View Full Version : NFL
PotatoGuy June 8th, 2005, 01:31 AM Where do u think the NFL should move to: Anaheim, LA, or Pasadena? (i heard carson was out of the picture but if i'm wrong go ahead and vote for it) Also, if you could, give your reasons
I personally think Anaheim, mainly because i live here ;) and because there's already two stadiums near the site which would make it like a little sports capital thing, so it'd be pretty cool. The Angel's (ANAHEIM Angels, not LA) already has a metrolink and amtrak station nearby and there are plenty of freeways so the location itself is good.
VansTripp June 8th, 2005, 03:23 AM Carson
Jasonhouse June 8th, 2005, 03:27 AM Wherever the stadium could be centrally located, and have rail transit access. (preferably a large capacity stop right at the stiduim)
soup or man June 8th, 2005, 05:15 AM Ok..
For the longest time there was 4 sites for a possible football stadium: A football stadium at the Angel's Stadium parking lot, a site in Carson, The Coliseum, and the Rose Bowl.
Anaheim, and Carson already pulled out of the running so it seem as though the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl are left.
Why don't people realize that the Coliseum is the best bet? 5 minutes south of downtown, and will be soon connected by the Expo Line. What's so hard to understand what the Coliseum is the place to be?
Carson? Pfft. The stadium would be on a toxic dump.
VansTripp June 8th, 2005, 05:18 AM Carson ain't bad for NFL stadium but Jets and Giants is from suburb of NYC.
PotatoGuy June 8th, 2005, 07:18 AM Carson is out for the stadium.. read..

LosAngelesSportsFan June 8th, 2005, 07:39 AM The rose bowl pulled out today, becuase of opposition from the neighbors. Carson pulled out months ago and will build a mall there instead. it is now between the colosium and Anaheim, and more than likley, the NFL will once again postpone the process to bring in other sites so that they can squeeze out more money by putting all the sites againts each other.
The Colosium is the best bet. its in a central location near freeways and will be soon connected to the LA rail system with a stop in the park, the area around teh stadium is rapidly being imrpoved and has millions invested in it, it si close to a rejuvinated and booming DT LA, and lastly its in LA!.
In my opinion, LA will get an exoansion team for the colosium and then a few years down the line, Anaheim will get a relocated team. The league views LA as a two team market (rightfully so) and will ahve two teams here in the next 10 - 15 years.
5thandSpring June 8th, 2005, 11:21 AM The Coliseum. AEG is certainly betting on it. The signs are already up all along Figueroa, reading "Figueroa Corridor". A friend of mine was visiting his alma mater, USC, when he noticed the signs. He was laughing about it, "There's nothing there, what corridor are they talking about? Strip malls?" When I told him about the AEG press event where Leiweke talked of building the "Figueroa Corridor", (http://5thandspring.blogspot.com/2005/04/big-plans-for-south-park.html) stretching from Staples Center to the Coliseum, he said , "Oh yeah. That makes sense." That's pretty much the equivalent of being up at bat and pointing at the stands with your bat, isn't it? Build the signs first, signifying your intentions?
VansTripp June 8th, 2005, 06:20 PM How about build new NFL stadium behind of Staples Center and LA Convention Center or in center of Van Nuys? That's my opinion.
PotatoGuy June 9th, 2005, 05:06 AM ^ = yeah, it would be pretty cool if they could build one near the staples center in DTLA, i would vote for that over anaheim and coliseum
soup or man June 9th, 2005, 08:29 AM There was a proposal for a football statium back in 1999 in downtown but it fell through when the NFL gave a football team to Houston. Elleven sits in it's place.
Van Nuys? Why there?
CarsonCaliBrotha June 9th, 2005, 09:08 AM Ok..

Such a dumb statement, the site they wanna build it on is just one big ass field with nothing on it but two trails. But there wouldn't be any freeway connectivity.
soup or man June 9th, 2005, 05:08 PM They are going to build a large mall in it's place.
ProdigalLASon June 10th, 2005, 01:11 AM Said field in Carson was once a toxic landfill. Part of Carson's bid involved an environmental impact report including the cost to clean up the land. That extra cost on top of the cost for a new stadium was part of the reason Carson was having such a hard time selling its proposal.
