxi to the airport, simply.
But I'm just glad they are building the Metro finally. Well done!
A seperated train-stration can follow of course.
If I'm not mistaking a Tehran-Esfahan high-speed-track is planned. So in the course of this project they could give the airport its train-station, and having it connected via all types of railway there exist.
maniei May 22nd, 2012, 07:29 PM On google earth you can see the construction of the metro line at the airport.
could you post a screenshot of that please?

They should plant greenery between the runways and paths. There is sand on them:ohno:
Herbicide May 22nd, 2012, 09:28 PM could you post a screenshot of that please?

GHORMEH SABZi May 23rd, 2012, 07:58 AM i would like to know who were the people behind designing and engineering this airport?
TEHR_IR May 23rd, 2012, 11:09 AM ^^
It was a french architect, and he failed, this Airport is far from world class, when I was at the airport, it was raining, the rain felt from the roof into the airport, shame...
this was just one example
