Ah, that picture must've been taken from the north side of Lanzhou :) Lanzhou is a pretty unique city, it's MUCH MUCH MUCH wider (east-west) than it's tall (north-south) as it's caught in a valley. The Lanzhou airport is also quite far away from the city itself. When I was there, a highway linking the city and the airport was still under construction, I wonder if it's finished yet.

Impressive skyline! I'd like to visit Lanzhou, for my goal of seeing the authentic 兰州拉面; I already had many bowls in Tianjin, so I wonder how the original would taste :D.

I'm also surprised to see those pics. I've never been to Lanzhou but I know Gansu is the one of the two poorest provinces in China (the other is Guizhou Province).

^^I bet after Chongqing boom we will see a Lanzhou boom, the geography is similar, there's more economic "potential" (unfortunately meaning it's not rich yet) and the density of Lanzhou seems to be getting to Chongqing levels :cheers:. I hope to see many supertalls here, the geography is just perfect :D.

I don't think lanzhou can reach the level of chongqing in terms of skyscrapers but it can grow itself to a very unique city.
