Slightly off topic, but have you all seen this?

Maybe to make this ontopic, post screenshots of your cities?

That looks awesome. Unfortunately, they don't have a Linux version, so I can't use it, but I can see how useful this service can be :okay:

Man I tried Mandrake Linux on my old computer and I just couldn't get it to work with me. I mainly used the GNU functions and would occasionally try to go non-GNU but it was not for me. I'm just not computer savvy enough to run that kind of stuff. I'm back on Windows now.

Nick, what kind of system do you have? Mandrake, as of late, has its binaries compiled for newer systems, which makes it very hard to install on an older machine... Even I had some problems running it under my old AMD-based system. I recommend you use Fedora Core - preferably 2 or 3, although 4 is out and I have heard good things about it. Also, you might like to try some Debian-based distros (e.g. Kubuntu, Mepis, Xandros), or Slackware.

There are ways you can make this application work under Linux, I am sure, but I do not have the time to try it. First, I will have to download and configure WINE, for Windows emulation, but who knows, the Zen virtualization project may achieve just as much, especially if you have a copy of Winblows around :)

Don't give up, Nick... I've been using Linux since 1995, when there was hardly enough software to make this OS appealing on the desktop. Now, I use it as my primary OS, on 3 machines, and haven't looked back. Sometimes there is work to be done up front, but once it is finished you won't have to go back and redo things... At least not in my case. If I find a way to make this application work I will post something here.

Raleigh-NC, thanks for the encouragement, but my computer with Linux on it only had a 4MB hard drive, and I actually thought I could partition it into a Linux/Windows machine. (Try to control your laughing.) Nowadays, the closest I get to Linux is running GIMP on this Windows XP machine.

I see where you problem is... My old machine is a 4.3GB and I hardly find it enough any more :( At least you are using GIMP, which is a great step forward towards "freedom". Along with Open Office, GIMP offers a lot for those who cannot take two steps towards "freedom". One step at a time...

Sorry for turning this thread into a Linux-related discussion. If you need any help with Linux - I am no expert, by the way - I will be happy to assist you. Just send me a PM. Now, can anyone post a Raleigh image?
