I need to go look at housing in Victoria in the near future. Checking flights online it seems about $100 cheaper to fly into Van then Vic. But, how difficult/expensive would it be to get from the airport to the island? Keeping in mind that i have never been to BC before so my local knowledge is zero.

Thanks
:cheers1:

You could take BC Ferries ... Translink connects to both the Tsawwassen & Horseshoe Bay terminal.

Pacific Coach Lines operates a shuttle bus from Vancouver airport to downtown Victoria it is around 40 bucks each way including the ferry cost. It is a lot faster than the local public transit and MUCH faster.

Good luck with house search pretty hot market for realestate and rental market is pretty tight the closer you get to September.

Public Transit Option

424 from the Airport to Airport Station
Transfer to 620 (TSAWWASSEN FERRY TERMINAL)

The Translink website states the trip will take less than an hour. Fare : $3.25

Just fly. Airport to airport is less than 100. Helijet is like 150. There's also floatplanes that can take you from YVR to the harbour.

Spend the extra $100 and fly direct.

A seaplane flight will cost you $100 one way from YVR to downtown, an airline flight from YVR to YYJ will cost you $150, unless you book 14 days in advance. A bus will cost you less, but you'll spend hours travelling from the YVR to downtown Victoria. Public transportation is lengthy and more of a nuisance but it's the cheapest way to go.

If you don't fly direct you'll spend between four to five hours getting from YVR to downtown Victoria. More if you plan on using public transit. People who live here already know that flying into Vancouver as opposed to Victoria is more of a hassle but those who are flying in for the first time usually make the mistake of flying into Vancouver and expecting Victoria to be a skip and a hop away.

$100 extra for the luxury of flying direct into Victoria? Worth every penny, trust me :)
