hasn't the owner or anyone purposed to resume the project? It really looks bad with the cluster of building...it makes KK to be like...unfinished city.. :ohno:
Speed July 4th, 2005, 12:21 PM I remember reading that the current lease for the Suan Lum Night Bazaar will end in March 2006.
Now 7 or 8 business groups (like Infinity's Golden Land, Sansiri, MBK, Central, Athenee's TCC Group, and Siam Center's owner) are making plans to win a new mixed-project (like hotel, shopping, office complex) from the Crown Property Bureau (for 30 yr lease).
I can't wait to see the winning design.....I hope they keep many many trees and plants, and green grass and ponds in the project to make it fit in the green area :) of Lumpini Park/Wireless Road.
I think they are building a new Japanese Embassy too on that plot right?
Chad July 4th, 2005, 12:24 PM Yes Speed, Japanese Embassy is occupying part of that development and I think the final design has been chosen since 30th of June this year.
Just have yet not made any public announcement until the winning plan-company refirm the bits.
Speed July 4th, 2005, 12:33 PM great!! the winning design will come out soon!!
Chad July 4th, 2005, 12:37 PM relatively, I think what will be released soon is just a master plan lah. The Official Revelopment design might comeout later by the developer them selves..:)
Speed July 19th, 2005, 02:10 PM oh so anxious to see what the new Suan Lum Night Bazaar area will look like
atom July 20th, 2005, 11:51 PM It could be one of the mega projects of Bangkok,I can't wait to see.
satit28 July 21st, 2005, 08:51 AM will the existing bazaar have to move???.........
Speed July 26th, 2005, 01:37 PM will the existing bazaar have to move???.........
yes of course it will have to move when the new project starts to build
Speed August 4th, 2005, 09:02 AM have they come out with the new master plan for the Night Bazaar area next to Lumpini park?
I just realized that the new Japanese embassy there will be surrounded by the new development....I wonder if they will mind being surrounded by a shopping/entertainment center?? I noticed that the Japanese embassy in Manila is surrounded by tall condo projects so maybe they wont mind the same situation in Bangkok.... :D
Tornado August 9th, 2005, 09:40 AM Airport my first plce ..
high speed train to Korat for me .. i am from Korat though...
(it is definitely worth investment in this project... :) )
then mass transit system...... also i the same level with highspeed to Korat.
ad I hope the project of tallest tower of BKK a long time ago will be true
( from Samak Sunthornra wate idea( ? ) ) used to read from 2bangkok web..
am I wrong ?
Parkteng August 10th, 2005, 07:06 PM My biggest dream about BKK: to put power lines underground, at least for the major roads. Everything will look nicer without those dangling, tangling messes of ugly electrical web in front of every building, be it the 5-star highrises or shophouses.
Kalix August 10th, 2005, 07:16 PM My biggest dream about BKK: to put power lines underground, at least for the major roads. Everything will look nicer without those dangling, tangling messes of ugly electrical web in front of every building, be it the 5-star highrises or shophouses.
yeah, that's what everyone here want to see. Good thing that this project is already underway. but it will surely take time. :)
Jo August 18th, 2005, 11:32 AM This is a boring answer, but I'd rather see underground wiring, dirty shophouses redeveloped, clean and even pavement, nicer trees alsong roads and sidewalks, old buses replaced with modern ones, citicens that don't throw trash right out of the window etc. than any amount of tall skyscrapers or megaprojects. Because the 'illusion' of a modern metropolis only works in the central areas.
Of course, all these large scale projects might help the rest of the city improve. But I want it all - now! No patience :)
Chad August 18th, 2005, 11:55 AM For me my self, I personally-naturally only interested in new skyscraper and fine architectural developments, but as the time comes...I excited about them all...:D
Kalix August 18th, 2005, 07:07 PM But I want it all - now! No patience :)
ME TOO!!
Jo July 25th, 2006, 07:21 PM Time to ask this again, since a number of those projects have been completed by now :)
So for Bangkok and during this year I look forward to:
1. Suvarnabhumi airport
1.5 Central World - to see it in person and the ongoing construction of Zen and the hotel tower.
3. release of the renderings of Central's 85 storey tower
4. The Met beginning to rise
5. the progress of various museums uc
6. ongoing work on skytrain extension, underground cables, new buses (when was that?), airport rail link etc.
7. Opening of the industrial ringroad megabridge
Okay so I'm not really sure of the order of all these but the new airport and Central World are the most exciting right now
Speed July 26th, 2006, 10:06 AM most excited about the following works in progress :lock: :horse: :lock:
1. Suvarnabhumi airport in eastern suburbs (opens by Christmas??)
2. airport rail link and skytrain/subway extensions
3. Suan Lum Night Bazaar on Wireless (by TCCCL, Central or Sansiri)
4. Central Chidlom embassy project on Ploenchit
5. The Met Tower on Sathorn
6. Empire Place on Sathorn
7. Sathorn Square and Infinity (if Sathorn Square ever starts)
8. Zen World and Central Hotel in Central World Plaza
9. Athenee Residence and Tower
10. Centerpoint Rajadamri and Central Park
11. Sukhothai Residence on Sathorn
12. Royal Rajadamri and RitzCarlton (if it ever wakes up  )
13. The River
14. The Makkasan Complex (if it's super tall :) )
15. the new Museum and Cultural complex across from MBK Center
Mosaic July 26th, 2006, 05:58 PM As for me, the most excited project in Thailand now is Central British Embassy project lah.
Arewethereyet? July 26th, 2006, 08:36 PM Most excited project would be Makkasan Complex,Central Chidlom II,Zen,and Gaysorn expansion.

The high speed train Makkasan-Korat
:)
Wow is the speed train for real? I haven't heard of it!! Is it the one that will link up to Pratunam area? When will it be completed? Who is the contractor? Japanese?
You mean Suan Lum Bazaar is out on tender now? :bleep: but who would want to spend all that $$ only for 30 years?
Anyone knows if the authority is ACTUALLY doing something about the city's underground cable? I think it is a long shot!
cHemon July 27th, 2006, 08:27 AM Hi BabyDoll,
Are you living in Thailand?? :D
The high speed train is just a proposal. And that picture is DD2020's dream.

I agree! Bangkok without wires will look like a whole different city! That's the only thing that needs to be done to make Bangkok look like a well developed city...remove the wires...everything will be much much better...

Yes what a shame.
But let see few years from the situation will change especially in the main street of Bangkok. :)
