It is with regret that I have to announce the departure of James Stannage from Key 103 with immediate effect.

James' challenging and direct style on the Key 103 late night phone in has entertained people in the North West for almost 10 years and has always courted controversy. However, despite numerous warnings and a history of run ins with the regulators, recent broadcasts have left us with an unfortunate situation where we have had to part Company.

I would like to thank James for his contribution to Key 103 and Magic 1152's success and wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do.

An announcement regarding the future of the late night show on Key 103 will follow shortly.

I'd been listening to him sicne I was a kid and slowly noticed him going from a mild manners, open minded, yet often controversial (yet reasonable) guy to a complete nutter in the last couple of years, about time he left.

I've had more laughs listening to this guy than most so called comedians.

In February I was arsing around Castlefield when Stannage walked past. My mate shouted at him a bit(''OI! Stannage you sad chav!'') and that night someone came on and said a nutter sad down next to her on Market Street and er...pleasured himself 'fully'. Stannage said something like ''Well today I was off the end of Deansgate and I saw these guys and I knew they recognised me and they were shouting things, so I just IGNORED them! That's what you have to do with these people, ignore them!''

I bet that guy called Phil from eccles is gutted. He really had some die hard fans. And i remember him saying he will carry on the radio until the end of his life.

Its just wierd how he can be on for nearly 15 years and then just go off without telling anyone.

If anyone's got today's MEN Lite there's an article where Stannage 'speaks out' about his sacking, pretty m uch accepting he crosssed the line. Apparently it was down to some more comments he made regarding Jewish and Muslim attitudes to circumsicsim (aka penis mutilation!) and hence he's gone, personally I'd a thought it would have been something else, there's a difference between anti-religious views and racist views, on those grounds I'd have to say he didn't deserve the sack.

He was constantly anti-religion though. All the time.

And unecessary circumcision is barbaric, he deserves a medal not a sacking for that!

Tom Binns was absolutely fantastic for the few days that he covered with Sheep, I loved it, the pranks and all that, they should get him in. Shame to lose stannage, I went to one of his listeners parties once, a jukebox fell on my head.

I agree, Tom Binns is great. Ordering Pizza on air, setting alarms off, constantly hitting and annoying Shaun, and despairing when barely anyone was phoning in, and when they did, it was to insult him. Glorious.

James Stannage was fired from key 103 after the comments he made on air landed Emap (key 103s owners) with a HUGE fine. This was the final straw!

also Nicksy is gay , and now dj's in a nightclub in manchester (Essential) and a bar (Queer) , and does cover work on Key. Even though he always called key 103 when he worked for Galaxy!!! :weirdo:

circumsision is performed on members of the royal family, so it's not just Jews and muslims who practice it. It is not barbaric but very clean, it stops build up of bacteria around the foreskin area which means it helps to stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Stannage never said anything insulting to anyone. If people ACTUALLY LISTENED to what he said , rather than being destracted by his tone of voice, then you will realise you wont disagree with him at all weather he went on about the same stuff all the time or not - thats arelevent, he always had a very good point about everything and im sorry to say that in the end everyone ignored him.
