Küsel June 15th, 2005, 10:25 AM That's very cool graphics!! Thanks for sharing them. Very interesting and complex study! But I think it's only economical aspects.
Here is my city:

Most over-linked city: Chicago (0.040)
Most under-linked city: Seattle (-0.034)
Interesting that we have a stronger connection to Rio than Sao Paulo, this is a bit weird of what I know. Also Frankfurt is not at all a partner to Zurich - it may be a competer in it's role for the city but there are many links to it, more than to Munich maybe which is has a very strong connection to Zurich according to the map.

DiggerD21 June 16th, 2005, 03:31 AM I don't post the map here. You can see it in the link.
Hamburg has the most links to the other german world cities plus Antwerp, Warsaw, Budapest and Beijing, while New York is the most underlinked with Hamburg as whole North America is underlinked (with exception of Detroit) with my Hometown. It's interesting that Hamburg is slightly underlinked with the sister-city Chicago, while the other way around its a heavy underlinkage.
They could have used the abbreviation "HH" though (it is the official abbreviation of Hamburg, "HB" is the one of Bremen)
DarkFenX June 16th, 2005, 03:33 AM Cool. Boston's initial is BS.

Bombay Boy June 17th, 2005, 05:19 PM hmm, seems that my city is in the top 10 under-linked cities for all 5 of the cities in the first post. seems about right as most of the flights are always packed
should improve with the current round of liberalisation in the aviation sector

I guess these maps are not only about aviation and other transportation links, but also (and mainly) about business links.
samsonyuen June 17th, 2005, 06:02 PM TORONTO
Most over-linked city: Boston (0.052) <---Surprising that it's not Montréal
Most under-linked city: Berlin (-0.038) <---Seven cities have Toronto as their most under-linked!

also to do with government regulations. ours was a highly regulated aviation sector with restricted number of flights. but just in the past 4 months services to london have tripled with a new india-uk pact. same the case with us
should get better in next few years
Küsel June 17th, 2005, 06:44 PM We seem to be very well linked... especially from the US and Canada's Eastern Area... from Boston, Chicago and Toronto even as the most important city in the Continent, I am surprised.
Effer June 17th, 2005, 10:07 PM Look at Mumbai!!!!!

dave8721 June 17th, 2005, 10:31 PM Miami: Calls itself the "Capital of the Americas" and it looks like it too with good linkage to most North and South American cities (other than Toronto and Montreal).
Why the linkage with Stockholm?

philadweller June 17th, 2005, 10:57 PM Interesting how Philadelphia is practically part of NYC's metro (an unofficial borough) and it is not in the top 10%. I think this is ridiculous as many people commute on a daily basis to and from NYC and 50% of all real estate transactions in Philadelphia were carried out by New York buyers. Our subways practically connect. We are becoming a refugee camp for Manhattanites. Did you know that it is possible to see the NYC and Philadelphia skyline at the same time from the high rise dorms in Princeton?
We are in top 10 for Boston and DC connections.

philadweller June 17th, 2005, 11:07 PM So many Philadelphians have a second home in Miami.
