View Full Version : A New Dodgers Stadium!!??
redspork02 June 28th, 2005, 01:09 AM I was recently on a thread in The New York City section and i read there going to construct a new yankees stadium. How would Angelenos feel about rebuilding a new stadium for the dodgers???? I mean If they can Bring down the house that Ruth Built, why cant they rebuild dodgers stadium? I mean isnt Dodgers Stadium facing the wrong way anyways??? Dont get Me wrong I Like Dodgers stadium But its not up to date with todays Ballparks!!! :bash:
squeemu June 28th, 2005, 01:46 AM I think Dodgers Stadium should stay where and how it is. The only thing they could do to fix it up more is open up more ticket booths and make it easier to get out of there when the game is over. The traffic seems to be the biggest problem, and the reason people show up during the third inning and leave during the seventh.
Imperfect Ending June 28th, 2005, 10:03 AM I don't think they need to move
djm19 June 28th, 2005, 11:06 AM I think it would be a very unpopular move by the dodgers organization among the fans who already dont like Frank McBroke.
The most they will do in and around the stadium is maybe better transit access to it. Maybe the exterior wall will get a new look. The inside of the stadium recently got new additions and I think it will be pretty much the way it is for a long time. Its not totally out of date. It hat very large capacity and thats all the up-to-dateness a team could ask for.
ProdigalLASon June 28th, 2005, 08:37 PM Are they really destroying Yankees Stadium? I thought they were just building across the street from it and keeping the old one.
squeemu July 1st, 2005, 10:50 PM It's kind of like when they destroyed the Boston Garden. Sure the stadium was out of date, but that's a piece of history they bulldozed!

That's right, the old stadium would serve as a museum with the new stadium being built across.
A new Dodgers stadium would be interesting, but the current one isn't bad at all.

Are you kidding me?
A) You don't have any idea what you are talking about
B) You are too obsessed with skylines
Dodger Stadium won't be torn down for many years (I'm talking like 30 yrs+).
FYI they remodeled it during the off-season last year and it now has a little more modern features such as the video boards on the facade on the 1st and 3rd base lines. It was one of the few stadiums built in the 60's-70's era to not be a "cookie cutter" stadium which were first believed to be great but ended up being worthless and now almost all of them are gone now. Dodger Stadium is beautiful, and is the cleanest stadium in the MLB. Not to mention it is just over 40 years old whereas Yankee Stadium is nearly double that.
Dodger Stadium has the league's best backdrop in my opinion. Why would you want it facing downtown? The mountainous backdrop is so beautiful. It is truely the best ballpark in the Major Leagues if you ask me, and the when the day comes for it to be torn down will be like losing a best friend to me.
VansTripp July 9th, 2005, 09:26 AM We don't need to move this stadium. :(

They wont dont worry... these ppl don't know what they are talking about
edsg25 July 9th, 2005, 01:17 PM I agree that Dodger Stadium is a classic and very well may last for many, many more years.
That said, how do Angelenos (the ones that are Dodger fans) feel about the ballparks of their in-state NL competiton: SBC and Petco?
Do you feel you are missing anything by not having the intimacy and quirkiness of the SF & SD parks, or do you feel the classic lines of Dodger Stadium are incomparable to what the Pads and Giants have to offer?
In general, how to you think DS sands up to SBC & Petco?
LosAngelesSportsFan July 9th, 2005, 07:47 PM Those are cute parks, and they are great, but Dodger Stadium is classic and is a perfect place for a baseball game. The symetry of the park is great and the lines are classic, well, until McCourt added the new seats, taking away most of the foul territry. It adds to the game, changing it a little so i dont mind it, but a lot of fans despise the seats, and you can hear moans and groans at the stadium when a foul ball goes into the new seats.
STLSportsFan4 July 10th, 2005, 10:14 AM Petco and SBC are nice parks dont get me wrong, but they will never be anything compared to Dodger Stadium. IMO, Dodger Stadium is one of the best ballparks in the country, and definitly the best one in the West.
edsg25 July 11th, 2005, 02:52 AM Guys, I do agree with you about the classic, symmetrical beauty of Dodger Stadium. The place is an original and has become hallowed ground in baseball.
That said, I've got to give SBC very high marks. Unlike the so many of the other retroparks, this one's quirky dimensions are not gratuitous. The bay/China Basis intrudes on the right field wall and cuts down its size. I really believe this park, beyond so many of the new ones, will be viewed as a classic manyyears from now.

SBC Park is pretty nice. Its one of my favorites except for they made the aisles really small for some reason... Other than that its great. Execpt for the fact that the Giants play there :bash:
There is probably a good chance it may end up being a classic in years to come but it has awhile to go
JoeyIncali July 11th, 2005, 08:13 AM Dodgers don't need to move to another stadium.
They need to move their baserunners.

Good call lol...
This year is pretty much down the drain, but next year could be good. If we get Gagne back healthy, and the rest of the team healthy and send the 51's team back to Las Vegas instead of being up here with LA, then I don't see why we can't win the west next year.

The owner and the GM are clowns.
It'll be just as bad next year.
