Damn.... :eek: Typical Balkan town. It feels so cosy.

I wouldn't call it typical at all. Some of the architecture is Southeast Balkans/Ottoman but everything else is just surprising and breathtaking.

It's as though someone took the Elve's kingdom in Lord of the Rings, mixed in the Great Wall of China, a little Berat, a little Sarajevo, a whole lot of ancient Bulgaria - a few dashes of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, with a little bit of the Grand Canyon and called it a day.

That church/monument located on the peak, connected to the rest of the city by a bridge on either side is just unreal. And the wall, with the church on the mountain peak is gorgeous. The narrow, winding streets are like a glorified version of coastal Italy. It's just...

This is my new favorite non-Sarajevo city. :) Sorry Istanbul. ;)

Maybe it's prettier than other Balkan towns, but you can tell right away where this is.

That place was great, especially when I visited it on a schooltrip.
But I wouldn't call it a town, it used to be Bulgaria's medieval capital, and the only reason they didn't pick it after the Liberation is that they had some nationalistic goals in mind... That's why they choose Sofia, as it would have been in the middle of a combined Bulgaria + Macedonia.
But that's another story; Tsarevets is great, there were some huge bells I don't remember what the teacher said about them. But the coolest place was Baldwin's tower, where he got locked up by Kaloyan

Hmm, Stas I'm surprised you think that, cause the most distinguishing feature I see of the city in these images is the huge cliff.. which seems very unique to me.

By the way, Sarajevo is six times the size of Veliko Tarnovo. Veliko Tarnovo in size is more comparable to Bihac... don't know if Mila ever had a thread about that town.

^that's what I thought, I don't see much between Turnovo and Sarajevo, taking in mind Turnovo is small and has a great scenery. It's an University city, so there are quite a lot of students around, for much of its 70k pop.

If we're going to compare Veliko Tarnovo to Bosnian cities.. the pictures make me think most of some strange mix of Mostar's old town (minus the bridge) and an Orthodox version of Travnik.

Alright so I've just figured it out. In terms of size, Sarajevo is slightly larger than Plovdiv (both metro and city)

Ottoman architecture isn't the only type of architecture in Sarajevo, and it sure doesn't look like this city.

One thing that I would change about V. Trnovo is the riverbanks... It looks too bushy. It's better clean and trimmed. Maybe pave a sidewalk there...

Didn't u noticed that in the reality it s canyon, what do you want ? ppl to drop there in water ? :D

I wouldn't say it's just a canyon. On other pics you can see that there is some space on the banks.

lol, I didn't mean in details, but if you look at these two cities and compare them to other places, to Paris, Warsaw, Kyiv, Moscow, London, - they are similar :)

Why would I compare Sarajevo to Paris..?
I still don't see the connection. Our architecture is different and how the city is biult and location too. Maybe you mean the house on the hills, but that's not city.

2nd Burial for Legendary Bulgarian Tzar 800 Years after Death

The relics of the Bulgaria's Tzar Kaloyan will be buried for a second time in a church the ancient Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo 800 years after his death.

The relics will be put in the gallery of the 40 Holly Martyrs Church, head of the National Historical Museum Bozhidar Dimitrov announced. The funeral will be attended by the President Georgi Parvanov, the Culture Minister Stefan Danailov and other official guests.

When archaeologists first found the bones, they were kept in the Veliko Tarnovo museum, but now they will be moved into a special coffin, made of rustproof, nickel-plated steel with Tzar Kaloyan's personal coat of arms, taken from the ring found in his funeral.

The relics will be buried according to the protocol of a state funeral, as Kaloyan, also called by some western historians Ioanitsa, was the head of state and commander-in-chief of the country.

Tzar Kaloyan is the young brother of Assen and Petar, who restored the Bulgarian state. Kaloyan ascended to the throne in 1197 after both his brothers died in the same year.

During his rule Tzar Kaloyan managed to return to the state of Bulgaria the lands in Thracia, Macedonia, Transylvania and Moravia with his wars against Byzantium, Hungary and Serbia. In 1199 the Tzar received a letter from Pope Innocent III, who was hoping to add Bulgaria to the Catholic Church. Kaloyan answered not until three years later, demanding a king's crown and an independent church. In 1204 Kaloyan was declared emperor by Pope's messenger Cardinal Leo.

In 1205 the new emperor managed to capture Emperor Baldwin of Flanders and jailed him in the legendary Baldwin Tower in the Tsarevets Fortress, there leader of the fourth crusade spent the rest of his life.

Kaloyan was killed by his head commander Manaster in 1207 before the walls of Thessalonica.

Лифт свързва Арбанаси с Търново

Инвеститори са готови да броят 4 млн. евро за въжената линия

Как Търново може да стане още по-атрактивен град за туристите, използвайки парите от еврофондовете. Тази тема ще събере на една маса управници, историци, бизнесмени и експерти на днешната дискусия, организирана от в. "Стандарт". Във втория ден на международното туристическо изложение в старата столица представителите на различни институции ще търсят решение на всички спорни и наболели проблеми, които спъват развитието на региона.

Лифт може да свърже Арбанаси с Велико Търново. Общината вече е разработила проект за въжената линия, която ще улесни придвижването на туристите. Изпълнението му обаче се блокира от Националния институт за паметниците на културата. Според специалистите на НИПК лифтът ще загрози живописния пейзаж между Велико Търново и Арбанашкото плато.
Спорният проект ще бъде обсъден на днешната дискусия на "Стандарт" в старата столица.
От кметството са категорични, че въжената линия ще се впише добре и дори ще разкраси местността. Големият лифт трябва да започва от подножието на хълма Царевец, да се изкачва по Арбанашкото плато и да свършва до хотел "Арбанаси палас". Освен него има още един проект за въжено транспортно съоръжение от Паметника на Никола Пиколо във Велико Търново до площадката до жп тунелите. И за двата проекта има инвеститори, които са готови да вложат пари, твърдят от общината. Очаква се обаче да приключат всички преговори с НИПК, а и да се довършат административните работи, за да е изрядна документацията. За големия лифт между Велико Търново и Арбанаси ще бъдат похарчени около 4 млн. евро, а за малкия - най-много 1 млн. евро.
На дискусията днес ще се търси решение и на наболелия проблем с водоснабдяването и канализацията на Арбанаси. Проектът е готов, само чака одобрение и подписи от МРРБ. Ако всичко мине гладко, заедно с изграждането на канализацията ще се копае и за газификацията на Арбанаси.

Yes , of course they are still doing the "light & sound" show. Actually we have it almost each night during summer when buses with tourists from thе sea resorts come to see it. In a week or two i think for the opening of thе new tourist season there will be also an official opening of a new luxirious VIP viewing terrace with 180 seats capacity, recently build on the roof of the local archеological museum administration building. The operators of the show also recently received a new modern computer and technical equipment...

Thank you new bulgaria :cheers: ... Unfortunately right now i live(work) in Sofia and come back to Tarnovo only for the weekends . Sofia isn't such a bad city after all ... but if you were born and raised in Veliko Tarnovo there is no way you could find Sofia prettier or nicer for living. So i hope in the comming years i will have my chance to return back home where i belong ;)

About the Central Mall , i will try to shoot some photos next time i am home and post it here.

Do you guys think it was a good decision to move the capital of Bulgaria from Turnovo to Sofia?

I personnaly do believe so, because Turnovo is one of the cities in BG that has truly preserved the spirit of an older age. If Turnovo was kept as capital of Bulgaria, it would have probably had a much more different look, who knows. Maybe they would have destroyed the old town like they did in Sofia in order to build a Vienna like modern capital hanging on the hills...or maybe they would have kept the old town and build the new town on the plateau...or maybe that wouldn't have mattered because the WWII raids on the capital would have destroyed it all and the commies would have built some huge partien dom on the ruins of Tsarevetz...

I personnaly love this region of Bulgaria because it is full of ancient history (just like any other, but there is just something about it). In 2000, me and some friends went to visit the region and went for 2 days to one of my friend's grand-father's village of Ruhovtsi(near Elena) and we meet this Bulgarian couple that had bought a house in the village and used it as a summer villa. The village itself is really small, no more then 20 national revival houses of which 3-4 were inhabited. When the couple bought their property a couple of year before, they went on exploring the village and discovered the village's destroyed church, they decided to clean up and cut some of the trees that had grew inside the church and they discovered 3 icons made in the 1700s that were hidden under some stone blocks...My friend's grand-father showed us some old coins that he had found during the years while working in the wheat fields, he had like 10 ancient coins, most of them in bronze & cooper and two or three in silver if I remember well. Anyhow, that was not the end of it on our last day in the village we went to visit the local river and during our walk on the riverside we discovered and old cemetery which by the sayings of one of my friends that was studying archaeology at that time was dating to the 1600s-1700s...Lucky for us before we left the village the couple we met, gave us all old bottles of Kamenitza dating back to the begin of the 20th century with those locks that are always staying on the bottles (Grolsch type, if you know what I mean), it seemed that the house they had bought was property of the local shop/tavern owner back in the days so they had dozen of old Kamenitza bottles in their maze...good memories...

^^ of course it was a good idea. Turnovo's location alone doesn't allow it to become a cosmopolitan city. The Shoppe Plain lets Sofia grow as much as it wants because the plain is relatively flat. I just wish Sofia was more centrally located or even better Plovdiv actually expand and modernize their airport to rival Sofia.

Sofia was picked to be in a central position to the st Stefano treaty Bulgaria
And anyway, I prefer to have a new planned city (well not that new nor that planned) than having to cram a whole modern capital into Turnovo, probably ruining the old town.
Of course, nowadays, they can always move the administrative capital to VT, and keep the economic aspect in Sofia, I don't think it would matter that much

Moving the capital would be unreasonably expensive and pointless today.
Whichever city had been picked to be a capital it would have had very similar fate: 19th century development, WWII destruction, Commies, transitional uplaned building...

Moving the capital from Tarnovo to Sofia in 1879 is a perfect example of a good political decision , and how far ahead the young patriots of Bulgaria from that time were looking ... In fact Sofia at that time was at least 5 times smaller than Tarnovo , there were no school , no nothing in the present capital. The deputees who made the decision were also mostly from the regions near Tarnovo but made the decision only because Sofia was the only major city south of Stara Planina in the borders of the country set by the Berlin congress...

I think , that decision also saved the spirit of Veliko Tarnovo and i am glad that they made it , because god knows what Veliko Tarnovo would be looking like now if it stayed the capital back then.

I can talk about that village and the history of the whole Elena surroundings with hours ... In fact that branch of my family history is the longest i know. I have tracked it nearly 200 years back in time. Then somewhen in the end of 18th and the beggining of 19th century the oldest great-grand father that i know of moved from the village Korten in south Bulgaria to Ruhovtsi in the Elena region of the Balkan mountains. From my family is Hadji Sergii - one of the heroes of the Velchova Zavera rebeliion from 1835 ...

To understand better Elena , you must know that somewhen in 17th century , the sultan gave the whole region as present to one of his wifes (probably some chirstian beauty) with an official document and from that day on the region had some special previlegies ... for example it wasn't allowed for a musilm to settle there unless he is in the army or administration service... And that forced a wave of migration form all parts of Bulgaria to the region.

Ruhovtsi village is if fact not that small - it consists of 3 neighbourhoods- Hristovtsi , Gorbanovtsi and Ruhovtsi. 2 of them were build by refugees who came and settled there - repectively from the region of Radomir , and from Chiprovci ...

To tell you the truth, I think that we only passed by Ruhovtsi for a while and whe actually stayed at some other selo, I think it was called Velchovtsi or Vulkovtsi, because I clearly remember that it was a really small village. I keep on forgeting the names of the different sela, but I really liked my stay in the region and Elena is definitively a nice city. The whole place is simply so suiting and calm.

My best man :) kum ... is a great-grand son of Pop Sava Katafilov , the man who swore the men of Botev when they stepped on the shore of Kozlodui, and was later killed by the turks somewhere in the Vratsa Balkan ... If you ever meet a person in Bulgaria with the name Katrafilov , you must know that his origins are from Elena , and from the family of my best man :)

Recently Nescafe and Natinal Geographic have publiched a book with compilation of archive articles about Bulgaria from the NG magazine. A really nice book with a lot of unique articles and photos. Попаднах на него само благодарение на един турист - обикновен и безцелен турист, който не искаше да изминава дълги разстояния наведнъж и когото бях изкушил да ме придружи В България. Обикаляхме местата на Руско-Турската Война - точно по времето, когато се решаваше съдбата на Порт Артур - и от Плевен пътят водеше към прохода Шипка. Това си е доста дълго пътуване според балканските методи и приятелят искаше да го прекъсне. Пътеводителят не обещаваше много за по пътя и той не „откри никаква възможност". Най-накрая „намери своята възможност" в един чудесно отпечатан пасаж от „Мапер" - Бедекерът на Югоизточна Европа.

- Защо да не пренощуваме в Търново? -помоли той. - фон Молтке го нарича най-очарователното място на света. Слушай това - и той ми прочете една-две страници от описанието: синьо ориенталско небе, Живописни костюми, агънца, които скачат по зелени ливади, и т.н. Дните бяха горещи, колите - прашни, а chef de garre (т.е, кондукторът) - изпечен мошеник; а да ви кажа истината, цяла България е толкова живописна, че за човек е мъчително да мине през нея за по-малко Време, отколкото трябва. Изписах на лицето си благоволение и казах, че съм готов да отида в Търново. И така, купихме си билети за града.
В четири и половина трансрумелийският експрес на Българските Държавни Железници ни остави в Търново. Гледката не беше вдъхновяваща. Малко ливади, няколко планински каруци - каквито у нас съм виждал единствено в бандитските райони на Кентъки - и майка с дете. Шапката на детето беше покрита с живописни пайети и аз му направих снимка.

Тоба обаче не ни подкара напред. По целите Балкани Железниците целенасочено избягват градовете. Казаха ми, че обичаят се появил още по турско време, когато градовете плащали големи суми на железопътните компании, за да ги избягват - с цел разхайтени войници да не се мотаят из тях във времето между два влака. Днес обаче съм по-склонен да вярвам, че това е дело на местните политици, които искат да предоставят на файтонджиите от техния избирателен район възможността да си изкарват прехраната на гърба на странниците.

От гарата тръгваше хубав селски път, по който ни понесе файтонът - между отчасти покрити с дървета високи урви, които стигаха до жълтеникави скали, издигащи се от красива виеща се река. Далеч напред имаше други скали и на тях беше кацнал градът - Прекрасното Тьрново, Всяка къща в което е окъпана в цвят: покривите с червени печени керемиди, стените боядисани в глинели розови и кафяви цветове, стрехите и корнизите подсилени с тежки с почернели от времето греди. Жълто и синьо красяха други къщи. Спряхме, за да се насладим на перспективата - все едно Неапол, гледан от морето, - защото и тук къщите са на по три или дори на по пет етажа, нещо изключително рядко за архитектурата на Ориента.

Заобиколихме хълма - едното от двете стръмни възвишения, на които се издига Търново - и спряхме при Борис, търновския „Уолдорф-Астория". В дневника си записах първото си впечатление от къщата - „приятна, но примитивна". Един кореспондент непрекъснато си води бележки и е интересно да се види как мнението му се променя с отлитащите часове. Последвахме нашия немскоговорящ домакин нагоре по една от тези старинни вити стълби, която напомня на американеца за къщата на Том Корбин, и си осигурихме стая с очарователна гледка към това Соренто на Балканите.

След това двамата с туриста се отправихме навън да „направим" Търново. От прозореца вече бяхме разгадали особената му топография. Градът се намира от двете страни на гигантска планина. В нейната основа има долина, от която се издига друга планина, където са останките от предградията. Именно от тези склонове се издигат къщите - високи и тесни и с всякакви форми - все по-високо по улиците, които я карат полекичка и на зигзаг, така че човек никога не знае дали мястото, за което е тръгнал, се намира на върха или в подножието на планината. Съответно и къщите се намират само на горната страна на пътя и когато погледнеш из-отдолу минаващите мулета, те изглеждат все едно крачат по покривите. Илюзията беше много особена и ми напомни за пасящите магарета в Исландия, които живеят по покривите на къщите на техните стопани. Постройките в Търново имат и още една отличителна черта. Обикновено хората на Балканите не са особено щедри по отношение на прозорците и особено тук - където стъклата са двойни срещу суровите планински зими - броят на прозорците може да се приеме като показателен за размера на кесията. Но без значение дали хората са бедни или богати. поотрийте изобилстват на тази страна на къщата, която е обърната към красивата река - а тя обикновено е задната. За тези от нас, които са свикнали на турския базар, определено беше изненада да открият прозорци на задната страна на български дюкян. На тези прозорци, както и на другите покрай улицата висят дантелени завеси или плетени местни рогозки, изрисувапи в ярки фигури с живи форми, които правят сцената още по-странна.

Големият чар на Търново обаче се крие в неговите балкони. Всеки дом -а трябва да се помни, че в по-близките части на Изтока дом и дюкян са синоними - има в средата на фасадата на Втория етаж врата, в по-голямата си част от прозоречно стъкло, която се отваря към малък балкон, където през цялото лято цъфтят олеандрови храсти в тежки зелени качета. Там госпожата сяда да шие, да наглежда малките или да се надвеси и да побъбри с минаващите съседи. От двете страни на балкона има единични прозорци и в дъждовно време тя се оттегля зад тях. Колкото и да е странно, в Търново богаташките къщи се ограничават до два етажа; бедняците обитават четири и пететажните сгради, които се дават под наем. Но нека се върнем на балконите. Много от тях не се задоволяват с олеандрите, ами имат опънат отгоре си свод от лоза, така че българската дама да се скрие в беседка от листа, от която на воля да къса висящите сладки гроздове и да хвърля люспите Върху минувача в тясната алея или по-често на сравнително широката улица отдолу.

Но ние сме почнали да разнищваме Търново парче по парче, което ни лишава от чара на цялото. Трябва да пообиколим навън, тук и там, вън и вътре в тази страна на нибелунгите, да отбележим туй и онуй как се появява и изчезва и да се насладим на цялото. Нека последваме улицата, където и да ни заведе. От едната страна къщите се издигат нагъсто, което се дължи на различната им височина и форма, и тук позлатените кубета на една българска църква разчупват еднообразието. Сега слизаме по хълма и горните етажи са надвиснали над нас като в Нюрнберг, само че тук са толкова близки, че почти се допират до стените на съседите, и ние вървим в непрекъснат здрач. Излизаме на открит площад и подминаваме едно ландо, което - какъвто е балканският обичай - е покрито вътре с бели ленени покривки. Продьлжаваме към казармите и пазарния площад, една решетъчна структура, разделена на две за конюшни, и достигаме до сърцето на града. Поглеждаме назад и улавяме гледката на градините по покривите. Наемателите на големите постройки също имат балкон на Втория етаж, но на горните етажи няма балкони и те се налага да вземат въздух и да простират седмичното пране на покривите. Там, сред храстите, хората седят подобно на нашите модни нюйоркчани на хиляди мили на запад.

Улицата става неравна, тъй като плочите са се разхлабили. На места през пътя има стъпала и откриваме, че височината им чувствително се е променила. Тук има дюкяни за шапки и обувки и кафенета, където турското кафе се сервира в чашки без дръжки. Има и други дюкяни, които гледат към улиците не с прозорец, ами с две врати. На праговете им цъфти „еврейско мушкато", тъй като тези хора изпитват неумерена любов към цветята. Над нас балконите стават все по-богати - прътите с нанизите лук са заменени от изящни ковани железни орнаменти, но все още сме сред занаятчиите на Търново. Ето я пекарната, с една стена почти напълно отворена към улицата, разкриваща варосаната глинена пещ и пълната с кръгли кафеникави самуни сергия. Следващият дюкян е на сарафина - изключително необходим фактор в живота на Балканите, където в обращение се намират монетите на толкова много страни. Лихвата, която взема, е четири цента на долар и осемдесет, като е напълно доволен от тази си комисионна. Оттатък има пазари с хранителни продукти и още с шапки и дрехи - дюкяни с чехли и костюми. Във всички тях стоят дружелюбните местни хора, които са много щастливи да позволят на „американски" да разгледа стоката им, стига само да могат на свой ред да го зяпат. България може и да е разбойническа страна и трябва да признаем, че по южната граница имаше места, където не се чувствахме съвсем в безопасност, но като общо от всички народи в света българският е сред най-гостоприемните към прекрачилия прага му странник.

Завиваме по павирана улица, която е само пет фута широка и върви нагоре. Тук най-ниският етаж на къщата е без прозорци, построен от камъни и хоросан, с тежки дървени врати и още по-тежки железни клепала, както и с малко препречено с решетки прозорче от едната страна на входа, което да служи като шпионка, преди посетителят да бъде пуснат вътре. Човек може да си спомни за Али Баба и четиридесетте разбойника, като види керваните от магарета да спират пред тези врати и любопитните мулетари с чалми на главите да чукат и да чакат да им отворят. Тук горният, леко издаден напред втори етаж е с паянтов градеж - бял с изключение на по една синя ивица на всеки ъгъл, или пък оставен с цвета на покриващата скелета глина и украсен с малтийски кръстове от борови греди. Тук-там решетките разкриват турски харем. Но турците почти са изпразнили България и рядко можеш да срещнеш техния език и костюм. Напускаме този квартал и влизаме в следващия, където прозорците са качени още по-високо на стената. Къщите гледат настрани, както е в Румъния, и към малки градинки между плочите на улицата. Внезапно излизаме на високата и островърха пожарна кула, „центъра" на всеки български град.

Гледката от това място и от малкото възвишение отзад е несравнима. Нито Неапол по залез, нито заливът Джорджиън бей, нито Которският залив могат да оставят толкова трайно впечатление; тъй като на всичките им липсват тези багри, които тук ни представят редиците къщи от двете страни, намръщените скали отзад и старата турски джамия - като тези, които се виждат по снимките на стария Витлеем - на гребена на хълма.

Тук намерихме изкушаваща малка кръчма и се отбихме да опитаме местната бира и пресните смокини, които мястото можеше да предложи; след това продължихме обиколката. Най-накрая бяхме открили Изтока - Изтока от книжките с приказки. Уличките ставаха все по-тесни - всъщност толкова свити на места, че мъжете с кобилици за вода на раменете едва съумяваха да минат. Там където се разширяваха, пред къщите се появяваха веранди и имаше малки прозорчета, през които можехме да надникнем към варосани стаи с железни кревати и религиозни картини по стените.
Няколко ученици, които играеха в сянката на една градинска стена, скочиха на крака и ни поздравиха, като минавахме край тях. Забелязахме шапките им, с обръчи от чортова кожа, плоско дъно от ален плат и позлатен малтийски кръст. В България и момчетата, и момичетата носят еднакви униформи, които се променят съвсем малко съобразно с това, в кой клас са и ако някое дете направи беля, човек само трябва да мине през съответната класна стая, за да открие виновника. Освен това тази еднаквост премахва завистта между бедни и богати.

Отново минава амбулантен търговец, но в Търново както те, така и просяците са малко. Тук-там срещаме селяни в традиционни костюми, но хората предпочитат европейската мода.

На една сергия сред множеството местни изгледи, изложени за продан, намерихме и сувенирна картичка с профила на Рузвелт. За сметка на това снимките на княз Фердинанд определено са редки, при Все че князът е доста популярен.

Търново затваря магазините си. Продавачите свалят нанизите от плоски червени сушени колбаси, които са окачени на сергиите подобно на редицата семена на акация. Един офицер от армията със сини панталони и шапка и куртка в бяло взема своето овнешко печено и касапинът затръшва вратата. Прибират манната небесна от дюкяните с плодове, а там където се продават луксозни свещи, туркиня с покрито лице, от което се вижда само частта между горната устна и клепачите, бърза да направи последна покупка. Една сграда, подобна на аркада, но без покрив, подслонява редица дюкяни, които също затварят.

Канехме се да посетим някои от тях, когато приятелят сграбчи ръката ми по свойствения за него конвулсивен начин.
- Виж! О, виж! Това е гордостта на България! - каза той и въздъхна нервно.
Погледнах в посоката, в която сочеше пръстът му, и там, на балкона, стоеше балканската Мадона - една от тези редки красавици на южната славянска раса (иначе не особено известна с красивите си жени), която остава в спомените на човек много след като всяка друга йота от градовете и къщите е била забравена. Моята търновска лейди беше достойна за четката на художника - така както я видяхме. обрамчена от прозореца на старинната
триетажна къща и с цветята на галерията в основата на платното. Очите и имаха черно-кафявия цвят, характерен за Южните Балкани; кожата и беше маслинена, а косата и, разделена на път - гарвановочерна. Истинска Жулиета за някой балкански Ромео. Но тя не би участвала и в най-малкия флирт и - уловила погледите ни - извърна глава, разкривайки половин дузина фини плитки, които се подаваха изпод забрадката. След това изчезна в стаята. Приятелят влезе в пекарната отдолу и купи самун местен хляб - „да хапне нещо", както каза, но всъщност нахрани с по-голямата част прасетата и кончетата, които срещнахме по княжеското шосе. Въздържах се да възразя, само отбелязах, че местните хора ни гледат накриво заради тази екстравагантност. В Търново хлябът струва цели четири цента самуна.

Трима ученици, които говореха френски, ни последваха и след това станаха наши водачи. Отведоха ни на пазара за месо, където старите турци спореха сред агнешки плешки, от които капеше мазнина, а волове теглеха тежките каруци към ковашката махала. Там селяните с раирани ризи и потури водеха кончетата си да бъдат подковани. И най-накрая, в самите покрайнини, където човек може да види африканския бивол, полегнал край каруцата, в която е впрегнат, докато селянинът върши работата си в града или докато - вече по-късно - пали край животното огън, събира семейството, пече лютивите чушки (мангото или лютите камби на Балканите) и пие Вино - сцена, която изключително много прилича на прерийните лагери в нашия Запад от времето, когато републиката беше млада. Приятелят обаче не прояви интерес. Образът на Жулиета още се мержелееше пред очите му. Дори армейските офицери от крепостта, един от които беше ходил в Ню Йорк, не успяха да го отърсят от този блян. Затова се отправихме към хотела за вечеря, после аз към бележника, а той към леглото, докато грамофонът на долния етаж гърмеше с откъси от „Кармен".

Велико Търново привлича за строителство големи търговски вериги

С близо 1000 разрешителни за строеж на нови жилищни и офисни сгради, сателитни ваканционни селища и търговски центрове Велико Търново се радва на инвестиционен бум. Икономиката на областта за една година отчита ръст от 22,5 %. 40 млн. евро са вложенията само в града за 2006 г.

В него са се настанили или възнамеряват да строят през тази и следващата година повечето европейски марки хипермаркети. Последни сред тях са "Практис" и "Метро", както и „Билла”. Започнал е и втори етап от изграждането на "Търговски парк Велико Търново". Проучванията правят германската компания „Лидъл” за бързоликвидни стоки, която е в една група и с „Кауфланд”. Последната компания се е насочила към кв. „Бузлуджа”. „От „Билла” проучвали възможността за два магазина, не само на главния път за Варна.

Купени са терени и за магазини на веригата за хранителни и промишлени стоки “Пени маркет” и специализираните магазини за килими и настилки “Карпет макс” на мястото на бившите военни имоти на “Воинтех” на кръстовището с ул. “Беляковско шосе”.

Силен интерес компаниите проявявали към парцел до Медицинския колеж и към свободни терени на областната болница, преговори се водят и с частни собственици, обяснили за в. „Янтра днес” от компанията за недвижими имоти „Ера Балкан истейт”.

Фирмите смятали супермаркетите да бъдат с площи от 3000-4000 кв. м, пише местният вестник.

Интерес има и към жилищните комплекс от затворен тип, в момента имало задвижени 5 проекта.

Пивоварна „Болярка” разработва нов вид бира

3 млн. евро инвестира в нова техника компанията, превзема и румънския пазар

НОВ ВИД СПЕЦИАЛНА БИРА БЕЗ АНАЛОГ НА НАШИЯ ПАЗАР ТРЯБВА ДА ПУСНЕ НА ПАЗАРА ДО ЕСЕНТА ПИВОВАРНА „БОЛЯРКА”, ИНФОРМИРА ШЕФЪТ Й ИНЖ. Антон Ненов. Продуктът е собствена разработка и над него се работи в пълна секретност. „Какво ще представлява новата бира знаят единствено трима човека освен мен. Строгите мерки за сигурност са заради това да не станем жертви на промишлен шпионаж и някой от конкурентите ни да реши да ни изпреварва в последния момент”, коментира Ненов. Очакванията за новия продукт на местната бирена фабрика са доста големи. Конкретните качества и наименование на новата бира ще бъдат обявени в последния момент, броени дни преди да бъде пусната в търговската мрежа. Директорът довери единствено, че става въпрос за бутикова и не масова бира, която трябва да се превърне в хит.
3 млн. евро инвестиции е направила пивоварната от началото на тази година. Парите са вложени за закупуването на втора модерна линия за бутилиране, издувна машина и нова хладилна система. Предстои доставката и на нови 6 цилиндрично-конични съда за ферментация и отлежаване на бирата.
С оборудването „Болярка ВТ” ще увеличи капацитета си, за да поема и допълнителни поръчки. В момента тя прави собствена марка пиво за три големи хранителни вериги. Във Велико Търново се прави пивото „Амброзиус” за „Кауфланд”, „Нашенско” за веригата „Метро”, и „Царско” за СВА. Наскоро дружеството е изнесло и малки количества за големи хранителни вериги в Испания и Италия.
„БОЛЯРКА” ВЕЧЕ СТОИ СТАБИЛНО И НА РУМЪНСКИЯ ПАЗАР.
Почти цяла Южна Румъния пие великотърновско пиво. На месец в тази посока се експортират по над 500 тона, което е около 10 на сто от капацитета на бирената фабрика. „Нашият продукт е много по-качествен и евтин от този, който има в северната ни съседка, и затова ни харесват клиентите”, обяснява Антон Ненов. Северните ни съседи се разхлаждат с „Болярка”, „Кингс” и „Калтенберг”.
Заради нарасналото производство фирмата бележи над 20 на сто ръст в продажбите.
Директорът на предприятието обаче прогнозира, че лошата реколта от ечемик ще доведе до поскъпване на основната суровина, от която се прави бирата. Това почти сигурно ще се отрази и на крайната цена на пивото.

Vse pak Sofia e stolicata na Bulgaria. A tarnovo naistina e mnogo hubav:) .

Neznam kade zhiveesh mdka, no moja grad e mnogo blizo do "starata stolica na Bulgaria" taka che normalno e da haresvam tolkova mnogo Veliko Tarnovo, pak i toi naistina e ocharovatelen. Sto se otnasia do Sofia normalno e toi da e nai-krasiv, tai kato sega toi e stolicata ni. Nie balgarite vinagi sme se starali stolicite ni da sa naiq i da prilichar na nai-velikite gradove:) .

Мощите на петимата български държавници кан Кубрат/632-660 г./, кан Аспарух /660-701 г./, цар Ивайло /1277-1280 г./, Михаил Шишман /1323-1330 г./ и цар Георги Тертер /1280-1292 г./ ще почиват в църквата "Св.40 мъченици" във Велико Търново, съобщиха от НИМ.

При препогребването на цар Калоян в църквата "Св. 40 мъченици" - филиал на Националния исторически музей във Велико Търново през м. април т.г., много хора изказаха пожелания храмът да се превърне в мавзолей на българските средновековни държавници.

В изпълнение на това пожелание директорът на НИМ Божидар Димитров командирова в Украйна експедиция, ръководена от доц. Пламен Павлов от Университета във Велико Търново, където руски археолози отдавна бяха открили погребенията на българските владетели кан Кубрат /632-660 г./, кан Аспарух /660-701 г./ и цар Ивайло /1277-1280 г-/.

Тримата български владетели са били погребани съответно край Полтава, Малая Перешчепина и Исакча.

Друга експедиция донесе от Македония пръст и пепел от изтлелите кости на българския владетел Михаил Шишман /1323-1330 г./, загинал в битка край Кюстендил и погребан в църквата "Св. Георги" в село Старо Нагоричане, Кумановско.

Пепел и пръст са взети и от гроба на цар Георги Тертер /1280-1292 г./, чийто гроб бе открит преди известно време край средновековния град Червеи, Русенско.

Мощите на петимата владетели са положени в мраморни ковчежета, които ще бъдат положени в големи мраморни саркофази в църквата. Кметът на Велико Търново г-н Румен Рашев ще финансира устройството на саркофазите и надписите върху тях.

Денят, в който мощите на петте български държавници ще бъдат препогребани с полагащите им се държавни и религиозни церемонии, ще бъде уточнен допълнително и съобщен на медиите.

С този акт ще бъде оказана почит на всички висши средновековни български държавници, чиито гробове са известни на историческата наука с изключение на мощите на цар Самуил, намиращи се в Гърция и чието препогребване е обект на продължаващи преговори с гръцката страна.

Националният исторически музей се надява, че християнска Гърция не би оставила костите на един християнин като цар Самуил без християнско погребение, съобщават от НИМ.

@ Anto. the festival is held in the last week of July and the first of August each year. It is worth visiting as it is Veliko Tarnovo ... it is a shame you are half bulgarian and half brit and you never been there :) If you decide to come some day pm me too :cheers:

Hotel number 100 will be open this week in Veliko Tarnovo.
This year's tourist growth is 20%. 270 000 tourists have visited the city's museums since 1st January to 1st September.

Since year 2000 the number of tourists have risen 3 times ...
in the next 10 years the local tourist industry (with 15 000 employees) expexts more than 4 mln. tourists to visit the city :cheers:

Около 20 % ръст на туристическата индустрия отчита към края на туристическия сезон Община Велико Търново спрямо м.г. Над 270 хил. туристи са посетили музейните обекти в старата столица само от началото на годината до 1 септември, съобщи Янтра днес. Всеки втори се е разходил из крепостните стени на Царевец.

През последните осем години се наблюдава устойчива тенденция на трайно увеличаване на броя на туристите, посетили Велико Търново и Арбанаси.

В сравнение с 2000 г. сега туристопотокът е нараснал трикратно, отчетоха Даниел Панов, управител на общинската туристическа агенция “Царевград Търнов”, и н.с. Иван Църов, директор на Регионалния исторически музей.

Според прогнозите, изготвени от специалисти, очакванията са, че Велико Търново и регионът през следващите 10-15 г. ще бъдат посетени от близо 3 млн. български и около 1 млн. чуждестранни туристи, каза кметът на общината д-р Румен Рашев.

До дни откриваме стотния хотел във Велико Търново, съобщи д-р Рашев. В момента в града са регистрирани и категоризирани 95 хотела, къщи за гости, хостели и пансиони.

В процедура на регистрация и категоризация са още 12 обекта. Хотелите предлагат над 2500 места за настаняване. До 1 август т.г. хотелиерите са внесли в общинския бюджет близо 35 хил. лв. туристически такси.

Събираемостта е ниска, защото не е уточнен механизмът на нейното регистриране, обясни д-р Рашев. Над 15 хил. човека работят в туристическата индустрия в община В. Търново, което я определя като една от водещите за икономиката на региона.

Очаква се скоро на крепостта “Царевец” да има подвижен мост над сечената скала, както е било по времето на Второто българско царство, каза вчера д-р Рашев. Разработката е съвместна между Общината и военния завод “Терем – Ивайло”. Проектът ще се финансира изцяло от общинския бюджет. Мостът сутрин ще се спуска и вечер ще се вдига, както е било преди шест века.

Вчера в Световния ден на туризма цар и царица обявяваха всеки турист за символичен гражданин на старопрестолния Търновград.

От догодина високопоставените гости на Велико Търново ще получават специална старопрестолна грамота, удостоверяваща за посещението в Царевград Търнов, столица на България от 1185 до 1393 г. На нея са изписани търновските владетели и 17-те търновски патриарси, както и светиите, покровители на старата столица.

Ancient Bulgaria Presents: Veliko Tarnovo

Here in Bulgaria's former royal capital, even a budget traveler can live like a king.
Let's start with the dinner at the Gurko Tavern, a cozy restaurant and hotel built into a cliff overlooking a canyon carved out by the snaking Yantra River.

Starving after eight hours on the train from Bucharest, Romania, my husband, Tom, and I started with King's beers (worth buying just for the opener built into the bottom of each bottle) and a platter of roasted red and green bell peppers. Then it was cold yogurt soup with cucumbers, baked trout and crepes with bananas and ice cream. The bill was 20 Bulgarian lev, the equivalent of about $14.

We might have snagged one of the Gurko's 11 rooms with balconies, AC and cable TV ($68), but the hotel was booked. So we ended up next door at the new Nomads Hostel, where we paid $35 for a private room - bathroom down the hall but the same great view.

Perched on the steep sides of an S-shaped gorge in the foothills of the Balkan Mountains, Veliko Turnovo became the capital of Bulgaria's restored 2nd kingdom following the overthrow of Byzantine rulers in 1185.

Art and architecture, culture and trade flourished before the Turks invaded in 1393. After Bulgaria's liberation from the Ottomans in the late 1800s, Sofia became the capital, but Turnovo remained a center for crafts and trade, attracting wealthy merchants who built fine homes and supported the restoration of monasteries and churches.

Best explored on foot by wandering the narrow streets of its old town, the ancient former capital today is a mixture of all that's new in post-Communist Bulgaria - casinos, pubs and outdoor cafes filled with British tourists sipping $1 cappuccinos and beers - and much that's old, from a medieval castle to domed churches and 19th-century merchant houses tucked along hidden paths and stairways.

The oldest street is Gurko. Cobblestoned and mostly pedestrian, it skirts the side of the gorge across from the sprawling formerly communist-owned Grand Hotel Veliko Turnovo.

Above Gurko are several tiers of white stucco buildings that lean into the narrow streets of the 19th-century bazaar quarter. Most of the buildings that once housed shops for craftsmen, weavers and bakers are filled now with cafes, shops and boutique hotels or guesthouses.

The ruins of the medieval Tsarevets castle on a hill are impressive, but the most striking views - and maybe the oddest, given Tbrnovo's reputation as a hip university town - are of the State Art Museum and a huge black monument dedicated to two brothers who liberated Bulgaria from the Byzantines.

The museum is a massive stone building that holds a collection of art mostly acquired during communist times. Hardly anyone visits (a woman came with keys to unlock the doors when we rang the bell), but so far nobody has proposed replacing it with something else.

"Bulgaria is a country of paradoxes," Fedio, the young owner of Nomads Hostel, told a group of us gathered on his balcony one evening for conversation and his homemade apple brandy.

Turnovo is easily reached by train or bus, but many of the surrounding area's treasures lie hidden in the forests and mountains, and the only practical way to see them is by car.

We took Fedio up on an offer to be our driver and guide for a day for $40, about what we would have paid for a rental car alone. Sixty or so miles from town, centuries of history unfolded, and as Fedio predicted, a few paradoxes.

We stopped first at the Dryanovski Monastery, destroyed during an uprising against the Turks, then rebuilt after liberation. Its river location makes it a peaceful spot for a picnic. For those who want to stay longer, there's a small hotel where double rooms with forest and river views go for $21.

Fedio drove us over the twisting Shipka mountain pass and into the Valley of the Roses where growers produce about 70 percent of the world's rose extract for perfumes, oils, etc.

Poking through the trees were a crop of gold, onion-shaped domes. Shipka was the site of an important battle fought by Bulgarians and their Russian liberators against the Turks, and an Orthodox church built in Russian style stands as a memorial.

Ancient burial mounds dot this part of inland Bulgaria. It's possible to visit the 2,300-year-old tomb of a Thracian ruler inside what looks like a futuristic glass concrete entrance to an underground house.

Juxtaposed to all of this is one of the strangest sites you'd expect to see in the wilderness - a huge, spaceship-shaped concrete monument atop a mountain called Mount Buzludzha.

Left from the communist era and marked by a huge red star, it sits on the spot where leaders founded the Bulgarian Socialist Party in a secret meeting in 1891.

To get there, we parked the car and hiked along a steep path. The walk brought back memories for Fedio, who was 11 when communism fell in 1989.

It took the military years to build it, and soldiers died as they worked in the wind and cold.

"It's the way Communists showed their power - by building things of huge, solid blocks," he said. "And now it's dead." The building is lonely and abandoned at the top of one of Bulgaria's most scenic lookouts, not far from another important historical marker, the Freedom Monument, which commemorates a battle that eventually led to the defeat of the Ottoman Turks.

Another paradox for sure. On a clear day, standing here looking out over a country that's enjoying its freedom once again, it was one worth savoring.

I wouldn't call it typical at all. Some of the architecture is Southeast Balkans/Ottoman but everything else is just surprising and breathtaking.

It's as though someone took the Elve's kingdom in Lord of the Rings, mixed in the Great Wall of China, a little Berat, a little Sarajevo, a whole lot of ancient Bulgaria - a few dashes of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, with a little bit of the Grand Canyon and called it a day.

That church/monument located on the peak, connected to the rest of the city by a bridge on either side is just unreal. And the wall, with the church on the mountain peak is gorgeous. The narrow, winding streets are like a glorified version of coastal Italy. It's just...

This is my new favorite non-Sarajevo city. :) Sorry Istanbul. ;)

Преуспелият великотърновец от Лас Вегас предостави безвъзмездно на МОБАЛ супер модерна хирургична апаратура на стойност 500 000 евро !

„Трябва да имаш сърце, за да инвестираш в медицината”, казва Георги Ганчев

Великотърновецът Георги Ганчев, който е живял 10 години в Америка, закупи и предостави на областната болница безвъзмездно медицинска апаратура за 500 000 евро. Техниката е от фалирала болница в Гринбей, в щата Уискънсън, и почти не е употребявана. От тази апаратура, която се използва основно в неврохирургията, са произведени само 500 броя, а създателят на новото ноу-хау е немец. В България такава техника има само във Военната болница, но тя е от по-старо поколение.

Щастлива случайност отвежда в Америка 19-годишния Георги, който разказа, че това е било неговата най-голяма мечта от детинство. От вестник прочита, че плевенска фирма урежда 7-дневна екскурзии за Щатите. И макар да е съвсем млад, приемат на интервю младежа в американското посолство в София. Още след разговора от комисията съобщават, че великотърновецът е одобрен и да дойде следобед да си получи визата.

„Тръгнах за Америка с мизерни пари, баща ми вече беше пенсионер. Поисках от приятели, но никой не ми даде. Дори дядо ми. А сега, знаеш ли, колко ми искат?", си спомня Георги. Така търновецът каца със 150 долара в Ню Йорк. После решава да отиде на гости при приятел във Флорида, обаче не го намира. Но се запознава с други българи и остава там.

Година и половина Георги Ганчев чисти магазини при един поляк, но после поема сам бизнеса. Събира някой лев. След две години решава да отиде на екскурзия в Лас Вегас и остава там. „Бях 248 000-ият гражданин, който се регистрира да живее там, в момента градът е над 3 млн. души. Градът е израснал пред очите ми, казва великотърновецът. Кара такси, работи в заведения, сближава се с българи.

После Георги, завършил строителния техникум във Велико Търново, се запознава с богат евреин, собственик на известната канадско-американска фирма „Трипъл файф”, разположена на три континента. Той му помага много в строителния бизнес в Лас Вегас. Българинът започва да строи офиси и къщи, признава, че доста работи е научил от евреина, който е собственик на най-големия мол в САЩ, на баскетболната зала в Лос Анжелис. Построява си собствена къща, замогва се. За разлика от много българи, аз не проиграх парите се в казината на Лас Вегас, признава търновецът.

Нелепата смърт на бащата на Георги връща успелия българин във Велико Търново. Много се чудих дали да се върна, но сега се запалих по медицината след смъртта на баща ми и реших да помагам на търновската болница, която работи със стара апаратура, казва бизнесменът. Ганчев смята, че американската апаратура ще подтикне Щатите да инвестират във Велико Търново. Той прави сравнение с американските болници и мечтае и в България да посрещат пациента като роднина.

Георги Ганчев разказа, че като пристигнала медицинската техника от Гринбей на митницата в софийското летище, имало голям хаос. В това време се обадили с предимство да обмитят дисковете на Слави Трифонов. Митничарката обаче отсякла: „Слави да чака”. По-важно е да се спаси човешки живот и за два часа апаратурата била освободена.
Искам не болните да ходят в София да се лекуват, а тук - във Велико Търново, да разполагат с модерна техника и моите съграждани да бъдат уважавани, твърди младият бизнесмен. Георги Ганчев заяви, че ще помогне с медицинска техника и на още няколко големи болници в страната и вече води преговори с директорите им.

Макар да си е продал богатството в Лас Вегас, преуспелият великотърновец поддържа връзка с еврейския си приятел Джоузеф. Вероятно ще успея да го убедя да инвестира във Велико Търново в областната болница. А защо да не построим модерен медицински център?

Трябва да имаш сърце, за да инвестираш в медицината, защото парите се връщат след години, твърди Ганчев. Разбира се, 31-годишният мъж си има и друг бизнес, има автокъща, занимава се със строителство и др. Знае за проблема на търновското неонатологично отделение, което има нужда от апарати за доотглеждане на недоносените бебета. Още повече че след месец очаква първото си дете.

Георги Ганчев разказа, че в Америка вече са в употреба нови хапчета за диабетици. Великотърновецът обеща, че ще се постарае да се ускори разпространението им в България, защото кой знае след колко години биха дошли у нас.
А с новата американска апаратура великотърновските неврохирурзи спасиха живота на две жени и един мъж, които се чувстват добре и вече са изписани. За пръв път неврохирурзите оперираха дефект на мозъчен кръвоносен съд и тумори на хипофизата.

A new street all the way from the south entrance of the city to "Tsarevets" will be built along the river bed. Yantra itself will be blocked with a bent and made floatable. Small atraction trains are planned to be running on the street to take the toruists from the entrance of Veliko Tarnovo , to the south gate of Tsarevets , that will also be opened ... From the same place the future lift to Arabanasi village is planned to be build.

Д-р Рашев: „Чакаме 300 хил. лв. от ПУДООС за проектиране”

Един от големите проекти, които залага за следващия си мандат д-р Румен Рашев, заедно с изграждането на подземни паркинги е специална улица по крайбрежието на река Янтра. Т.нар. улица „Крайбрежна” е проектирана отчасти преди близо 30 години, но… проектите са изгубени. Създаването й е една от отдавнашните мечти на търновци. Досега обаче концепцията за създаването й не е намерила реално измерение. „През двата си досегашни мандата усилено търсих информация по темата. Направени са и много предварителни проучвания. Не крия, че на този проект залагам много. Той е необходим и за създаването на нов туристически продукт”, каза д-р Румен Рашев.

ОБЩИНА ВЕЛИКО ТЪРНОВО ВЕЧЕ Е КАНДИДАТСТВАЛА С ПРОЕКТ ПРЕД ПРЕДПРИЯТИЕТО ЗА УПРАВЛЕНИЕ НА ДЕЙНОСТИТЕ ПО ОПАЗВАНЕ НА ОКОЛНАТА СРЕДА /ПУДООС/ към МОСВ. „Кандидатствахме в средата на тази година и смятам, че ще получим необходимото финансиране от около 300 хил. лв. за изготвянето на цялостен работен проект. Само чрез него може да се намерят средства за крайбрежната улица по оперативна програма „Околна среда”, информира д-р Румен Рашев.
Бъдещата улица „Крайбрежна” ще започва от Южния пътен възел и ще се простира чак до Бейския мост в началото на кв. Света гора под Балдуиновата кула. По протежението на реката ще се оформи път, по който ще преминават туристите. По него биха могли да се движат атракционни влакчета и даже теснолинейка. Така гостите на града ще слизат на самия му вход и свободно ще се отправят към старата част, без да влизат в натовареното движение в центъра. Стигайки до Балдуиновата кула, те могат да влизат и през южната порта на „Царевец”, която ще се отвори за целта. По този начин в крепостта ще може да се влиза и откъм „Френхисар” така, както е било някога. Точно там трябва да започва и лифтът към Арбанаси, за който вече има готов проект и кандидати да го финансират, обясни досегашният кмет. Така гостите на града ще разглеждат цялото поречие на реката, живописно разположените къщи и ще стигат до крепостта, от където ще се отправят в посока Арбанаси, поясни още той и припомни, че през следващия мандат ще се реализира и проектът за другия лифт, който ще се движи между паметника на Н. Пиколо и подножието му, където минава главният път Русе – Стара Загора, където ще се оформи и паркинг. Създаването му също има за цел да облекчи трафика на коли и автобуси в централната и старата част на Велико Търново. „Подобни начини за предвижване има в редица европейски градове, като Залцбург, Хайделберг, Будапеща. Оттам сме заимствали концепцията си”, коментира още д-р Рашев. Той е категоричен, че със създаването на улица „Крайбрежна” няма да се посяга на коритото на реката, която е един от символите на старата столица.
КАТО ЧАСТ ОТ АТРАКЦИИТЕ ПОКРАЙ КРАЙБРЕЖНАТА УЛИЦА ЩЕ Е И ПОВДИГАНЕТО НА НИВОТО НА РЕКАТА. За целта ще се използва бентът под крепостта „Царевец”, част от който е изграден, но не функционира. Целта е пред „Интерхотел Велико Търново” и паметника „Асеневци”, където е най-красивата й част, да стане плавателна. Това също е един отдавнашен проект, който все още не е реализиран, но за него ще се работи през следващия мандат.
Според предварителните изследвания на община В. Търново Янтра се простира през града на дължина от 13 километра от Чолаковци до „Родопа”. Разликата в нивата й е около 50 метра, поясни д-р Рашев.
Част от трасето за новата улица „Крайбрежна” е подготвено още преди 30 години. Тогава до интерхотела е направен дублиращ колектор за отпадни води. Първият етап от създаване на трасето ще е именно от интерхотела до Южния пътен възел. Заради наличието на някои от съоръженията цената за създаването му ще е около 1 милион евро, сочат предварителните разчети.
„Преди да се направи самата улица, е нужно оформянето на коритото на реката, строителството на подпорни стени и укрепването на колектора”, категоричен е д-р Рашев. Бреговете ще се укрепват основно с габиони, но на подходящи места ще се ползва и естественото речно корито, както и бетонни подпори.
„Габионите са естествен камък, който е изключително здрав. Върху него може спокойно да се полага и асфалтова настилка и да се предвижва голямо натоварване”, обясни градоначалникът. Първите габиони вече държат здраво бреговете на реката точно под църквата „Св. 40 мъченици”. Този способ се налага и заради изискването строежите да не контрастират с културните паметници. „Не може един такъв проект да се работи на парче. Първо ще се направи укрепването на реката и изграждането на стените. Върху тях трябва да легне и самият път. Представям си го по-скоро като една алея за разходки, по която ще могат да се движат примерно влакчета с туристи. Улицата не може да бъде толкова широка и да поема част от пътния трафик. Просто условията не го позволяват”, обясни намеренията си кандидатът за трети мандат.

Осветиха 90-килограмова икона на свети Климент Охридски

Тя е подарък за църквата „Св. 40 мъченици”

ИКОНА НА СВЕТИ КЛИМЕНТ ОХРИДСКИ БЕШЕ ОСВЕТЕНА ВЧЕРА ОТ ВЕЛИКОТЪРНОВСКИЯ МИТРОПОЛИТ ГРИГОРИЙ по време на литургия в църквата „Св. 40 мъченици”. Иконата тежи 90 кг и е 2,50 метра дълга. Изработена е от най-прочутия македонски иконописец Койчо Айновски по поръчка на кандидата за кмет на Велико Търново д-р Румен Рашев и инициативния комитет, който издига неговата кандидатура. Иконописецът е работил над дърворезбованата икона в продължение на шест месеца, за да направи образа на Климент Охридски в цял ръст.
Преди да пристигне във Велико Търново, иконата е била на гроба на свети Климент в едноименната църква на хълма Плаошник в Охрид, за да поеме сила и благословение. Дърворезбата беше донесена в старата столица от кмета на Охрид Александър Петрески при първото му официално посещение тук.
Вчера в църквата „Св. 40 мъченици” беше отслужена и панихида по повод 800-годишнината от гибелта на цар Калоян. На литургията присъстваха десетки жители, политици и представители на държавни и обществени институции.

After 8 years Veliko Tarnovo will have again an ice skating ring ... I am a bit dissapointed though... This one will be temporar from November to march , while the old one that has been removed to build some residentials on teh place was almost like a small stadium :ohno:

Велико Търново отново с ледена пързалка

На среща с представители на 12 младежки неправителствени организаци, независимият кандидат за кмет Румен Рашев, съобщи, че пред Медицинския колеж във Велико Търново ще бъде изградена нова ледена пързалка, предадоха Янтра Днес.

Софийската фирма "Леден свят" вече е подписала договор с Общината, а подготвянето на съоръжението ще започне всеки момент. Пързалката ще функционира от ноември до март, но според интереса на великотърновци може да стане постоянно функционираща.

Тя ще бъде от открит тип с площ от 600 кв.м. и може да работи при температура до плюс 12 градуса. След демонтажа й има възможност да се използва като комплекс за скейтборд.

Така след 8 години във Велико Търново отново ще има ледена пързалка. Старата ледена пързалка бе направена в края на 70-те години и работи до 1999 г. Тя вече не съществува.

Сградата с компресорите на амонячната инсталация и трибуните през миналата година станаха собственост на строителни предприемачи, които започнаха строителство на две жилищни сгради с офиси.

Local Boliarka Brewery Presents Warsteiner Beer in Bulgaria

Veliko Turnovo's brewery ‘Boliarka' will present on Bulgarian market the German beer Warsteiner, informed from the German company.

Boliarka will import and sell Warsteiner marks in Bulgaria from high-price class.

Warsteiner's distribution will be mainly directed to bigger Bulgarian cities, winter and summer resorts, luxury restaurants and pubs.

Boliarka and Warsteiner are already working together on another project - licensed production of Kaltenberg brand, also in Veliko Turnovo.

The German concern participates in the aristocratic Bavarian brewery, that dates from 1753.

"Metro" won't be finished this year, defenetely ... :( Let's hope for next spring then.

btw ... the building of the new mall was really started for some of the bancrupted banks of the early 90ies. I remember that it was last property of DZI and Emil Kiulev wanted to finish it and make it the official HQ of DZI Bank for Bulgaria... but he got shot and it was sold .

Уникална археологическа база отваря врати на хълма “Трапезица” догодина

Националният институт за паметниците на културата (НИПК) одобри проекта за изгаждане на археологическа база на хълма “Трапезица” над Велико Търново, съобщиха от пресцентъра на Министерството на културата, което отпусна 300 хил. лв. за реализацията на обекта.

Уникалната сграда ще функционира като инфо-център и музей, разположени на терен от 250 кв. м. Очаква се строителните дейности по грубия строеж на приключат в рамките на тази година, а цялата база да бъде завършена до началото на следващия археологически сезон.

Проектът е дело на арх. Пламен Цанев.

^^ btw ... the ministry of Culture have given 3 mln. lv. for the excavation and restoration of Trapezica hill citadel for this and the next year. This weekend i saw that they have done quite a lot of work on the restoration of the south walls and the gate facing Tsarevets and the old town. Hopefully in 1-2 years time "Trapezica" will be one more tourist attraction in the town. Honestly i think that there are many things worth seeing.

Now some projects from VT ...

The first one was ment to be built on the place of the old and ruined summer cinema at the lower end of "Marno Pole" Park in the center of the city.
It was going to be a covered amphitheatre concert hall with 1200 seats + Office buildings + Hotel. One Sofia company playing on the tender however made a plead in court about the result of the concurs and for now this project is freezed.

I am just curious about the new housing projects because when I was a kid, I used to spend my summers in V. Tarnovo. I was pretty familiar with the city. Now, there are many new buildings and the city is changing. But I still want to know about all the new projects.

Good News for the Knives factory "Terna" in VT :cheers:
40% growth in production this year.
The train between London and Paris uses knives , forks and spoons made in Veliko Tarnovo. The factory plans to atack the North american market the next year. So far major export partners are Netherlands, Chez rep. , Romania & Belgium :cheers:

Започва производството на ножове от азотирана стомана,
която се използва в самолетостроенето

40 на сто ръст на производството отчита за една година великотърновската ножарска фабрика “Терна * 1923” АД, каза изпълнителният директор инж. Иван Атанасов. Производствените мощности се натоварват ритмично и постоянно през годината, а износът нараства и делът му достига половината от произведените количества домакински и професионални ножове и кухненски прибори.
Инж. Атанасов категорично отрече информацията, че в ножарската фабрика “се произвеждат” ножове и кухненски прибори внос от Индия и Китай. Преди няколко години имаше инцидентен внос на по 20 тона прибори от Азия, върху които във Велико Търново само се поставяше фирменият щемпел, заяви той.
През февруари и март догодина ножарската фабрика ще участва в изложенията в Амбиенте (Германия) и Чикаго (САЩ), които са най-големите панаири в бранша. За тях се подготвя ново производство ножове. Те ще са от азотирана стомана, каквато се използва в самолетостроенето. Тези ножове са много по-гъвкави и 3 пъти по-дълго запазват режещите си свойства в сравнение с обикновените кухненски ножове, обясниха от дружеството. Такъв тип ножове сега в света произвежда само френската компания “Викторинокс”.
Великотърновски прибори се използват в кетъринга на влака от Париж до Лондон през Ламанша, съобщи шефът на ножарската фабрика. През ноември в “Терна * 1923” се изпълняват поръчки за износ за Холандия, Чехия, Румъния и Белгия. Общото количество през този месец за експорт е близо 55 хиляди бройки ножове. До дни се очаква подписването на договор за сирийския пазар за 21 хил. ножа, каза инж. Иван Атанасов. Месечно оборотът от продажби за експорт в ножарската фабрика е от 80 до 100 хил. лв., посочи изпълнителният директор на “Терна * 1923” АД.
Мениджърските планове за догодина са привличането на най-малко още 4 клиента за експорт и стъпване на северноамериканския пазар. Вътрешният пазар е разпределен и възможностите са изчерпани, защото великотърновски ножове и домакински прибори се продават във всички хипермаркети и големи търговски вериги у нас, каза инж. Иван Атанасов.

Veliko Tarnovo Fights Crashes with Wrecks

2 December 2007, Sunday

Authorities in the town of Veliko Tarnovo in northwestern Bulgaria have started placing car wrecks in public places to discourage drivers from driving recklessly.

The wrecked cars will remain on display until the end of the year, at least, local traffic police chief Valyo Tsenev said.

Police in Veliko Tarnovo have fined one in ten of the nearly 3.600 cars checked in the two weeks between November 12 and 25, either for speeding or drink driving.

In the region alone, there were 241 heavy car crashes registered so far this year, which killed 38 people, more than half more than in 2006.

110 mln. euro are the investments this year in Veliko Tarnovo. The increase is 300% compared with the previous year. :cheers:


Над 220 милиона лева влизат във В. Търново

Инвестициите са три пъти повече от миналата година.

Над 220 млн. лв. са инвестициите, направени през тази година във Велико Търново. Вложенията са 3 пъти повече от миналата година. Рекордите са в строителството.
Освен в изграждане на жилищни сгради и комплекси през годината се разрастна т.нар. промишлено строителство. На запад от старата столица се оформя промишлена зона от различни предприятия. Значителни вложения тази година отчитат и структороопределящите великотърновски дружества. Милиони левове се “вкарват” в инфраструктура.
Българо-израелската компания “Велико Търново дивелопмънт” влага 50 млн. евро в първото жилищно сателитно селище “Велико Търново хилс”. Селището в местността Трошана е разчетено за 4000 жители. До една година можем да посрещнем първите новодомци, каза инвеститорът Петър Христов. В процес на реализация са още пет сателитни селища и квартали от затворен тип. Над 40 млн. лв. възлиза инвестицията в сателитни квартали около КАТ.
Във Велико Търново направиха най-голямата фабрика за сладкарски изделия на Балканите. 15 млн. евро вложи фирма “Лачита”. Разкриват се 200 работни места. “Лачита” изнася продукция в 10 държави от Европа и Африка. Капацитетът на производство е 40 т. сладкарски изделия в денонощие.
5 млн. евро инвестира т.г. в ново технологично оборудване пивоварната “Болярка ВТ”. Тя произвежда годишно по 800 хил. хектолитра бира, което є отрежда четвърто място в страната. За 10 г. след приватизацията на пивоварната от “Мел инвест” в бирената фабрика са вложени над 30 млн. евро.
1,5 млн. евро ще вложи “ЦБА Асет Мениджмънт” в нов супермаркет на площ от 2536 кв. м. Той се намира в “Търговски парк Велико Търново”, непосредствено до “Практикер”. Магазинът ще отвори в началото на 2008 г. и ще осигури над 80 работни места.
Пред завършване е най-големия бизнес център във В. Търново. Инвеститор е “Капитал Инвестмънт” АД. До този момент в “Скай център” са инвестирани над 1 млн. евро. Комплексът е с РЗП от 10 хил. кв. м. Ще отвори врати през лятото.
МЕТРО се строи върху собствен терен от 53 дка. Инвестицията е 30 млн. лв. Ще бъдат разкрити 200 работни места. Магазинът ще отвори напролет.
“Дървообработване ВТ” и шведската търговска верига “Икеа” започнаха производство на столове и кресла. Съвместната инвестиция в новия завод е 2,5 млн. евро.
Започва строителството на “Пътен възел Качица”. МРРБ отпусна 1,6 млн. лв. За останалите 11 млн. лв. Общината кандидатства пред ОП “Регионално развитие” на ЕС. С 290 хил. евро по програма ФАР беше направена подпорна стена на Янтра с габиони. Следващата седмица с 1,2 млн. евро започва строителството на канализацията на Арбанаси. Пред одобрение от ЕС са 11 проекта на Община В. Търново на обща стойност 17,4 млн. лв.


Озеленяването става задължително условие за строително разрешение

Община Велико Търново издава строителни книжа за изграждането на нови сгради, единствено ако към тях е предвидено озеленяване, информираха от кметството. До кабинета на главния архитект Елена Абаджиева вече е окачено специално указание за инвеститорите. В него се казва, че преди започването на строежа и при неговото предаване местната администрация задължително изисква становище от озеленители. Специалистите ще констатират дали по време на работата по сградата не са били унищожени дървета и храсти и дали при създаването й са поставени допълнителни растения. Община В. Търново мотивира решението си с няколко текста в Закона за устройството на територията, които задължават предприемачите да предвиждат в блокове и комплекси адекватно озеленяване.

Велико Търново ще се побратимява с Баня Лука, административния център на Босна и Херцеговина, стана ясно вчера след официалната визита на Н.Пр. Хамдия Яхич, посланик на балканската страна у нас, и консула Божо Драгичевич при кмета на Велико Търново д-р Румен Рашев. Преди няколко месеца за сродяването на двата града посредничи кметът на германския Кайзер Слаутерн.
Негово Превъзходителство поздрави кмета за третия му мандат и заяви, че знае колко е тежко да си кмет, защото той самият е бил един мандат градоначалник на родния си Мостър. Босненци много добре познават българската лютеница и цветята ви, заяви Хамдия Яхич.
Посланикът очаква развитие на двустранното икономическо сътрудничество в резултат на отличните политически отношения. Предстои подписването на споразумение за сътрудничество в областта на образованието, науката и спорта.
Според посланик Яхич българският опит в процеса на присъединяването към ЕС лесно може да се пренесе в Босна и Херцеговина, която е в процес на преговори за еврочленство.
България и моята страна имат конструктивна роля при решаването на проблема с независимостта на Косово, каза вчера Н.Пр. Хамдия Яхич. Въпросът трябва да бъде решен по мирен начин, за да се запази стабилността на региона, но края на преговорите зависи от международната общност, заяви босненският посланик.
Н.Пр. Хамдия Яхич получи от кмета д-р Румен Рашев грамота за посещението си в старата българска столица, акварел от Велико Търново и сувенири.
Посланикът върна жеста с подарък на английско издание на книгата за местата и хората в Босна и Херцеговина и сувенири.

Монтират ледената пързалка

Днес започва монтажът на ледената пързалка във В. Търново. Мобилното съоръжение ще се намира на игрище “Юнак” в старото военно училище и ще заработи дни преди Коледа. Съоръжението е с площ от 400 кв. м и може да работи до температура плюс 12 градуса. След демонтажа може да се използва като комплекс за скейтборд. Мобилните ледени пързалки в България са австрийски и струват около 200 хил. лв.
Старата ледена пързалка във В. Търново бе направена в края на 70-те години и работи до 1999 г. С решение на ОбС от м.г. пистата на пързалката бе отредена за тренировъчно игрище. С конкурс ще се търси инвеститор, който да го направи и предаде на Общината, а под него ще има подземен паркинг.

Only Gabrovo and maybe Pazardjik are of the size of VT. Haskovo , Shumen. Sliven , Dobrich are bigger...

As beinsa pointed out the situation of the city equaly between Sofia & Varna and on the road from Russe to Stara Zagora and Svilengrad is one of the factors.

But there are some others not listed by importance.

1. The VT University. Maybe only Varna could compete with VT in terms of traditions, interest and numebr of students in North Bulgaria. With the students there come fresh money, letting and real estate interest etc. etc.

2. Don't forget that actualy VT is 7 km. away from Gorna Oriahovitsa(36 000 town) and just 8 km. away from Lyaskovets(10 000 town) , so the people that actualy live in that 3 towns conglomerate is above 120 000.

3. VT somehow stayed aside from the mutra phenomenon from the 90-ies in Bulgaria, so we don't have our own Златистия, Очите etc. etc. ... Well there are some local businesmen with not so clear reputation but we didn't had that typical rude representatives of our recent history.

4. Tourism. VT is maybe on the leading places of number of tourists per capita in Bulgaria. Many new hotels and guest houses were built in the last years(new jobs opened) and still the demand is bigger than they can supply.

5. A lot of people are interested in having a holiday property or are just investing their money in VT - Foreigners and bulgarians from other towns. So this explains the real estate boom.

6. British colonists. They are about 2000 permanently living in the city or in the surroundings and constantly rising. This summer i was kinda surprised doing some tasks for the day. I went in teh morning to a local company's office to talk about making a gas instalation in my new apartment. There was an english family before me so i had to wait a little. Then i went to the local "Praktiker" to buy some raw materials for some building work in my family's village house and surprise when i went to the cashier there were some scandinavians with full cart waiting before me. After that i went to have lunch in one local restaurant , and more than half of the folks in the restaurant were actually brits or other foreigners. Later in the night i went to one of my favourite pubs and surprise again. The clientela of the pub was about 70% of brits or other foreigners while last summer it was less than 50%.

7. A lot of Sofia companies saw that they can make profit from real estate or office space in VT and started to invest money. I am not quite happy about this though ... as many of them make absolute craps.

8. The mayor is doing some good job. I don't think he's perfect but generaly is better than many other mayors across the country , better than BB too ;)

9. Overall VT is attractive for people from many other towns in Bulgaria. They prefer to come and live in VT than staying in their home places. Despite the emigration from VT towards Sofia or abroad, the population is steady and growing in the last years.

Well that's it :) I can't think of something else right now.

Вече стана ясен съперникът на Веселин Топалов в полуфинала за световната титла по шахмат. Това е американецът от руски произход Гата Камски, който спечели Световната купа в Ханти-Мансийск. На финала Камски победи Алексей Широв (Испания), като спечели 120 000 долара и правото да играе с нашия гросмайстор.
Както “Янтра ДНЕС” първи съобщи още преди половин година, Велико Търново е основен кандидат за домакинство на тази престижна проява. Идеята бе лансирана от председателя на ДАМС Весела Лечева, която заяви, че на старопрестолния град приляга да приема такова събитие.
Кметът на В. Търново д-р Румен Рашев също подкрепи идеята преди около месец. “Не просто подкрепям тази идея, а ще направя всичко възможно тя да се реализира. Ще бъде прекрасно пътят за връщането на шахматната корона на Веселин Топалов да започне от старата столица. Сигурен съм, че Велико Търново ще донесе късмет на Топалов, както и че ще продължим да работим добре с председателя на ДАМС Весела Лечева”, сподели д-р Рашев в навечерието на местните избори.
“Янтра ДНЕС” научи, че още през януари мениджърът на бившия световен шампион Силвио Данаилов пристига в старата столица, за да оглежда залата и подходящи хотели. Решението официално трябва да вземе българската федерация, като великотърновските шахматни деятели вече изразиха готовност да сътрудничат.
Очаква се мачът да е през септември, но точната дата ще се уточнява допълнително. Тя ще зависи от другия полуфинал за титлата между номер 1 в света в момента Вишванатан Ананд (Индия) и Владимир Крамник (Русия).

Гата Камски е един от най-забележителните шахматисти в днешно време. Роден на 2 юни 1974 г., още като дете дава големи надежди и мнозина го смятат за достоен наследник на Карпов и Каспаров. Животът му е пълен с промени. През 1989 г. емигрира заедно с баща си в САЩ. През периода 1990*1996 играе успешно и по двете съществуващи тогава версии за световно първенство * Класическа и на ФИДЕ. През 1994 г. побеждава Крамник в мач в Ню Йорк с 4:1. След това достига и до мачове за титлите срещу тогавашните световни шампиони Ананд (по Версия ПША) и Карпов (по Версия ФИДЕ), но ги губи. Напуска шахмата през 1996 г., за да следва медицина (но завършва право) и се завръща през 1999 г. в Лас Вегас, където бива елиминиран в първия кръг от бъдещия победител Александър Халифман. От този момент до юни 2004 г. (Ню Йорк Мастърс) Гата играе само в интернет, където достига впечатляващото ЕЛО 3600. В последните 2 години се завръща към големия шах. С ЕЛО 2705. В момента Камски е 17-и в ранглистата на ФИДЕ, която взима резултатите до октомври 2007 г.

^^ Old Town is great. thank you. The commie block neighbourhoods are no different than teh same all over teh country , built in the days of komunism. They were looking even durtier in the previous years but lately slowly but surely they start to look better. There is really a problem with some of the new residentials - some developers really make some kitchy projects :ohno:

^^ Well the old town is a monument of culture. There is ban to built there a sctructures over 2-3 floors and not in tхе perticular old style of architecture, so don't worry - Old town will be preserved.

In the early 50`s the communist had a plan to form a big administrative center of Northern Bulgaria consisted of Veliko, Turnovo, Gorna Orjahovica and Ljaskovec.It was projected the 3 towns to create a new big city with the name "Turgoljas".What is now Tsarevsts(the medieval fortress) and the surrounding hills with remains from the Second BulgarianTsardom were intended to become neighbourhoods:bash:
The idea failed only due to the relief of the region which isn`t appropriate for building such a big city.But in the 60`s one communist retard from the local chamber of the building engineers proposed the church on the hill to be destroyed and on it`s place to be built monument of the communist party.According to him the complex was renovated during the faschist regime in Bulgaria and that`s why it was center of "conspirative ideas".Fortunately, the idea failed again.I know these things from my grandfather who was a young engineer then and remebers everything very clearly.

^^ Да това за Търголяс е голям смях :lol: Знаеш ли и за един друг техен проект, който между другото никак не е бил лош. започнали са да копат на мястото на свлачището тунел от паметника на обесените , покрай Халите та до Самоводската Чаршия, там където е сега паметника на Стамболов. И така почти били направили изкопа, но наближил 1-ви Май и всяка година манифестацията(и аз като дете съм участвал в тея мероприятия) започвала от там където е бюста на Димитър Благоев. И тъй набързо решили , че манифестацията е по важна от този проект и за няколко денонощия засипали изкопа , сложили асфалт и провели манифестацията както си му е реда .... :lol:

Сега има проект там отново да се копа и да се нарправи подземен паркинг. Никак не е лошо като идея. Дано да стане.

Със светлинно шоу и програма тази вечер откриват ледената пързалка във Велико Търново

Съоръжението е разположено на площ от 400 кв. м в центъра на града

С ПИЩНО СВЕТЛИННО ШОУ И ОЩЕ КУП ИЗНЕНАДИ ТАЗИ ВЕЧЕР ОТ 18.30 ч. ще бъде открита новата ледена пързалка във Велико Търново, съобщи нейният управител Борил Златанов. Тя е разположена на 400 кв. м площ в непосредствена близост до тенискорта на игрище „Юнак”, в самия център на болярския град. Съоръжението е произведено от австрийската фирма „АСС” и струва 200 000 евро. В България има 11 подобни ледени пързалки, но само три са на „АСС”. Най-важната му част е генераторът, който захранва маркучи с глюкол, а той поддържа леда да не се изпарява. Генераторът е с дистанционно управление. Разглобяемата пързалка ще бъде експлоатирана за трета поредна година у нас, обясни Борил Златанов, който освен негов управител е и представител на фирма „Веселие”. Преди две години ледената пързалка е била в Банско, а миналата зима - в столичното езеро „Ариана”. Във Велико Търново уникалното съоръжение ще бъде действащо до края на март, стига сезонът да го позволи. Дори и при температура от около 6-7 градуса през деня ще е възможно да се пързаляме на твърд лед, а не на киша.
От фирмата „Веселие” ще развият и мощна благотворителна дейност. В момента дружеството води разговори с детските домове във Велико Търново и региона, за уточни кой час ще е най-удобен за безплатно посещение на питомците на социалните заведения. Освен това цената на билетчето за деца и студенти за един час пързаляне ще е двойно по-ниска от тази за по-възрастните посетители. Тийнейджърите ще плащат по 3 лв., а по-големите – по 6 лв. Ако обаче посетителите разполагат със собствени кънки, те ще могат да прекарат един час на пързалката също за 3 лв. Около пързалката ще бъдат монтирани и три къщички за удобство на посетителите. Освен това ще има павилион за топли напитки и сандвичи, както и малка шатра с пейки за преобуване. За начинаещите кънкьори пък ще има и двама учители. Пързалката ще бъде отворена всеки ден от 9.00 до 22.00 ч., а в почивните дни – от 9.00 до 23.30 ч. На нея едновременно ще могат спокойно да се пързалят 50 души, но за всеки случай ще има човек, който да ограничава достъпа.
За услугата, която ще радва хиляди великотърновци, общината ще бъде рекламирана от фирма „Веселие”.

ВТОРИЯ СИ ЗАВОД ВЪВ ВЕЛИКО ТЪРНОВО ИЗГРАДИ МЕСТНАТА КОМПАНИЯ ЗА ГЪВКАВИ ПОЛИМЕРНИ ОПАКОВКИ „МЕГАПОРТ”. Официално той ще заработи в промеждутъка между Коледа и Нова година, когато е предвидено и официалното откриване.
В производствената база, която е разположена в Западна промишлена зона, точно срещу първото предприятие на „Мегапорт”, са инвестирани над 8 млн. лв., каза собственикът Мирослав Ангелов. С нея капацитетът на дружеството ще се удвои и ще се отворят поне 30 нови работни места. Тук се намира и най-голямата у нас линия за рециклиране на отпадъци от полиетиленови опаковки. В момента двама италиански специалисти донастройват новото оборудване, специално закупено за новия завод. Любопитна подробност е, че едната от инсталациите, която е висока над 14 метра, е пристигнала натоварена на 6 тира. „Тази машина смени малко по-старо оборудване и консумира същото количество енергия, а производителността й е два пъти по-голяма”, поясни Ангелов.
Двата завода оформят общата производствена база на „Мегапорт”. Компанията е един от най-големите местни работодатели, тъй като в нея са заети повече от 350 служители. За тях са осигурени много добри условия на труд. Всеки ден собствениците осигуряват безплатен транспорт, а до броени дни ще пуснат и ресторантче, в което ще се хранят в новия завод. С внедряването на оборудването от последно поколение и увеличаване на капацитета ще бъдат индексирани и заплатите, казаха още от ръководството.
„Мегапорт“ ООД чества своята 15-годишнина и се утвърди като водещ производител на българския пазар за гъвкави полимерни опаковки. Около 75% от продукцията е предназначена за вътрешния пазар, а чуждестранните клиенти са от Гърция, Румъния, Германия, Австрия, Македония и други. Сред контрагентите на предприятията са всички мобилни оператори, търговските вериги „Кауфланд”, „Пикадили”, СВА, „Германос” – Румъния, румънската петролна верига „Петром” и т.н.
ВТОРИЯТ ЗАВОД НА „МЕГАПОРТ” Е С 6000 КВ. МЕТРА РАЗГЪНАТА ПЛОЩ. МОДЕРНАТА СГРАДА Е ПРОЕКТИРАНА ОТ АРХ. ПЛАМЕН ИВАНОВ. Обектът е изцяло върху терени, закупени от частни лица в оформящата се промишлена зона на старата столица. Дружеството внедрява нова линия за трислойно екструдиране на иновативни полимерни фолиа. Собственост на великотърновската компания за опаковки е и заводът “Феникс Пластик” в Търговище. Тук също се рециклират отпадъци от полимерни опаковки и се произвежда висококачествен регранулат от полиетилен и полипропилен, вторично фолио, както и чували за смет. Създадена е и система от пунктове за събиране, сортиране, транспортиране и оползотворяване на отпадъците от опаковки, което допринася за опазване на околната среда.
Преди две години „Мегапорт” се сертифицира по стандарта ISO 9001:2000 от UNITED Registrar of Systems Ltd.

Hi ^_^

Last summer I did a student exchange in Sofia for 1 month but I had the opportunity to visit other places like Veliko Turnovo, Vitosha Mountains, Primorsko, Plovdiv, Rila Monastery and Melnik.
But the place I enjoyed more was Veliko Turnovo. I love this city, the Tsaverets fortress, the amazing churches, the rivers, the houses, the people, the calm, everything is perfect in that town. If I really had money I will buy a house there XD

I will search some photos of VT and I will show you! ^__^

Right now the snow cover in VT is about 50 cm. This season has its own charm too despite the cold :) Post more photos , and consider that next time you come to VT the meals in "Shtastlivetsa" restaurant or the drinks (Boliarka:) ) in "Pepi's Bar" are on me ;) I bet you have visited those places during your visit. :cheers:

A Couple of new projects in VT

Thе first one is a project for a Middle ages Ethnographic and Crafts Open Air museum in Veliko Tarnovo. Sometning like Etara (http://www.etar.org/) - the plot is by the river bank below Tsarevets in Arbanasi direction.

НИПК прие проекта за маршрута Трапезица - ул. „Н. Пиколо”, но пак не съгласува Царевец - Арбанаси

ПЪРВИЯТ ОТ ДВАТА ЛИФТА, КОИТО ВЪЗНАМЕРЯВА ДА ПРАВИ КМЕТЪТ НА ВЕЛИКО ТЪРНОВО, Е ПОЛУЧИЛ ОДОБРЕНИЕ ОТ НАЦИОНАЛНИЯ ИНСТИТУТ ЗА ПАМЕТНИЦИТЕ НА КУЛТУРАТА.
На едно от последните си заседания комисия на НИПК начело с шефа на институцията арх. Георги Угринов прие подробния устройствен план за пътническо подемно транспортно съоръжение по дестинацията Трапезица – паркинг - ул. „Н. Пиколо”. Миналата година експертната група отхвърли плана, но при преразглеждането го утвърди.
Тя обаче за втори път отказа да съгласува по-големия от двата лифта, който е планирано да отвежда от подножието на Балдуиновата кула до Арбанаси. Като основен мотив от НИПК посочват, че това нарушава културния пейзаж на исторически селища Велико Търново и Арбанаси, както и резерватните зони на „Момина крепост” и дендрариума.
„Ще се опитаме да убедим Националния институт за паметниците на културата и пак ще внесем плана за разглеждане. Имахме успех с първия лифт. Ще ги поканим да дойдат и сами да се убедят. Градът има нужда от нови атракции и ще направим всичко необходимо да ги създадем”, коментира кметът д-р Румен Рашев.
Той припомни, че в почти цяла Европа до архитектурни паметници със световно значение има подобни лифтове, и затова не вижда пречка подобно съоръжение да има и при нас.
„ТЕПЪРВА ЩЕ РЕШАВАМЕ КАК ЩЕ БЪДЕ ОПРЕДЕЛЕН ИЗПЪЛНИТЕЛЯТ НА ОДОБРЕНИЯ ЛИФТ”, уточни още кметът. Според него два възможни варианта за изграждане на подемното съоръжение са конкурс или концесия.
Според концепцията за получилия одобрение лифт туристи ще спират в подножието на хълма Трапезица до тунела, където ще бъде обособен паркинг. От там те ще се качват на подемното съоръжение, което ще ги отвежда до старата част в района на паметника на Никола Пиколо. Така освен панорамна разходка ще се облекчи и трафикът в стария град и ще се предотвратят задръстванията.
Още на следващите сесии на местния парламент трябва да бъде определена формата, по която ще се изгради първият от двата лифта на Велико Търново, за който се говори от две години насам, но досега нямаше одобрение от страна на Националния институт за паметниците на културата.

Now if someone is interested i would like to tell more about the Assens dinasty Monument.

Assens are 3 brothers and 1 of their inheritants, who ruled Bulgaria from 1185 to 1241. The first two - Assen I And Petar IV are the boyars who made it possible Bulgaria to became an indipendent state again after it had fallen under Byzantine dominance in 1018. Their smaller brother Kaloyan I is the one who made the state one of the major forces in East Europe, and we bulgarians often like to brag with his millitary succes over the Crusaders under Baldwin I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Adrianople_(1205)). Ivan Asen II is a son of Asen I and was an extraordinary diplomat who made Bulgaria larger as the whole Balkan Pennisula by making a series of royal marriages and fighting only one single battle.

Assens Monument was built in 1985 in honor of the 800th anniversary from the proclamation of Tarnovo as the capital of Bulgaria. It is the most prominent monument in the city, and near it the Stambolov Bridge and State Art Gallery are located.

His original name was Ioannitsa, variously rendered Ioannitza, Ivanitsa, a diminutive form of Ivan or Ioan. The name Kaloyan (in Latin Caloiohannes), signifies the "Good John" or the "Handsome John", and is derived from Greek Kaloiōannēs, a standard augmentation of the names of Byzantine emperors named "John" (Iōannēs) in the Komnenian and later periods. (Byzantine opponents to Kaloyan dubbed him Skyloïōannēs, or the "Dog Ioan".)

On the spear that he holds in his hand is stuck the peace treaty signed with Byzantine Greek despot Theodore Komnin. According to the legend when Theodore Komnin entered bulgarian lands and broke the peace treaty, Ivan Asen ordered his army to use that spear as a war flag when they went in to the Klokotniza Battle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Klokotnitsa). After the battle, Bulgaria became the biggest medieval country on the Balkan peninsula, stretching between the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Adriatic Sea.

The buildings in the old town are from 19th century, but there are some older , some are restored, some aren't in that good shape :) There are some brand new ones but there is a law that resricts the builders to follow the specific architectural style and exact height of the buildings.

This is the architect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolyu_Ficheto) responsible for most of the houses, churches and social buildings in the Old Town. :)

btw, since we entered in EU , a lot of romanian tourists visit the city and from what i have read or seen both the tourists and the owners of hotels and restaurants in the town are happy. We are just 160 km. away from Bucurest after all. :cheers:

Арх. Матей Савов извади разработката си пред „Борба”, готов да я предостави на кметството

Разработка на шефа на регионалната структура на Камарата на архитектите арх. Матей Савов, смятана досега за загубена, отново се появи на бял свят. Тя може да сбъдне мечтите на две поколения великотърновци, които очакват изграждането на улица „Крайбрежна”. Доайенът на местната архитектурна гилдия открил чертежите, правени преди повече от 25 години, в мазето си. Кметът на община В. Търново д-р Румен Рашев заяви преди няколко месеца, че изграждането на отсечката ще е един от големите му проекти през този мандат. Той е бил запознат, че такава разработка е била правена, но я смятал за изгубена. С появата на чертежите проектът, за който говорим още от началото на 70-те години, може да се ускори. Арх. Матей Савов е готов да го предостави на кметството, за да бъде реализиран, заяви за „Борба” самият той. „През двата си досегашни мандата усилено търсих информация по темата. Направени са и много предварителни проучвания. Не крия, че на този проект залагам много. Той е необходим и за създаването на нов туристически продукт”, каза пък неотдавна пред най-големия областен всекидневник д-р Румен Рашев.

КРАЙБРЕЖНА УЛИЦА ПО ПОРЕЧИЕТО НА ЯНТРА, С ПАНОРАМНИ ПЛОЩАДКИ И ЗАВЕДЕНИЯ И ПЕШЕХОДНИ АЛЕИ предвижда проектът на арх. Матей Савов. Той го прави като млад архитект преди 25 години по заръка на Окръжния комитет на БКП. Тогава той работи паралелно с инженерен екип начело с известния специалист инж. Проданов. „Тогава партията отчиташе, че хората трябва да имат повече краткосрочни контакти с природата в рамките на градовете. Не да отидат за седмица-две на планина, а да имат възможност, като излязат в населеното място, да контактуват с природата като вид релаксация. Това ни накара да започнем проекта за улица „Крайбрежна”, спомня си арх. Савов. Според проекта му крайбрежната улица започва от главния път Русе – Стара Загора след пътния възел и завършва до моста в кв. Света гора. Както самият д-р Румен Рашев обясни, тя е планирана непосредствено по протежението на трасето на главния колектор на града. Един от най-трудните участъци на бъдещата улица е този под двата моста - на главния път и на жп линията - над Янтра.
Крайбрежната улица е предвидена с два основни елемента - същинското трасе, по което могат да се движат автомобили, и алеи за пешеходци.
Според разработката на арх. Матей Савов край самата река трябва да се оформят кътове за почивка с пейки, детски съоръжения за игра и даже заведения. Проектът му е бил под личното наблюдение на тогавашния Първи секретар на Окръжния комитет на БКП Николай Цонев.

ЗА КРАЙБРЕЖНАТА УЛИЦА ИЗМИСЛЯТ СПЕЦИАЛНИ МАТЕРИАЛИ

„Запазването на автентичния вид на старо Търново и вплитането на улицата в характерния ландшафт бяха най-важното нещо”, твърди арх. Матей Савов. За да се осъществи това, в домостроителния комбинат разработват специален вид материал. Измислят бетонови елементи във формата на скали. Те е трябвало да се подредят на принципа на играта „Лего”, за да имитират скалите над реката. По тях е трябвало да се засадят растения.
Архитектът смята, че от тогава до сега науката е напреднала и са измислени много по-съвременни материали за укрепване на бреговете на Янтра. Такъв е подходът с направата на габиони, които представляват телени кошове с правоъгълна форма, пълни с камъни, които се взимат от речното корито. Те също се подреждат със залягане един върху друг и се вдига своеобразна стена, за да се укрепят бреговете. По този начин в момента е решено заздравяването в района на църквата „Св. 40 мъченици”.
ОБЩИНА ВЕЛИКО ТЪРНОВО ВЕЧЕ Е КАНДИДАТСТВАЛА С ПРОЕКТ ПРЕД ПРЕДПРИЯТИЕТО ЗА УПРАВЛЕНИЕ НА ДЕЙНОСТИТЕ ПО ОПАЗВАНЕ НА ОКОЛНАТА СРЕДА /ПУДООС/ към МОСВ. Кандидатствано е в средата на миналата година. Необходимо е финансиране от около 300 хил. лв. за изготвянето на цялостен работен проект. Само чрез него може да се намерят средства за крайбрежната улица по оперативна програма „Околна среда”, обяснява кметът д-р Румен Рашев.
Според него бъдещата улица „Крайбрежна” ще е една от най-големите местни атракции. По нея може да се движи даже теснолинейка. Туристите могат да спират в района на пътния възел, без да се налага да влизат с автобусите в града и да затрудняват движението. От тук ще се разхождат по поречието на Янтра и ще стигат до Царевец.
Стигайки до Балдуиновата кула, пък те могат да влизат и през южната порта на Царевец, която ще се отвори за целта. По този начин в крепостта ще може да се влиза и откъм Френхисар, така, както е било някога. Точно там трябва да започва и лифтът към Арбанаси, за който вече има готов проект и кандидати да го финансират. За втори път той ще бъде вкаран за одобрение в Националния институт за паметниците на културата след доработка. От там наскоро разрешиха изграждането на втория - по-малък лифт, който планираме да правим.
Според предварителните изследвания на община В. Търново Янтра се простира през града на дължина от 13 километра от Чолаковци до „Родопа”. Разликата в нивата й е около 50 метра. Самата крайбрежна улица обаче ще бъде доста по-къса – около 2-3 километра.
Арх. Матей Савов разкри още, че от проекта му преди няколко години са се интересували от проект „Красива България”, но са преценили, че няма да могат да осигурят необходимото финансиране.

Something interesting about the Lift from E85 to Nicola Picolo's monument :

Пускат лифт за 1 млн. лева във В. Търново

Пътническо въжено транспортно съоръжение ще извозва туристите от паркинг в подножието на хълма Трапезица до паметника на Никола Пиколо във В. Търново. Лифтът, който на професионален език се нарича фуникулер, е тип наклонен асансьор. Кабинките са с вместимост от 16 души за седящи и правостоящи, а общата дължина на въженото съоръжение е 400 метра. Разстоянието между двете крайни точки ще се изминава за 10 минути.
Изграждането на лифта ще струва около 1 млн. евро. Подробният устройствен план на съоръжението е одобрен от Националния институт за паметниците на културата (НИПК) на заседание в края на миналата година. Проектът ще кандидатства за финансиране по оперативна програма “Регионално развитие”, приоритет 3, която се отваря в края на февруари. Намерението е асансьор да заработи до началото на 2009 г.
Проектът е разработен след двугодишни проучвания, включително и геоложки. С неговото разработване се заела фирма “Тобо” ООД, която е официален представител за България на немската фирма “Допелмайер”. Долната станция на лифта ще е в района на северния бряг на р. Янтра на около 85 м от жп моста в посока ул. “Цар Иван Асен” и на 1 до 40 м от пътя В. Търново * Русе. Там на площ от 7200 кв м ще бъде изграден паркинг със 150 места за леки автомобили и 8 паркоместа за автобуси. Идеята е автомобилите и автобусите на гостите на града да остават на паркинга. Горната станция ще е разположена непосредствено до паметника на Никола Пиколо.
Феникулерът ще се движи целогодишно, дори и при отрицателни температури. Най-високата точка на преминаване на кабинките ще бъде 65 метра. По този начин Търново ще предложи още една вълнуваща атракция на туристите, която може да се използва както като транспортно средство, така и за аерофотография.
Идеята за изграждането на съоръжението е на общинската агенция по туризъм “Царевград Търнов”. Нейният управител Даниел Панов обясни, че подобни лифтове се използват на много места в Европа. В Барселона, Франкфурт, Будапеща, Прага и други съоръжението свързва старата и новата част на града.
Във Велико Търново проектът решава и проблема с натоварения автомобилен трафик, сподели шефът на “Царевград Търнов”. Сега историческите забележителности в старата част на града са блокирани от много коли. Намерението ни е в бъдеще в старо Търново да се обособи пешеходна зона, като поне през лятото туристите да бъдат развеждани из обектите пеша. Автобус с 40 пътници може да бъде докаран до центъра на старопрестолния град за общо 15 мин. В същото време собствениците на малки семейни хотелчета ще бъдат поощрени вместо да търсят начини за отделяне на няколко паркоместа, да поддържат собствен транспорт и сами да превозват туристите и багажа им от центъра до техните бази. Дългосрочната цел на проекта е освобождаването на тежкия трафик в града.
Проектът е бил представен и дискутиран на ежегодния конгрес на тема градско развитие на Асоциацията за жилищно строителство и планиране (AFHP), който се е провел в шведския град Гьотеборг през 2006 г. В международната организация за обмяна на опит членуват представители на 60 страни, като главният архитект на Общината Елена Абаджиева и Даниел Панов са единствените представители на България. През октомври 2008 г. Велико Търново ще бъде домакин на втората работна среща по темата за туризъм и градско развитие на AFHP.
Великотърновският проект е бил разглеждан като предложение за атрактивен туризъм и облекчаване на трафика в град с културно-историческо наследство, в който няма обособени зони за паркиране. Туризмът освен че е доход бизнес, може да се превърне в убиец на региона, споделя Даниел Панов. Затова не трябва да се гледа на туризма единствено като възможност за печелене на пари чрез продажба на дребни сувенири и картички, както и от вход за музейните обекти. Необходимо е изготвянето на стратегия за градско и регионално развитие, която да е съчетана с ефектна туристическа стратегия. Не трябва да се мисли само за удобството на туристите, но и за атрактивното представяне на града. Категорично не можем да кажем, че паркингът в района на Хуманитарна гимназия, където масово спират автобусите, возещи туристи за Царевец, не представя града в най-добра светлина. С реализирането на лифта туристите няма да гледат старите олющени фасади на сградите, а ще се наслаждават на природните и архитектурни красоти на старо Търново.
Разработката за въженото транспортно съоръжение от паркинга до паметника на Пиколо Общината е представила в НИПК, заедно с проекта за лифтов транспорт до Арбанаси. От института обаче отхвърлили второто предложение, който предвижда другата въжена линия да тръгва от подножието на Балдуиновата кула на крепостта “Царевец” и да стига до началото на Арбанаси. Според експертите на НИПК трасето на лифта ще наруши културния пейзаж на старата столица. Даниел Панов обаче контрира, че трасето, което по права линия ще бъде километър и половина, е не само най-екологичният превоз до Арбанаси, но също така атрактивен за туристите и в никакъв случай не нарушава общата визия на региона. Панов подчерта, че ако от института по паметниците са толкова загрижени за визията на Арбанаси, като начало би трябвало да преустановят високото строителство в архитектурния резерват. Разстоянието между Търново и Арбанаси може да бъде изминавано по въздуха за 12 минути.

Търновци вложили 112 млн. лв. в апартаменти, магазини и коли

Заради бума на строителството се събират с 20% повече данъци

ИМОТИ НА ОБЩА СТОЙНОСТ, НАДХВЪРЛЯЩА 112 МЛН. ЛВ., СА КУПЕНИ ПРЕЗ ЦЯЛАТА МИНАЛА ГОДИНА ВЪВ ВЕЛИКО ТЪРНОВО. Общинските данъчни са събрали над 2,2 млн. лв. местен данък, с който се облагат всички сделки за недвижима собственост и автомобили, каза шефът им Цветомир Енев. 2% върху стойността на сделката прибира местният бюджет. На тази база изчисленията показват, че за апартаменти, магазини и коли в старата столица са вложени малко над 112 млн. Цифрите стават още по-внушителни, като се има предвид и фактът, че не всички сделки се изповядват на реална продажна цена, а именно заради местния данък в актовете за собственост се споменава данъчната оценка. Тя е своеобразен праг за сделката, припомнят финансисти. Реалната стойност на недвижимостите се споменават задължително само при покупка с ипотечен кредит, но дори и при тези обстоятелства постъпленията изглеждат внушително, коментира самият Енев.
Очакванията за 2008 година са още по-големи, тъй като пазарът на имоти бележи още по-голям ръст, а данъчните оценки са скочили. През последната година инвестициите на българина са насочени предимно към недвижима собственост. Заради това апартаменти се купуват на поразия. Правят го предимно работещите в чужбина, които изкарват добре навън и влагат спечеленото в родния си град.

ЗАРАДИ СТРОИТЕЛНИЯ БУМ ПРИХОДИТЕ ОТ РАЗЛИЧНИТЕ НАЛОЗИ СА СЕ УВЕЛИЧИЛИ МЕЖДУ 11 И 25 НА СТО.

Оказва се, че шумно критикуваното строителство е добър приходоизточник за местната хазна, която се пълни основно от данък сгради и такса смет.
Общинските данъчни са събрали повече от 1,187 млн. лв. от налог върху недвижимите имоти за миналата 2007 г., сочи официалната статистика. Преизпълнението от първоначално плануваното е със 111%. Още по-големи са постъпленията от такса смет. От нея в бюджета са постъпили 5,213 млн. лв., което е цели 125% от първоначално предвиденото.
Кметът д-р Румен Рашев обяви за пръв път пред „Борба”, че тази година данък сгради и такса смет няма да се пипат.
Заради нарасналите драстично приходи общината ще отбележи бюджетен рекорд с Бюджет 2008, който се очаква да доближи 50 млн. лв.
