The Republic of Korea - DaeHan Minguk. The history and culture just inspires me. Besides, Vietnam and Korea shared a very similar historical pattern.

Egypt - Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Great Pyramids, cruise on the river Nile
Bahamas - Sun and sand, scuba diving

But the best of all:
South Korea - Changduk palace, Dae Jang Geum film set, Korean food, Jeju island.

Thanks for having favorable views of Korea...
I personally think/feel that S. Korea is in `moral' debt to Vietnam and should
do more to collaborate with Vietnam to develope.

Yes I think so too. S Korea still owe Vietnam a debt over the Vietnam war, but being forgiving people that we are, let's just say we'll forgive but won't forget.

Saigon_monsooner, I've been to a few countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the USA and Canada. Mostly for visiting relatives.

Next trip would be Vietnam, then Beijing in 2008 (hopefully) and then Dubai, Cambodia etc.

< What did the Koreans do during the Vietnamese war?

LacLongQuan

South Korean contingent was the second largest foreign force that faught for the South Vietnamese regime during the Vietnam War. In all 300,000 South Koreans served in Vietnam.

They were known to have been even more ruthless than the Americans and many massacre incidents against Vietnamese villages occurred. Villagers (women, children and the elderly and all) were not spared if it was suspected that they were aiding the Viet Congs.

South Koreans often boast about their killing ratio against northern Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces of 1:25 but they were inflated (like the US did) and included civilian casualties.

I noticed you like Sweden because of living conditions. Well, it is better in many other European countries actually, but I guess Sweden is ok, except for the climate.

My fav countries are:

Sweden - well, I'm from here.
Denmark - Copenhagen, coolest city in the world.
Vietnam - Friendly people, beautiful sceneries, HCMC!, interesting history.
Thailand - It is so perfect..
China - Greatest in the world, in all aspects.

well... well.... very unfortunate events took place during the `heat' of cold war...
I assume that many(if not most) forumers here live in US,Australia,France, etc... but these countries are quite arguably the most hypocrate of all... and still too `proud' to say they made mistakes... if any..

My top pick is Canada... liberal democracy, very nice people,
awsome landscape, etc....

apart from Vietnam, I pick Japan over the rest. This country's got everything is needed for a country, I've been to this country once and their modernity and politeness impress me alot, the street is spotless and clean, tradition architectures are well-maintained, transportation is amazing, this country is very culturally rich not to mention Japanese girls are so ....hot, everyone seems well-dressed.

I'm never been to Korea but this nation seems to share lots of similar points with Vietnam, both countries suffered civil war (to a certain extent) and both Vietnam and Korea border China to the north...I like Korea.

China - i love the culture, its rich history, the language, girls,.... but not the gov and its regime.
France - French is a romantic language. I love Paris so much!
Singapore - love to love this peaceful multi-cultured country.
Vietnam - same as china.
Japan also, for their charismatic characteristics.

Here are my votes:
1st favorite destination: ITALIA (nice foods, rich cultures, magnificient architectures, especially men-fashions, wow)

2nd place: SPAIN (nice night clubs, charming beaches, sexy babes all around smiling with you)
3rd place: GRECEE (alots spots to see, many cute girls in dark hairs, big hips, hehehe)

I dont know why many people here like Japan?? I stayed here for 2 weeks back to 2005 (Fukuoka City). My God, it was not the same I imagined about one country. Here in Japan, everythings are perfect like details in the HONDA Engine. I doubt i can find any bad things about this country. But, this was only my feelings in the first 2 days. After that, I found it was so hard if i was to live here the rest of my life. The nightlife here in Japan (Fukuoka City, I have no experience in other parts of Japan like Tokyo) was nothing compared with that in Milan, Madrid, Athens, even in HCMC. hehehe

Yeah, It is exactly what i'm trying to say about Japan: BORING and BORING like what is said in the SCHOOL TEXT BOOKS. Japan is something like a TEXT BOOKS. All most school boys do not like TEXT BOOKS. Instead, they like sitting down in front of Computer playing games. Hehehe, MILANO, PARIS, MADRID ....are powerfull computers with alots of interesting games stored in side. ENJOYYYYYYYYY>>>>

Japan is boring ? contrary to your thought, I think Japan is one of most busy places you can find on this earth, my friend has lived in Japan for almost 5 years and he said it's most stressful place in the world, no one works as hard as the Japanese, they work their ass off to get where they're today, I've been to Chiba and saw how crazy their rail station was at rush hour, the streets are full of automobiles but are always orderly controlled, the city is not a mess though it's so dense with large population. Everything is modern, even...toilet, automatic toilet that I've never seen anywhere else, beer machine, hi-tech stuff. It's like perfect combination of modernity and tradition. At night, the streets with full neon lights flow out amazingly. I have a feeling Japan's so perfect, the people, the culture, the economy, most famous Asian talents were born here, most won Nobel prize country of Asia. Japanese people have alot to proud of.

I saw somewhere on this forum where there's poll to vote which is most futuristic city in the world, Tokyo gets it. If I get chance, I'll definitely visit city, largest city in terms of economy, population, size...

Well, this is the typical thread where no matter what you say, you'll write a lot of stupid stereotypes, I'm sorry if somebody feels steretyped by my post.

My top 10.

- Spain. My home country. Spain is like a top model who has just got up so that she looks terrible despite of being full of beauty. It really needs to get ready so that it can show how great she is, after we do this we'll be almost perfect. But hell, we'd really need many hours in the beauty salon before we got ready! :D

- China. The country of hugeness, I love it for so many reasons. People, language, food, history, Han boys, landscapes, diversity... and of course skyscrapers.

- Russia. Amazing country full of personality. Its contributions to western literature and classical music have no rival.

- Singapore. Far from being perfect, Singapore is still the most ideal city/country I've ever heard of. I like your style, babe.

- Japan. The land of modern sophistication, Japan should be the mirror where every single country measures its own level of development. Sushi :D

- Germany. Europe's most interesting country imo. Amazing history (before WWI, not interested in 20th century at all), and excellent literature, music and philosophers.

- Argentina. My favourite country in the southern hemisphere. Buenos Aires is also my favourite city of the western civilisation.

- Israel. World's most courageous country.

- Iceland. Excepting for cold weather and lack of big cities, this country is very close to perfection too imo.

- Norway. Same as Iceland.
