This is one of the projects of Basak (http://basak-inc.com/) in Kish island.

A man-made island, 150 meters offshore, was created by a Dutch company and now the hotel is being constructed on it with the supervision of a Canadian company and consultation of Iranian engineers.

The hotel is to be built in 20 floors with 200 rooms, three indoor restaurants and some floating restaurants beside the building. In addition to the hotel complex which is expected to cost $30m, other recreational centers have been also considered in the project including a play ground, golf field and shopping center. Recreational boats will shuttle passengers from the hotel toward the coast and a sea park will be constructed beside the hotel.

unfortunately the design is average
and the island should be larger

It looks like a copy of Burj al-arab in Dubai :D
Not that it's bad, though...

It doesn't look like Burj Al Arab, except that it's on a small man-made island off the coast.

Anyway it doesn't change the fact that it has been inspired by Burj al-arab!

Kish VIP Project (Lotus Recreational Complex)

This great project is going to be built on a piece of Land about 15 hectares, with its offshore 5 Star hotel about 150 meters from the sea shores. Lotus Hotel would be the first offshore project for visitors of kish Island, where Iranian’s and Canadians engineers have are working together and have completed the designing of the Hotel of 20 floors, with more than 200 rooms and suits. In addition, about 65 villas will be built onshore in the vicinity of lotus Hotel, with all necessary facilities including service sector, Gym and sports complex recreation buildings and various restaurants which will support the hotel and villas. Construction of the artificial island, which will make space for the Hotel and Lotus tower is underway, hopefully would be decided by the 2nd quarter of 2006.

Countdown to Death of Kish Coral Colonies
Splendid coral colonies around Kish Island are under immense threat from a hotel construction project in the east as well as a port development project in the north of the island, viewed as the Persian Gulf’s most important coral habitat, ISNA wrote.
According to deputy head of the Department of Environment’s Office for Marine Environment, Kish Free Zone Organization has authorized the hotel project in the island’s easternmost point without consulting the DoE, ISNA quoted.
Omid Seddiqi insisted that DoE would do its best to prevent further drying up of the water and destroying of coral reefs.
He regretted, “This is actually the only remaining area where high-quality coral life is still found. Much to the consternation of environmental experts, KFZO has authorized a hotel construction project right in this spot.“
The Lotus Hotel project, a foreign venture, is to progress into the Persian Gulf by 300 meters for which an area of 10,000 sq.m. needs to be dried up, he exclaimed.
“The project counselors have already prepared the executive plan,“ he said, predicting that thousands of cubic meters of soil would have to be poured into the sea.
Seddiqi also said a map of environmentally sensitive coastal areas for design and construction is being plotted.
He also referred to unbridled development in north of the island, adding vast expanses of coral reefs had been destroyed due to sea pollution, tourism projects as well as port and pier constructions.
“We are determined to halt any destructive measures in the country’s southern shores by private and state organizations,“ he concluded.

^^ That's bad! :ohno: But they should have done an environmental setup first like they did between Qatar and Bahrain--where there is a verylarge coral reef colony.
