PITTSBURGH (AP) - Southwest Airlines had a strong showing in its first month of flying out of Pittsburgh International Airport, ranking as the fourth busiest airline that month, according to airport officials.
The Dallas-based airline, which began flights out of Pittsburgh on May 4, had 57,260 passengers, or 6 percent of the airport's total passengers for the month. US Airways, which has continued to lose it share, remained the top carrier at the airport, followed by Delta and United.
Overall, traffic was down almost 20 percent at about 955,000 passengers from the same month last year.
