I have completed my first year in Electrical Engineering. But I wanna switch to Mechanical engineering, mechatronics option. How is the scope for it. Is it hot? Is the money good? Is there any scope for further studies after graduation.

Knock knock, no mechatronics engineer here :?.

I'm a first (soon second) year systems engineer, and many mechatronics courses are in systems engineering departments. The thing I'd say is that many engineering jobs in industry like people to have a wide range of skills and knowledge areas. Systems engineering is all about the system behind every engineering problem (chemical, mechanical, electrical...) and therefore deals with alot of interaction between different engineering disciplines. Mechatronics has the same kind of idea in that it's dealing with the interaction between the electrical and mechanical areas. I'd say that is a lot more useful than simply a degree in electronic engineering. Nearly every mechanical system (like an engine) has some kind of electronic control these days and a good mechatronics course will teach you all about that. So my advice - go for it! You'll be doing a much more useful course and employees will prefer it. I guess it also depends on how much you like electronic engineering...
I hope that's of use.
