Kish Island is a resort island lapped by the sheltered waters of coral-edged lagoons, home to many of the world's spices of reef fish. Snorkeling in Kish is amongst the best in the world, whilst scuba diving offers an even more spectacular insight of life beneath the waters. The island has its own PADI/SSI Dive Center.
A variety of other water sports are also available. Jet-skiing, sailing, fishing, parasailing, reef walking, coral viewing, boating and water skiing are just a few.
All together, Kish Island offers a variety of cultures, scenery, sports, duty-free shopping and entertainment.

The topography of the Island is such that the surface water flows to a certain part in the north called the Portuguese Valley. That area is naturally vegetated and one of the Island's oldest lour trees is there. Around this tree the Deraxt-e Sabz (The Green Tree) Park has been created.

Many years ago, a Greek cargo ship approached Kish for unknown reasons. It ran aground and was unable to leave. The name of the ship is Kula F. It is a mountain of steel; behind which the sun hides and in the moonlight it looks like a floating giant.
Apparently the absence of lighthouse was the reason the ship ran aground. Apparently all attempts to float it again were fruitless and failed. And now that there is nothing left of it but a huge steel structure.

Forza Raalte November 14th, 2005, 10:59 PM It looks beautiful, I know this place because somebody did a GTC of it once but I think 99% of the people in the forum don't know this place. What kind of tourists come to this place, are they mainly from the Mid-East or are there people from Europe and the US?
Gilgamesh November 14th, 2005, 11:04 PM ^ Mostly Iranians but also a few people from the neighbouring countries. There are plans to attract western tourists, we will have to see how that goes though. :)
Gilgamesh November 14th, 2005, 11:09 PM This place has existed in Kish Island for the past 3,000 years. People of Kish used the wells for access to sweet water for drinking and normal usage.
The wells were connected via underground tunnels to the next. The tunnels, sometimes 10 meters in diameter, went from one end of the island to another covering a distance of approximately 17 kilometers. Kish rulers used to used these tunnel to escape from pirates that attacked the island quite often.
In 1995 two Kish entrepreneurs decided to transform this phenomenon into a traditional bazar, recreational and entertainment center. The bazar will have between 50-80 stores dedicated to Iranian handicrafts from 26 Iranian provincess and the rest will be available to other countries to present their goods.
The tunnels will be filled with sea water and small boat will take tourists from one end of the island to the other via the narrow, open and underground route. The walls of the bazaar are decorated with ancient designs. One section will have characters from the Iranian poet Ferdosi's Shahnameh (Book of Kings) drawn on walls with a person telling the story in 4 languages (Persian, English, German and French).

Gilgamesh November 15th, 2005, 12:09 AM Harire is most probably the town that the Iranian poet, Sa'adi, has referred
to in his book 'The Rose Garden'. There are references in the works of several
Iranian historians to the location of the town on the island. These say that
the town was situated in the middle of the northern part, precisely where the
ruins are standing today.

Gilgamesh November 15th, 2005, 06:02 PM Dancing strictly sitting down.
By CNN's Hala Gorani. Tuesday, September 28, 2004.
KISH Island, Iran (CNN) -- I had slipped into my black abaya and headscarf on the plane to comply with the Islamic Republic's dress code from the moment I entered Iran.
On the tarmac at Tehran, and despite the early morning hour -- it was 2 a.m. -- the heat was stifling and an extra layer of synthetic fabric was the last thing I wanted to wear.
I was in Iran filming for the latest edition of CNN's "Inside the Middle East," which airs Friday, October 1 (2004).
I officially entered the Islamic Republic of Iran with the lost look of someone in a completely foreign land.
I quickly found my translator and drove off with him to the Homa Hotel, one of Tehran's tired-looking luxury hotels that used to belong to the Sheraton group before the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Our "Inside the Middle East" crew was not given filming permission on the Iranian mainland. We were to fly to the vacation resort of Kish the next day: the only location in Iran, it seems, that officials were happy for us to film.
Freer - but not quite easier
Kish is an island south of the Iranian mainland in the Persian Gulf. I was told it was a freer, more open version of the Iranian mainland.
Indeed at the airport, there was a live Western-style band welcoming passengers, something that is technically illegal in the Islamic Republic. There was a man dressed as a big bunny to amuse the kids.
Two million people and billions of dollars left Iran after the revolution in 1979. Kish authority officials are hoping to attract some of them and their money back to the free-trade-zone island.
For Iranian nationals, there are several tax-free malls with Western products that are either difficult or impossible to find on the mainland. From Fruit Loops cereal boxes to Moulinex kettles, it's all there.
Iranian nationals are given a tax-free allowance of goods to take back home. About 1.3 million Iranians come to the island every year, and officials here want to increase that number to 2 million.
In Kish, there is no morality police. There are female mannequins in the shop windows with uncovered heads, which is not allowed in shops in Tehran.
Hot dog stands
There are coffee shops and hot dog stands that wouldn't look out of place in a European shopping center. The women push the boundaries of what is socially acceptable with smaller, more colorful hijabs that barely cover their heads.
I spoke to Myriam and her veil-free 12-year-old daughter in the mall.
"Here, she can wear what she wants. That's why she likes it here," Myriam says.
On the mainland, the Islamic Republic requires all girls over the age of 9 to cover up from head to toe.
And although alcohol is illegal, I am told that all I have to do is ask for it, and it could be delivered to my hotel room within a few hours.
Two years ago, the first five-star hotel opened in Kish. The Dariush Grand is an enormous complex built in the image of the ancient city of Persepolis in southern Iran. It smacks more of pre-revolution grandeur than stern Islamic Republic.
There is more freedom in Kish, without a doubt -- but not enough, according to some. Almost everyone I spoke to criticized the status quo in the Islamic regime. Some would do it in a subtle manner; others would openly call the ayatollahs crooks.
Having spent much time in Arab countries in the Middle East like Saudi Arabia and Syria, where openly criticizing the government can mean a considerable period of time in jail, I knew this was something powerful.
When I told Iranians in the UK about how openly some were critical of their own Islamic government, I was told that, in recent years, there is less fear of honestly slamming the regime.
Live pop music
In a country of 70 million, with a crushing majority under the age of 30, some observers wonder how long the current system can last without being challenged in some way.
During my stay, I visited one of the island's restaurants, where guests are allowed to enjoy live pop music in public. Some patrons hide their faces, uncomfortable being filmed while on a fun night out, but 27-year-old Hamed tells me why he likes Kish.
"Everywhere else, they catch you. Here, you have a little bit more freedom," he says.
Dancing is outlawed in Iran, so guests have an interesting way of moving to the music: arms up in the air, torso undulating, fingers snapping, while staying solidly seated in their chairs.
On the beach, men and woman are segregated. Females can wear the skimpiest bikinis on their beach, as long as men steer clear. There are big signs written in fat red letters -- "NO MEN ALLOWED" -- at the entrance to women's beaches.
"We're aware of the limitations," said Bezhad Shenandeh of the Kish Free Trade Organization, "but you have to work within the national context."
He added that their immediate goal was to attract more Iranian expats, not too bothered with the republic's stringent interpretation of Islamic law, rather than Westerners who might find the stringent rules too difficult to deal with while on holiday.
Shopping festival
Officials were eager for us to film an outdoor music concert, complete with a raffle competition to win a car. There was a DJ who played club music, an MC on a big stage facing a parking lot filled with hundreds of seated men and women clapping to the music, live singing acts, even a fireworks display.
The open-air party was to celebrate the end of a two-month shopping festival. Often suffering from an image problem abroad, the Iranian government seemed intent on having us tell the world that this is a much more laid-back country than some in the world might believe. Perhaps it's a desire to counter-balance the daily trickle of stories on Iran's nuclear head-to-head with the West?
Kish is hoping that the British bank Standard Chartered will open an office on the island soon. It would be the first foreign lender to operate in Iran since the 1979 revolution.
Authorities there say this would help outside money trickle back into the country, helping tourism projects and trade between the Islamic Republic and the rest of the region.
The hope, for some at least, is to test things out on the island to determine how well they might work within the existing set of rules that govern the rest of the country.

dave550 January 3rd, 2006, 12:20 PM that Island really does look beautiful
mahdial_x5 January 3rd, 2006, 09:30 PM Yup, Kish is defineteley Paradise for when i went there this summerr...
buh still, its Too Small, Iran should build up the bigger Island such as Qeshmm,
(the runway at Kish Int'l Airport takes up roughly 1/3 of the islands length!)
shayan January 3rd, 2006, 09:52 PM well yeah but they are building Qeshm now arent they?? Qeshm has some cool projects go look on www.qeshm.ir and you will see the great projects :D But it really isnt that small it is 92 km2 that is good for a holiday island. But for mass tourism your right they need to make bigger resorts like Qeshm and Shomal.

shugs February 23rd, 2007, 10:03 PM No they do not.. Restaurants with live entertainment are open til 3/4am that's as close as it gets.. Alcohol is much harder to get hold of than the mainland because of Kish's Island status
Women do have to wear headscarves and have to cover up but it is a lot more relaxed...
Women can ride scooters and pushbikes...
They shut down the mixed beaches for foreigners a few years ago because of Iranians getting smuggled in there and fornicating in the water and Iranians privatly filming (voyeurism) foreign women in bikinis

Whats the point of having a public outdoor swimming pool in iran?
mahdial_x5 June 24th, 2007, 04:52 PM ^^
they have public beaches in Kish...
besides, last time i went there, they hadnt cleaned the damn pool for a LONG time
shugs June 24th, 2007, 05:39 PM As it is a 5* I'm sure the pool has the facilities to effectively clean itself without the need for a trained monkey to clean the pool. Even the pool in the hotel I work in pretty much cleans itself. There is no demand for the pool to be used but it is still part of the hotels facilities and without it perhaps they would not have been able to get the 5* rating.
Also the main public beach on Kish Island is basically the men's beach. When I was there the hypocrisy of this flipped me out, where men can swim with just shorts/trunks on with families/women walking around on the same beach but the women's beach is miles out and has it's own security.
crazyeight June 25th, 2007, 08:36 AM What's the occupancy rate of the hotels in Kish?

Gizdavetz December 1st, 2007, 12:46 AM What are the prices in Kish? I hear Iran is pretty cheap, but it makes me wonder whether Kish is ‘tailored’ for Western tourists which would mean Western prices as well.
persian December 1st, 2007, 03:44 PM Actually a lot of stuff are a lot cheaper in Kish than the rest of Iran. That is why a lot of people go there for buying goods.
shugs December 1st, 2007, 04:32 PM Yeah Kish is a tax haven like most of the Persian Gulf coast

It could be because mainstream media in the West do not reflect the truth about Iran. It was the same during the time of the Shah. Most of the time they always show deserts, barren land, women in black chadors, camels, donkeys, backwardness, etc. That's why people become so pleasantly surprised when they come to Iran and find such a vast country so full of contrasts: Plenty of snow, mountains, woods, steppes, tropical nature, alplike nature, people of all sorts: Turkic, Baluch, Kurd, Turkmen, lurs, Arabs, black, white, blond, etc., etc. Few other countries have such sharp contrasts in climate and nature. The coldest temperatures in Iran lies around -30 C degrees, and hottest is +70 C degrees! Iran has the hottest spot in the world supposedly: Dasht-e Lut desert, where they have recorded +72 C degrees. Some northern parts of Iran can easily reach -30 C degrees in winter time, and with up to 2 meters of snow in the mountain areas, such as northern parts of Khorasan province and Azarbaijan Province.

Not many of the younger people know that the whole Kish concept was created during the reign of the last Shah of Iran. The idea was that the island would attract the world's wealthiest people, and thus become an important source of revenue for the Iranian state. The buildings built prior to the revolution were truly amazing - extremely post-modern, even by today's standards. Very nice architecture. There are several nice pictures of them taken by the famous late photographer Roloff Beny in the book "Iran - Elements of Destiny". No cars were allowed, except electrical battery driven cars. Several international celebrities and European royalty were buying homes there, such as Elizabeth Taylor, Andy Warhol, and others, but then came the revolution.
The island today has totally strayed away from that concept, and instead it has taken on an image which more resembles commercial American Vegas and Disney World style, instead of the sophisticated arty post-modern style that the Shah had in mind.
The Flower of the East project, which had so many people, including me, excited, turned out to be a big flop, like so many other projects of the Islamic republic. In the renderings and sample photos it looked like a whole new French riviera was about to be built on Kish. But now when we see the project evolve, EXTREMELY slowly, it appears that the actual result will be a 90% downgrade from the fancy renderings, and it looks like it will be more of the commercial American Florida/Las Vegas style instead of the sophisticated French Riviera style which can be seen in the renderings.

I don't understand why they have to paint the sides of sidewalks and medians in Iran - I'm referring to the yellow and black paint. It's so ugly. It really takes away from the beauty. You don't find that in most other cities of the world. There are so many other details like that in Iran which makes a big impact on the overall beauty of our urban areas: green and yellow trash cans, green and yellow benches in parks, pink or green or yellow railings, green or yellow telefon kiosks. Very suitable in Pakistan (no offense to Pakistanis) as this color scheme will match their colorful trucks, which actually are more pieces of art than trucks.

adrenalix December 12th, 2008, 08:19 AM Shades of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, eh? I wonder where they got their ideas!
For sure. I'm old enough to remember what Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and the rest of them were like prior to the Iranian revolution. It's amazing what money can buy. But it can't buy culture, history and civilization, nor can it buy character.
Erecting costly museums "over night" with the aid of westerners, as they did in Qatar, does not create culture. Culture is like democracy. It won't be genuine if it is exported/imported - it can't be implanted. It has to grow naturally with time.
In those days the pictures of the Shah and Shahbanou hang on the walls of shops, restaurants, teahouses and in the bazars throughout the Persian Gulf Arab Sheikhdoms. Their postage stamps featured the imperial family of Iran. In those days many of them wanted to be counted as part of Iran, because of the prestige Iran had in the world. The truth is that a large % of the inhabitants of some of these small countries are of Iranian descent. In Kuwait some 60% of the population can trace their roots back to Iran. I met a Kuwaiti couple in the U.S. once who spoke fluent Persian - Tehrani Persian. I asked them if they had recently migrated to Kuwait, and they told me that their ancestors dating back a couple of hundred years had migrated to Kuwait from Iran. The same is true for Dubai, and you can see that a lot of the people of Dubai do not look Arab, but more Persian.

I am glad Kish has not become what Shah wanted it to become . Kish back then was off limits to ordinary Iranians and as you say only royals were buying land in Kish. Shah wanted Kish to become the paradise for the royal and you may like that concept but I am sure the majority of Iranians are against it . Kish needs to be a tourist destination for all kinds of people. I am against the Islamic Republic but at least most ordinary people have access to Kish island. The island should develop with and become a getaway spot for Iranians who are tired of the pollution , traffic , and the everyday struggles of life in mainland Iran.

Actually, the plan was to open the island to all Iranians once the infrastructure was in place.

So there wasn’t any infrastructure when Shah and his buddies were going the casinos on kish? Or were they going to a dahat with no infrastructure? All the Royals who bought land in Kish I am sure were aware that there wasn’t any infrastructure on Kish

Well, it wasn't a law that ordinary Iranians were not allowed on Kish, but the real estate that was being built there was very expensive, which meant that ordinary Iranians wouldn't be able to afford it. The idea was clearly to attract the world's wealthy and famous to Kish, to create a big source of revenue for the Iranian state. I didn't say that the Shah built it for royals - you did. There were royals among other wealthy and famous people who bought or were planning to buy real estate there. Kish would be like the St. Tropez or Monte Carlo of the Middle East. St. Tropez and Monte Carlo are known as water holes for the rich, but that doesn't mean that there are no ordinary people living there as well - there are. And it was the same with Kish.
I never said that I prefered that Kish should be a resort for mostly the elite. What I expressed was that I do not like the Disneylandization of Kish under the Islamic Republic. That sort of thing just doesn't appeal to me. I prefer the Shah's plans as far as the architecture and style planned for the island is concerned - not as far as that it should be off-limits to anyone. Kish has become a cheap copy of commercial American resorts and urban areas, with a Disneyland style. The Flower of the East project looks great - in the renderings, but the outcome is becoming something totally different than what the renderings promise - it's more in line with more of the regular Disney style that we already have on Kish.
adrenalix December 13th, 2008, 07:25 AM So there wasn’t any infrastructure when Shah and his buddies were going the casinos on kish? Or were they going to a dahat with no infrastructure? All the Royals who bought land in Kish I am sure were aware that there wasn’t any infrastructure on Kish
Yes, there was infrastructure. But the Kish concept had just recently been born, and so there was a lot of development going on just prior to the revolution. Kish was not a an island for royals. Quite a few international celebrities, and SOME European royals had planned to buy real estate there. Perhaps there were a couple of royals - not a whole hord of them. So let's forget about the royals. The idea with Kish was to make it a unique island where no cars were allowed, and with super luxury department stores, boutiques, restaurants, night clubs, casinos, etc. There was no such thing as that ordinary people were not allowed. But the idea was to attract the super-wealthy and famous, and thus make the island an important source of revenue for Iran. This didn't mean that there was not going to be any housing for ordinary people. A lot of the nice real estate built were affordable to middle class Iranians, and then there was also real estate built for the native residents. But mainly, the idea was to make Kish the St. Tropez or Monte Carlo of the Middle East and Asia.

2) Why are all beaches lit at night?
1) Yes, there are women only beaches that are fenced off, where women can wear bikinis and get a tan. As there is a men only beach which is not fenced off at all and is next to the watersports area.. There used to be mixed beaches for foreign citizens however it was closed a few years ago because it was "compromised"
2) I dunno, maybe for people to be able to see?

Hope that helps :)

For me Kish was unique because it was calm (depending on the season of course...) and not too crowded. You didn't see highrises and hotels on every corner of the island and it was easy to find a calm spot. Now it's become a Dubai rip-off (or at least it seems as if that is the ambition when I see the pictures that have been posted in this thread).
Herbicide March 30th, 2009, 04:29 AM ^^ Dubai!? No way! More like a Balearic island! Im sure it still has its slow season though.
Shapoor March 30th, 2009, 10:23 AM @Siamak: Kish has never been like Dubai and it never will. Kish is a recreational island rather than a business place. Also, kish has no highrises yet and I don't think it'll have any more than 15 highrises in the future which is good enough in my opinion.

True, it's not a business place. What I meant was more that it would be too crowded and that it in the future would be difficult to have "peace and quiet" because there would be so many other tourists in the new top modern hotels .:fiddle:

siamu maharaj April 24th, 2009, 11:25 AM I keep reading everywhere that the dress code is relaxed on the island, but the pics say otherwise. So what's the truth?
And is alcohol available?
Beautiful place though, would love to visit it!
shugs April 24th, 2009, 03:09 PM ^Dress code is more relaxed, men and women can wear three quarter length shorts without being hassled by fashion police :|. You probably cannot notice the difference because you have no experience of mainland Iran and then Kish.
Alcohol is available but not legal, it is still part of an Islamic state.
DingoBingo April 24th, 2009, 03:38 PM Kish would be the perfect tourist destination if they lifted all these backward religous laws, and allowed people to drink and party. It could be the ibiza of the middle east!

The pier looks new nice and wide . But I don’t understand why they don’t build any shops , snack bars, game shops and more on the pier like they do in most places. What’s the point of walking the distance of the pier without anything to do on the damn thing. There is plenty of room to build those things.

Iranic November 8th, 2009, 01:33 PM Hey guys im Iranian and wanted to go Iran very soon But i want to go to some nice beaches and i dont see many pictures of this place around. I heard that most beaches are poluted in Iran and their not like crystal clear like mediteranean places like Cyprus,Turkey or Greece. Can any1 confirm if this is true ??
TEHR_IR November 8th, 2009, 02:34 PM ^^
I've been to Kish and the beaches there are cleaner and wither than any beach I've been in Greece and Spain, also the water is christal clear and so bleu....if you go 800M into the see you can still see all the fishes and sea ground...
all southern beaches like Kish, Qeshm, Bandar abas etc, are very nice
but if you go to the caspian see you can see some dirt beaches that's because of the industry there, but like I said beaches in Iran are very nice, specially the south

well off course it must be christos because it has the best cleanest beaches in Iran. Caspian sea is very polluted and every1 loves the beach especially me
shugs January 22nd, 2010, 01:07 AM There is a much more relaxed atmosphere, it's geared so the stressed city dwelling middle class can chill the fuck out for a weekend.
The food is really good too.
Koobideh January 22nd, 2010, 02:31 AM Kish is nice, but like seriously, can you go there and enjoy it if you're a woman? Of course like women who only know Iran and have never left Iran in their life will like it, but how can a women who's raised outside of Iran like Kish when she will have to wear a headscarf and is not allowed to dress freely?? That is why my family doesn't ever go, because my mom is not going to go there because of the headscarf.
Kish is a bloody touristic island so why on earth do they do headscarf there? It's not like Tehran or somewhere like that. Like my mom hasn't got too much problems being in Tehran and having to wear headscarf, but definitely she would never go to Kish. And what's the point in going when only a few miles away you can do the same thing while not having to wear the headscarf like in Dubai or Sharm El Sheikh?
Koobideh January 22nd, 2010, 02:41 AM These are some vids about people talking about Kish. They are positive comments about the island though.

B-Patriot March 6th, 2010, 09:50 PM Hmm.. Why so expensive!?
Are the resturaunts made to be top notch 1st class type resturaunts!?
Cuz the pics look great.. The beach and sea is amazing.. Something we strangely sorta lack in Bahrain.. But i haven't seen too many pics of any grand rich luxurious hotels/resturaunts, etc...
TEHR_IR March 6th, 2010, 11:01 PM ^^
yes, it's expencive for one 1 kabab whit rice you must pay 40-70 thousand tomans, I mean it's about 50 dollars maybe not much if you earn euros and dollars but for the Iranian people and income that's alot of money...this was what I experienced 2 years ago also the dolfine park is 25 or 30 thousand tomans each person...which is ridicilous...
Hotels and Electronic stuff are good.
I mean kinda normal not cheap but also not too expensive.
B-Patriot March 7th, 2010, 12:10 AM 50 dollars for kebab and white rice? hahahaha, and its like normal food in iran, not a delicacy or some foreign exotic dish..
Crazy i think no matter where u live or come from.. :)
TEHR_IR March 7th, 2010, 01:15 PM haha in Belgium it's about the same price :)
Iran in general is a very expensive country in terms of food and stuff even Tehran and I haven't yet spoken about the real estate haha :)

do many non-iranians visit the island? if yes from where are they mostly from?

I don't think Arabic is widely spoken, but I'm sure you'll find someone who speaks it in hotels. You can find a lot of info here (http://www.kish.ir/HomePage.aspx?TabID=0&Site=DouranPortal&Lang=en-US).

for tourism and resorts kish seems to be the most developed part of Iran.
yea, kinda. I've been to kish several times and I have ecountered with non-iranians in there (especially in places like Maryam arcade pool/bowling club, hotels like flamingo and etc)
they are mostly from east asian countries especially the Philippines. they come to Kish and stay there to later go to dubai for working. I've seen people also from Thailand and Indonesia.

QWECXZ August 29th, 2010, 12:17 PM Thanks man. Is there a real city or is it just a few scattered resorts?
yea, Kish as a small island for tourism is a well-developed city. the Kish airport is clean and well-designed, the Kish transportation system is good, it has bus stops in close distances and in any part of the island you can get a taxi with cheap prices, it has good restaurants, good hotels, good shopping centers, it has branches of some famous Iranian universities like the Tehran University, the Sharif University and Shahid beheshti which some of them are international branches and etc. It's not an industrial city, but yet it's well developed.
dave550 September 7th, 2010, 10:25 AM why usinversities if they only have 20k people living there
QWECXZ September 7th, 2010, 11:00 AM why usinversities if they only have 20k people living there
they accept students from other places. for example it's pretty hard to pass the iranian university exam, so not all people will get the chance to study in a branch of the Tehran University or other good universities i mentioned. governmental universities in Iran are free, but these branches of those universities accept money and let you enter. that's why.

:applause: thank you, to be honest, overcoming those ugly ass paintings is my dream, but i dukno why they persist on painting everything!
TEHR_IR December 6th, 2010, 12:39 AM actually I like it, I think it's just a matter of taste :)
Cyrus December 7th, 2010, 11:12 PM I just came back from Kish, my first and last visit, of course it was a beautiful city but I don't think that there is any city in the whole world that you have to pay $60 (60,000 toman) to visit a normal park! With the cost of hiring a bicycle in Kish Island, I could buy a better bicycle in Tehran! I remember in Istanbul, I paid just $50 and visited the Island of Buyukada by a beautiful ship with lunch and other things, with the same price, you can sit in a small boat for some minutes in Kish Island!
Anyway I will post my pics soon.
sinasina December 7th, 2010, 11:46 PM ^^Why last visit?!
I agree that they charge too much in some places. I remember Them charging $100 for hiring a Jet Ski for 60 minutes!!!
Did you go to the Dolphin Park?
SoroushPersepolisi December 7th, 2010, 11:58 PM actually I like it, I think it's just a matter of taste :)
well true, but its allways to have something neutral rather than it being a specific thing

Because there are several other places with lower cost of visiting, there is no reason that I want to waste of money to go Kish again, all things were several times more expensive than Tehran, instead of buying a glass of water in Kish, I can go to a restaurant and eat the best food in Tehran.
No I didn't go to that park and I will never do it.

well said, this is one of the 24952 reasons kish is not working
when there is dubai and qatar on one side and turkey with all its places like antalya and istabul nobody will come to kish, and to be honest i dun get why they build so much in kish when ultimately nobody reallyy goes even if persians go it makes no real national profit, the money just goes from one pocket to another
Amirex111 December 8th, 2010, 04:12 AM No my dear friend, more than 1 million Iranians go. When an economist would hear your sentence of "just going from one pocket to another" they would have trouble getting off the floor.
Economies work by producing things, either products or services. The one million people who visit Kish creat jobs, new buildings, and added work for the economy.
Economies work precisely as you described it, money going from one pocket to another. If this didn't happen than, well there would be no economy, no growth, well no nothing.
SoroushPersepolisi December 8th, 2010, 04:23 AM hahahaha bebin i said lots of ppl go but their all from iran, "creat jobs" but amongst who?? the same ppl that go there?? yea it goes from pocket to pocket but the probolem is that in iran i goes from pocket to pocket but in the same household, it just circulates in iran it doesnt expand. kish isnt producing anything , u even proved my point "products or services" yea, services that only host non foreign people. ultimately the same money just circulates amongst the more wealthy ppl

Galandar December 10th, 2010, 06:24 PM Nice but could be so much better without implementation of shariah law. Sad to see those canons working even there :ohno:
Cyrus December 10th, 2010, 06:46 PM The situation in Kish is much different from Tehran, I never saw any Basiji, Pasdar or even Entezami force there, unfortunately there is already a cultural problem in Iran, there were some women in Kish who go out with no hijab but people themselves made problem for them.

Tehran and the rest of the country need more of these decent cars
Koobideh December 11th, 2010, 01:36 AM There's no atmosphere in Kish. It looks dead from the photos, and no people to be seen. I would find it hard to enjoy myself in such a dead place.
iman08 December 11th, 2010, 02:13 PM ^^There are always some people, but most of the people going there want silence to relax and enjoy. They want a change from the busy life and over-crowded big cities of Iran. So, it's exactly what they want and certainly one of the main points why Kish has so many visitors every year.

It's because of winter season. It's packed in September.
Cyrus December 11th, 2010, 03:49 PM Tehran and the rest of the country need more of these decent cars
There was no Iranian car in Kish, the Taxis were Toyota Camrys.

Kish island is warm in almost all months of the year, people usually go out at night, except hypermarkets, other stores and malls work from 5 PM to 1 AM.
drayaparsa December 28th, 2010, 01:06 PM i was wondering how long does it take to drive from 1 side of kish all the way to the other?
is it a big island or is it very small?
SoroushPersepolisi December 29th, 2010, 02:38 AM its small, maybe less than an hour
SoroushPersepolisi December 30th, 2010, 06:16 AM and great pics btw :)

Ze Carlos_Ze December 10th, 2011, 10:33 PM somehow there almost no photos of this island.
Binaloud December 10th, 2011, 11:17 PM Kish started to die 10 years ago when people started going to Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey and more recently, Europe for vacationing. Its interesting when you look at the tour adds in typical Iranian daily papers filled with vacation packages to places as far as Brazil!
SoroushPersepolisi December 11th, 2011, 01:23 AM it makes full sense, there is nothing really special about kish, same laws, same city style, nothing is better
Nimaa December 11th, 2011, 01:25 AM it makes full sense, there is nothing really special about kish, same laws, same city style, nothing is better

Also LOL @ the girl biking on the small and brittle "bridge" or whatever it is, she probably had a fetish with the water
