Smoky Mountain Mini-Con 23 in Knoxville a few weeks ago; for most of them, i avoided using my flash because i hate the reflection it makes, and it also ruins the shadows. these are my favorite pics of what i found most interesting at the show - ARMOR!!! so much grittier and dirtier than planes and cars, so it's more fun to beat up a tank. and armor goes better with figures.

my tank, a Tiger I in north africa, 1:72 scale, it got an honorable mention (i was the only one in 1:72, the small scale, with the balls to put a figure on their vehicle)

I LOVE MODEL TANKS!!!!!

Why 1:72? Those are so tiny.

thanks.

1. takes less time; i can do one in a weekend, even when adding details, like to that Tiger
2. cheaper
3. takes up less room and resources to build and display

i've gone back mostly to 1:35, but the build time's gone up drastically.

i should've brought my 1:16 King Tiger with me, but i didn't want to leave it in my car going from Birmingham to Nashville over night, then to Knoxville.

I once made models myself... made a whole village with soldiers and tanks and things... All in 1:72... I like the smaller ones, because they are a greater challenge to make and paint, and are as you mentioned easier to make... I also have a lot of soldiers and buildings (1:72). I'll see if I can find some pictures. But yours are FAR better than mine, you made them as realistic as they can get... WONDERFUL JOB ;)
