July, 2004 Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium‏:

The government of Kuwait recently awarded a contract to the local AL-KHARAFI GROUP for the construction of a new sports stadium. According to the terms of the award AL-KHARAFI will be responsible for building a state-of-the-art stadium that will have an installed seating capacity of 60,000 fans.

Construction plans call for building what is claimed to be one of the finest stadiums in the Middle East where all the fans will have their own rotating plastic seat,over an area of 400,000 square meters. ‏
‏Construction is due to be completed by October 2006.‏
‏The stadium is to be the heart of an entire sports city that includes ‏
‏multi-purpose courts and halls as well as an Olympic pools complex and parking ‏‏for over 6500.‏

The 10-gate facility is designed like a traditional Kuwaiti Boum (type of ‏
‏dhow) from lateral view. As to top view, the design resembles a horse saddle. ‏
‏The design thus represents something from both the marine and desert ‏
‏environment. Inside the stadium, there are two big display screens.‏

our team sucks right now, but dont forget our team's history is very good.

1980 Asian Champions
1982 World Cup Qualifiers 1-1 Czech, 1-4 France, 0-1 England

Our team hardly lost to England and France had some dude behind the Kuwait goal who cheated by blowing the whistle each time.

9 times Gulf Cup winners

I think those old stars atleast deserve a decent stadium for Kuwait, and a big step for improving Kuwait's football is building a proper stadium

Regardless of how good the national team is. Each country needs a good stadium. Im just waiting on to see if bahrain has any plans to build a new stadium. ITs very much needed, espically if bahrain qualifies to the world cup.

I fully agree. Another thing which makes my feel proud of your country is how its properly maintaining things. The stadiums are very contemporary-looking, clean, properly maintained, and serve as 6-star stadiums, able to compete with European stadiums.

Not to mention, Qatar is effectively caring for the contract they have with their cleaning companies. One thing worrying me about building 2 new massive stadiums in Kuwait is that all this hard work and effort will go down the drain because we wont take care of it. We'll probably leave it to rot, sign the cheapest cleaning contract, with the cheapest private cleaning company, with an annual inspector who arrives for 10 minutes only, you get the picture.... :rofl:

Kuwait :Racing ahead

Construction on the colossal Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium is currently ahead of schedule with 50 per cent of the work already completed, according to the main contractor Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al Kharafi & Sons.

The scale of the project is such that massive volumes of construction materials and levels of services are required by the development – all of which are being provided by the umbrella companies within this leading construction group.
The Kuwaiti contractor commenced work on its latest high-profile project in September last year under a KD55.25 million ($189.2 million) contract, which is due for completion by December 2006
The state-of-the-art sports stadium, which will host 60,000 spectators, has a unique external design with an in-situ concrete frame dramatically supported on piled foundations with a cable-supported tensile fabric roof and internal holographic glass cupolas.
“This prestigious project will provide both athletes and spectators with the finest facilities and services that can be found anywhere in the region,” says a spokesman for M A Kharafi. “The internal section of the stadium has been designed on four levels, providing plenty of circulation and recreational space via two main concourses for spectators. The stadium also includes an additional entrance, a reception and lounge for VIPs as well as 48 corporate boxes. In addition, the complex includes a sports museum.”
Ample provision has been made for car parking, with some 5,750 parking spaces fed by direct road access from the main expressways. Direct access – via an internal road network – has also been provided to the actual stadium for the athletes, VIPs, emergency services, security services and local deliveries. The athletes’ zone, located on the ground floor, has luxurious changing facilities, a swimming pool, training pitches and a training track.
“Another remarkable aspect of this project is that the MA Kharafi Group has been able to keep all aspects of the construction of this stadium almost totally in-house, with group companies contributing the materials and services required to undertake this landmark project,” the spokesman points out.
“As a Grade A international contractor, what makes us different from other contractors is our vertical integration,” he adds.
The companies within the group that are contributing their products and services to the project are:
• Aluminum Industries – is providing all the aluminum fixtures and fittings;
• Kuwaiti British Readymix – is supplying all the concrete;
• Kharafi National – is providing all the electro-mechanical work and services;
• Al-Bahar Jacarossi – is responsible for fabrication, supply and erection of the steel;
• Al-Alamiah – is manufacturing and supplying precast concrete elements;
• MAK Special Projects – is handling the insulation and waterproofing works.
The massive scale of the project can be better appreciated from some of the quantities of the material that is being used for the project:
• 500,000 cu m of excavation and backfilling – of which 450,000 cu m has already been completed (daily production rate peaking at 6,000 cu m);
• 7,800 m of cast-in-place piles (of 900 mm and 2,000 mm diameter), which were completed in two months;
• 120,000 cu m of reinforced concrete – of which 110,000 cu m has been cast (daily production rate peaking at 500 cu m);
• Production of 29,000 sq m of precast concrete bleachers completed, of which 14,000 sq m has already been erected on site;
• 7,600 m of external stormwater pipeline, which is being laid for the external car-park area;
• 260,000 sq m of asphalt paving under way;
• 44,000 sq m of masonry work – of which 20,000 sq m has been completed;
• Fabrication of 44,000 linear m of stainless steel pipe railing, which is in progress at one of the group’s factories;
• 4,076 sq m of illuminated holographic glass, which is being manufactured;
• 22,500 sq m of marble and granite, which is being processed;
• 60,000 stadium seats, which are currently being manufactured for delivery in 2006;
The cable support structure is covered with 45,000 sq m of fabric material, the compression ring of which weighs approximately 1,768 tonnes and the cable weighs 350 tonnes.
“Working to the futuristic design from Weidleplan of Germany, in conjunction with Al Saif Engineering of Kuwait, the M A Kharafi Group is extremely proud of this project which will not just bring some of the finest sporting events and athletes from around the world to Kuwait but will also provide excellent sporting facilities for the young, aspiring athletes of Kuwait for generations to come,” the spokesman concludes.

even though ,im not very familiar with the case

the million m2 is a west land there is no harm if the government give away to the private sector under BOT trems to developed it into something useful for the economy .

the main dilemma is that kuwait government owen over 94% of the land , how do you expect the private sector to invest in kuwait !! :runaway:

How many stadiums does kuwait already have?
Ive seen just one.
I hope that tis stadium will be maintained properly. I noticed that a forumer had concerns about this. I wish we could address these concerns to some authorities as well. It doesnt make sense to build something this nce and then let it rot.

Is this stadium in Jleeb??? I went theer once, yeah its the most crowded place on earth I would guess. I noticed open sewages etc. Its probably the worst place in Kuwait right???? Wish they could do something about it.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will inaugurate the Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium later this year, said Wednesday the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad.

Speaking to reporters while touring the Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium project, he commended efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and said that the stadium would be an architectural masterpiece.

The government is to propose a number of mega-projects in the future, he said.

Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, whose construction began early last year, is made up of four floors built over 400,000 square meters. The KD 55.250 million project accomodates 60,000 fans and 6,500 cars.

The stadium is made up of a main sports field surrounded by an exercise track and linked to external courts, as well as a swimming pool, a convention hall, and police and first aid facilities.

well i think that the stadium is not much, the name of shekh jaber diserves 2 be named on something bigger and better.

plus, ppl plz look at the location of the project it's stupid, and only like 7000 car parking for 60000 ppl in the stadium i dont think that the parking lots are enough, and i dont think that this thing has been studied really well

does anyone know what kind of stadiums they will build in madinat hareer. and when. also will there be any other stadiums apart from jaber el ahmad outside of silk city?

I think we should build some smaller but nicer ones as too many big ones might not be needed in the near future (20,000 - 35,000)
I saw this thread on small stadiums and some of them looked pretty impressive despite being small.

also, i just heard in the news al ahly in jeddah signed figo :nuts:

I prefer they choose two good European sides for the opening game. Like Chelsea vs Man UTD, or Real Madrid vs Barcelona, etc.

If they want to pick Kuwait then its good if they choose a good Kuwaiti rival. Like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc.

But if you guys want to see Kuwait winning then we MUST play Bangladesh LOL. Theyre the only guys we might stand a chance with... MIGHT! :D

Remember what I said folks, Bangladesh might win 1-0 in the 90th minute. GOAL!!! And all the janitors celebrate!:banana:

The Jaber Stadium is in the final stages of completion and is expected to be handed over to the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) at the previously designated date, the Ministry of Public Works said on Saturday.

Project supervisor engineer Nabil Makki told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the stadium''s design was unlike any other in the region, making it one of its kind in the Middle East.

"The Jaber Stadium''s design has been inspired by traditional Kuwaiti dhows and provides the highest level of sports requirements to meet international standards," Makki added.
He highlighted the fact that the stadium was constructed according to international standards and was expected to become one of Kuwait''s landmarks.
The stadium is the first part of a sports city that will soon be constructed over 400,000 square meters located along the Sixth Ring Road.

The stadium accommodates 60,000 seats with 300 allocated for the disabled and people with special needs, 750 for VIPs, 250 for the press and 600 special cabins. The parking lot can hold 6,500 cars.

He also noted that emergency exits allowed the evacuation of 60,000 people in eight minutes.

Makki explained that the stadium consisted of a major soccer field measuring 105 by 68 meters, surrounded by a fiveـmeter track for athletic games linked to a tunnel that led to other outdoor fields furnished with all needed services to each sport staff and teams members.

The project began in 2004 and that the Ministries of Information, Health, and Interior, as well as the Amiri Guards, special task forces and the Fire Department were all asked for their input and recommendations.

Project deputy supervisor engineer Raheema Abdullah said that the stadium was almost completed, noting that certain adjustments recommended by PAYS were all that needed to be implemented.
"The stadium will be ready by December 2008," she said.

The project was supervised by Ministry of Public Works in cooperation with PAYS. ـKUNA

^^

1. If the picture is already located somewhere, then right click on it in the internet browser, select properties, and, copy the "Location"

If it is your own picture, you need to first upload it to an photo uploading website, such as, http://www.photobucket.com

You can sign up with them and upload your images there.

From there, you can right click on the image, select properties, and, copy the "Location".

Come to this forum, hit reply, and, in the message composer, click on the "Insert Image" button. This button looks like:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/images/editor/insertimage.gif

2. Some websites, such as photobucket, also have an IMG CODE next to the picture as well, click on it, copy it, and, just paste it directly in the reply box here.
