With the acquisition of Mays department stores, I am curious to know if anyone knows if the Belmont Filenes will change names to Macy's or just simply be shut down (hope not). I am not sure if this Filenes is located in this close in upscale suburbs downtown as nostalgia are if really is doing well financially. Since only a few of Boston's suburban downtown have national or regional retailers located in authentic downtown locations, I find the sentimental value of this store important for the entire area. I believe Portsmouth N.H. is the only other suburban downtown to have national/regional retailers located in their beautiful and nostalgic downtown. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The Belmont store is not very well stocked unlike the Burlington Mall location, and does not attract that many customers. Every time I'm in there it seems to be empty. So my bet is that it will be shut down.
