You get the perfect skies and the shiny lights in the same picture.(with the use of simple cameras with no control of shutter speed)

This is multiple exposure, a particular technique that has been around for as long as I can remember. Its a lot easier done on digital than film.

The second and third photos are fabulous Cliff. I think they're better than the final composite image, but I'd use any one of them as a wallpaper if they were larger.

Nice job Cliff! I've got to get PS! I've got a free copy of The Gimp and I'm trying to figure it out by experimenting.

Regarding layering, I think it was done with regular film, where one layer was taken during the day to get the shapes of the buildings and the other layer was just past dawn, which picked up the light coming from the buildings. Either way it's cool stuff!!
