To me, Taipei is just as good as Singapore, HK and Shanghai in many senses(maybe not skyline). But I haven't seen many people mention it in SSC? Please share your opinion :)

many Japanese cities (except Tokyo) are more underrated IMHO..Asian cities are generally underrated in SSC.

I think Taipei is OVERRATED

Really? Cuz compared to other Asian bigger cities, Taipei and Seoul are pretty underrated IMO...

Looks mesmerizing but not very diverse. That is my only problem with Asian cities. Way too homogenized for my likings. I like to see a smorgasboard of color and costume in metropoli. Are there a lot of mixed race couples in Taiwan? Where do the Germans and Mexicans live in Taipei?

Anyone avoids rating Taipei, I think. Because the Chinese people in PRC say "It's our city", right?

After looking at those pics I felt few women in Taipei dye their hair in contrast to Japanese women. Their hair looks beautiful. Black hair is suitable for Asians.

Agreed, Jam. I was able to fuck several Mongoloid women with black hair, but never fuck blonde Mongoloid women.

Well in skyline, definitely not because the skyline is not that great except there is only Taipei 101 and Shin Kong Life Tower that is really tall.

Well, it's underrated here because of a lack of a good skyline. This is SSC afterall :)

Lots of underrated cities in Asia, Taipei being one of the most. Shanghai, and KL are quite overrated IMO.

:| :stupid:

honey, you won't find germans or mexicans in taipei.... unless they can speak mandarin.

you go to taipei/taiwan to experience chinese culture. not a 'smorgasborg of costumes and color'.

taipei is not part of the 'new world'. it's modern, but not western. very few parts of asia are. there is no reason why it should have to live up to the diversity standards of north american cities.

back to the issue:

is taipei underrated? fuck yeah.

why? because taiwan is not recognized as an independent nation in the international community. taipei may not have the cachet that hong kong or tokyo has but it is very much one of the most lively and vibrant cities in asia. the best chinese cuisine anywhere in the global chinese diaspora, plus great shopping and some really cool modern architecture.... it's definitely a perfect hybrid - albeit smaller verson - of tokyo and hong kong.

lack of a good skyline?

it has the world's tallest building. not to mention a good number of bldgs >300 ft that put most european cities to shame.

I agree. If Taiwan were officially recognized, it would be more well-known. I've heard it's really vibrant too, didn't know about the cuisine.

Taipei is modern and vibrant, i dont know about you people, but i dont underrate Taipei. But the skyline isnt as good as other cities, even though it has the worlds tallest skyscraper...
