City of Novi Sad to recieve twenty-five low floor buses from "Neobus" (another domestic company) Last bus to be delivered by mid-August this year

U AD „NEOBUS”

http://www.dnevnik.co.yu/arhiva/12-05-2005/akt/10-9.jpg

he, he :)
I think I know what You are talking about - I mean public transport in Warsaw is owned by the city, however there are many private bus routes, which are connecting Warsaw with some smaller places and towns outside the city.

And Yes - most of the buses owned by those private operators does not look very modern ;)

and they are, they have quite a few gadgets inside and out, you'd think it is gone all sci-fi, lol, and it is first tram to actually have working air-conditioning inside, tram has interior and exterior camera system so driver can ce situation all over the place, back of the tram and sides which is crucial for such a large tram, it is 32m long, 2.3m wide, and can carry 200 passengers....

Tram is offered on various gage systems and few foreign customers have already asked for specs and are interested for the tram, city of Sofia has already showed interest.

I think it would be great if Wroclaw or Warsaw get it to, they are quite cheep , only 2.5 million CIF and manufacture can deliver up to 36 trams per year.

I think Gdansk could also benefit from this trams..

forgot to mention Sofia is interested for 3 section version as this trams are for to long for Sofia's streets and they want something up to 25m length. Zagreb has always had long trams, old ones where about 40m long - 3 car trams built by Duro Dakovic factory in Croatia way back in 60's, but this are primarily built by Knocar although Duro Djakovic is responsible for boogies. Gradelj another constrictor is responsible for exterior and final assembly rest of it is done by Koncar industries....

And for comparison, Bombardier trams Krakow got (50) cost over 3.5 million per tram. OK all of it financed by EU structural founds but still, way to much, for similar tram from Skoda you'd need to cuff up 3.3 million and for Simmens trams (which have hip of technical problems) you'd need to put aside no less than 4million US$. for French Astolm and Italian trams slightly less, only 3.75 million but they look nice and similar in design features to Cro-Tram..

Older Koncar Trams - entered service 1998 - 2000, only 17 entered service but they also look nice

they do actually look nice, well not most beautiful but they are not that bad looking, I actually like them, but you could do with some change, lol, say 50 Cro-trams just to spicy things up, lol....

BTW are this 100% low floor as from some pics I can't make it out!?
I think Krakow did great job with its Bombardier deal got 50 trams for free basically, I am sure if Warsaw applied similar ingenuity they might get 50 or 100 Cro-Trams if they win the competition for new Warsaw Trams... Or Gdansk or any city....

Of course if price is right, think if Alstom-Konsol can be cheaper than sure why not.....

Warsaw is interested in Cro-Trams, Warsaw city officials visited Cro-Tram factory and look to get Cro-Trams... for Warsaw. Price tag per tram if Warsaw get them will be in region of 3 million US$ (this include CIF price) the other cheapest contender would be Skoda Trams which would be in region of 3.35 million US$ per tram... Simmens Trams are in region 4.25 million US$, Bombardier trams are 4.1 million and French Alstom and Italian manufacturer AnsaldoBreda are also about 3.8 million US$ for there respective trams...

http://www.vecernji-list.hr/system/galleries/pics/050706/tram-8.jpg

There is a big interest for Cro-Tram from many foreign clients, Warsaw, Memphis, Portland, Osijek, Belgrade, Sofia and Melbourne just to name few who expressed interest for Cro-Tram. If Ljubljana, Split and Rijeka built there planed tram systems than I guess trams will be success beyond wildest imaginations...

New 5 Section Tram from Skoda, Czech Manufacturer
Skoda has successfully bid and won contracts to respectfully deliver 20 trams to Portland, Oregon and 6 trams to Calgary in Canada. Average price Skoda bid for these 2 contactors was 16.2 million US$ in Calgary and 60 million US$ for Portland contract. Both Contracts are in process of being completed as Portland has already received half of its trams and Calgary is about to receive its first tram...

This was a program for 3-section articulated trams model 10T and average price tag for the tram as 2.75 million US$....

Suffice to say 5 section trams are lot more expensive average price being 3.35 millionUS$...

Melbourne Australia and few other cities expressed interest for this tram, and most likely confirmed order from cities of Osijek for 32 trams and Rijeka which is building (plan to) completely new tram network after nearly 80 years last trams roamed streets of Rijeka. Rijeka would have requirement for 50-55 new trams...

Wow, PESA is building some interesting trains. If they continue this could become an interesting competitor to Bombardier, Alstom, Stadler, etc.. in the regional and (sub)urban railway market. Their trains look really nice. I only think that the interiors don't look very comfortable (but that's pretty common of course for regional trains).

Jacek
April 8th, 2006, 04:33 AM
Yeah we have been saying the same thing on the Polish forum. Seats dont look to comfortable for short haul trips but that seems to be the standard and it's what was requested from the client. Long haul trains (Warsaw-Lodz) will have better more comfortable seating.

As far as being a competitor it seems PESA is targeting the Polish market right now as more regions are shutting down expensive trains and replacing them with cheaper to operate railbuses. So far the only international order was from Ukraine and this trainset was delievered to them:

http://railphotos.kiev.ua/Exhibition_14_03_2006/620M/IMG_1637.jpg

As far as their ED74 trainset I showed as first in my thread I agree - the design is kick ass and beats anything I have seen from their foreign competitors.

The company has designed some other cool railbuses:

Why ? Large amount of people travelling to Wadowice from Krakow are pilgrims and people interested in the life of Pope John Paul II. They come from all over the world. So just like any responsible local municipality Wadowice wants to cater to tourists and provide them with services that people would find interesting. It increases the town's cultural offering and makes it more accessible.

I see nothing overboard with this initiative. If anything it is a sign of progress, tourist are no longer treated as a necessary evil but as potential revenue generating factor.

I rode the Bombardier's Talent car last weekend in Ottawa, where they work the "O-Train" line (two trainsets on a five station line) ... they were very comfortable & modern:okay:

By the way, any Ukrainians here can tell me more about this "industrial association"?
What do they produce?

Fabrika Vagona Kraljevo” sale contract signed
The Serbian Privatisation Agency has stated that its representatives signed a sale contract with representatives of the sole bidder in the tender, the Industrial Association of Donbas based in Donetsk, Ukraine. The contract concerns the sale of 70.95% of the capital of the holding company “Fabrika Vagona Kraljevo”.

The purchase price was €200,000, with an investment programme worth €6.454 million; apart from the minimum obligation from the company’s social welfare programme, the buyer also unconditionally accepted an array of additional obligations regarding the social programme.

At the tender for “Fabrika Vagona Kraljevo”, announced on March 31 in 2005, the sole bid was submitted by the Industrial Association of Donbas, based in Donetsk, Ukraine.

At the commission’s second meeting, held on November 4 in 2005, a decision was passed on beginning negotiations with the sole bidder, and the Serbian Ministry of Economy passed a Solution on November 11 in 2005 on forming a three-member commission for negotiations.

The commission for negotiations passed a decision on concluding the sale contract of the capital of the holding company “Fabrika Vagona Kraljevo” after six sessions.

At the third session of the tender commission, held on March 27 in 2006, the results of the negotiations were accepted and a unanimous decision was made to conclude a contract for the sale of the capital of the company “Fabrika Vagona Kraljevo” with the sole bidder the Industrial Association of Donbas, reads the statement.

Project for new subway Bucharest North Railway Station - Baneasa (Aurel Vlaicu) and Otopeni (Henri Coanda ) Airports ... the brown one on the attached picture ...decision to be made by end of March and works should start this year

14 km and 14 stops ... to be financed by Japan Bank...approx 900mil euro

Japan might finance construction of subway line to Otopeni airport
Tarom decided in mid-October 2006 to half ticket fees for domestic routes, resulting in sales’ surge by 25 pc. The state owned airline company intends to keep the current pricing policy in the months to come.
published in issue 3847 page 8 at 2007-01-10
BUCHAREST – With the development of air traffic in Romania a problem still remains with respect to the difficult access to the largest airport in Romania. Authorities plan for some time now to build a new subway line to link Bucharest with Otopeni-based Henri Coanda International airport. As always, the main problem rest in the finanicng of the project, but yesterday minister delegate for Trade, Iuliu Winkler told the Japanese government might credit Bucharest City Hall for implementing the project. A decision in this respect is expected at end-March, Winkler added, quoted by Mediafax.

According to the already completed feasibility study of the EUR 900 M worth project, the new 14 kilometres subway line will link Capital’s main railway station with country’s largest airport. Bucharest Mayor, Adriean Videanu declared last summer the credit would be granted by the Japanese state in JPY at an annual interest rate of 0.75 per cent for 40 years, with a 10 years grace period to be also allowed.

Tarom posts increased revenues from domestic flights

State owned airline company Tarom starts collecting the benefits of having reduced in mid-October last year ticket prices for domestic flights by 50 per cent. According to company’s representatives, quoted by “Ziarul Financiar”, revenues from operations on the local market advanced by 25 per cent, with an average of over 70 per cent of airline’s domestic flights seats being occupied. Only in November 2006 the number of passengers on domestic flights went up by 20 per cent as against the previous month. The company also launched in December a new offer for domestic flights with a view to encouraging Romanians to shift from travelling by train to air traffic. Prices offered by Tarom are quite similar with those of a first class railway ticket, company’s representatives added. According to the sources, Tarom intends to keep the current pricing policy in the months to come. This strategy could be viewed as a response to the open sky agreement within the European Union air space, respectively allowing any foreign airline to operate domestic flights.

Tarom currently operates with 18 aircrafts on 31 routes abroad and the remaining two of four contracted Airbus 318-111s to be delivered are due to enter company’s fleet this year. Moreover, according to the secretary of state with the Ministry of Transports, Constructions and Tourism, Alexandros Galiatatos, Tarom could reintroduce the two Airbus A310 on new routes towards the Middle East, China or Central Asia as of October 2007.

EC imposed pollution tax to surge intra-community ticket prices by up to eur 9

Airlines will most definitely surge flight prices as of 2011 with an additional impact on passengers and air transportation’s worldwide attractively. The European Commission (EC) recently agreed to introduce a new tax on the airlines flying within the European air space. Starting 2011 companies will have to purchase polluting emissions permits for domestic flights while as of 2012 the permits will affect all international flights. According to the EC, the ticket fee will go up as a result by EUR 1.8-9 for flights within the EU and EUR 8-40 for routes towards the United States of America. EC claims the measure is included in EU’s strategy for fighting against climate changes. Over the last 17 years emissions of international flights within the European air space almost doubled.

Here some updates from Istanbul. I could add some more Turkish cities but then I'm sure that I'll hear comments such as that Turkey isn't european etc... In order to avoid this I'll post only Istanbul:

First fact: As a metropole Istanbul has got one of the worst railway systems world wide. Allthough we have world's second oldest metro and had the most developed tram lines at the begining of the 20th century they were all removed and replaced by streets and buses.

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8382/istiklal3yp.jpg
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/7394/galkop20uq.jpg

For years no one asked what happened to all the tram lines and maybe you won't believe but Istanbul had it's first metro line in 1989. In 2001 a masterplan was created which proposed 503 km of railway system for Istanbul and since 2003 Istanbul is building like crazy. You see in every corner a metro station cunstruction. The second fact is that Istanbul has got world's longest u/c lines right now. A total contstruction 143 km!

That's the published masterplan with 503 of railway system. Not every line on this map is u/c right now!
http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/8863/metromap1ow5.jpg

This map shows the lines which are u/c right now! The tram lines aren't shown, only metro lines!
green: existing lines
blue: u/c and construction will end by 2008 and 2009
red: construction start in 2007. By 2010 the red lines will be completed too.

the most important metro line is the marmaray line. It connects bots sides of Istanbul with a underwater tupe. The total lenght of the line is 78 km. With this line both ends will be connected with each other.

Here on this map you can see the line. On the other map I opsted above the line is also visible (in blue)

That is just 18 years ago.
As far as I know, London and Budapest have the oldest metro systems in the world, and they're more than 100 years old (and that is a fact).

Found this ...

Hampstead tube station is a London Underground station in Hampstead village in north London, NW3 1QG. The station is on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line, between Golders Green and Belsize Park stations, and on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3.

The station was opened on the 22 June 1907 by the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway. Located at the junction of Heath Street and Hampstead High Street, the name Heath Street was proposed for the station before opening. Hampstead Village is located on a steep hill and the station platforms are the deepest London Underground station, at 58.5 metres or 192 feet below ground level. It has the deepest lift shaft on the Underground at 181 feet deep. The station is serviced by lifts and there is also a spiral emergency staircase, made up of 300 steps.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampstead_tube_station

To the north, between Hampstead and Golders Green stations is the uncompleted North End or Bull & Bush station. Hampstead Heath railway station on the National Rail North London Line is about a 10-15 minute walk away to the east.

Hampstead is also the deepest station on the tube network

Actually there many escalators longer than 100m in Moscow Metro. Longest are on park Pobedy station - 126m. Escalators on Petrovsko-Razumovskaya station are 122m long.

Romania: Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece ask for technical assistance

Constantin Axinia, the general manager of the Romanian national administrator of rail infrastructure, was contacted by Turkish authorities for making a research study.
As a result, Romanian Railways are going to make an evaluation study on the quality of Turkish railway system, using performing technology.

Besides Turkish authorities, also Bulgarian and Greek authorities have shown their interest in having a diagnosis made with Romanian technology.

CFR SA is the present owner of one of the last generation diagnosis motor driven for tracks and contact line in Europe. Constantin Axinia declared that a motor driven of this kind can be found only in Austria, but the one in the possession of Romanian authorities is a more performing one. Besides it, there is no other machine of this type in Turkey.

EDIT http://www.dedalgroup.ru/
ЗАО «ВАГОНМАШ» объявлено победителем тендера на поставку вагонов для Варшавского метрополитена (Польша), в соответствии с письмом от «METRO WARSZAWSKIE» Sp.z.o.o. за № EH/500/48/JM/06 от 30.05.2007г.

Pendolinos reach 220 km/h. Where will you use them?!:dunno: Do you have tracks capable of sustaining such speeds or you'll apply the Romanian way? Here we have Desiro DMUs used even on InterCity routes. Note that Desiros are made for short, fast hops and can reach 120 km/h. We use them on long routes on tracks with limitations of 87 km/h for IC service. I think MAV (Hungary) and BDZ (Bulgaria) use them in a similar way on the same, stupid kind of tracks.

The point is I'm yet to see quality, high-speed train service in this part of Europe.:ohno: Goodluck, Ukraine. We (Eastern Europe and not only) suck at rail transport.

Stupid trains aside...

RATB (Bucharest's Public Transport Administration) will buy 500 new buses. EvoBus, Iveco France and Solaris Bus & Coach have made offers.

EvoBus offers the Mercedes Citaro for 210.000 euro each, Iveco offers the Citelis for 224.650 euro, and Solaris offers the Urbino at 216.650 euro each. We'll see who wins, but since MAN is not participating at the auction I hope they pick the Citaro. We already have 500 of them and they're good. About Citelis... we have the trolleybus version of it and they're good too, but too small for our overcrowded network. Citaro is a bit bigger (more room inside).

And for the Solaris, maybe our Polish friends can say a few words. Or whoever has them.

For Romanians, you can find more info on the buses and photos on my blog, here (http://blog.paginibucurestene.ro/2007/06/13/licitatia-pentru-alte-500-de-autobuze-a-fost-deschisa/).

I can answer that question. First off, this is a 10 year program (2005-2015).

Second, the method they are using is dividing the freight and passanger traffic separetely to insure these trains are running without delay. This of course, will be followed by renewed infrastructure, changing to new rails, etc.

As far as I know, and from what I've heard, it will be a sort of "pilot" program at first, they will pick a 200 km distance between two cities and run this train. From then on conclusions can be drawn and further planning can be continued.

What are the "??" for? Regarding the articulated buses being forbidden in Bucharest? I meant that in an ironic way. The point is, there are many lines where articulated would be a solution, but RATB says they're hard to handle and a pain in the ass for city traffic. I (and not only I) say they're plain stupid.:bash:

So... articulated buses are not really forbidden.

I also said, that based on the length and door configuration, they might choose the Urbino III 12 model.

Hope I was more clear this time.

I also think, they are stupid. ;) Probably some bad experience with articulated buses in the past. Nevetheless in Warsaw most of the central lines are served by these beautiful monsters. :) We have only one metro line, so buses and trams are still crucial for public transport.

These are some of the new trams (not the ones that there's going to be an auction for) that are going to be put into circulation in bucharest in the following months; it's called BUCUR LF and it's 70% Low floor.

you have to keep in mind though, that the tram is not completed yet! no wonder ratb is keeping a closed lid on it! and personally iheard alstom also! they said that siemens and bombardier deteriorate the rails; and also alstom is probably going to cough up the bribe money hahaha. but the auction for the new trams will be held AFTER the one for the new 500 buses with AC! (i heard someone say who has a source at the city hall , that they are going 100% with the MErcedes CITARO that already are runing) and after an auction for another 100 ASTRA trolley buses which are needed ;

Dudes, I hate using the tram in Bucharest. And guess what... it's not that I have anything against trams in general, but the trams we now have are butt-ugly and when you add the amount of human *censored word* that uses them, it's enough for me to avoid them as much as I can.

So if they can improve at least the looks, then fine by me. Bucur is a shy attempt at making a modern tram. They're based on the V3A, as far as I know, and yes, they're ugly too, but at least they are modernized and not as ugly as the ones roaming the tracks today, uh?

As for the new ones, I hope Bombardier or Alstom get chosen.

And someone said they destroy the tracks. Well, excuse me... Bombardier Movia metro trains also destroy the tracks. You wanna know why? Cause we have a shitty infrastructure. Of course those things need a certain kind of tracks and a very good type of tracks... but if you can't provide that, don't blame the no. 1 in rail equipment (Bombardier Transportation) or even Siemens.

Cosmin
June 15th, 2007, 04:36 PM
The tenders for the 100 new trams for RATB are:

Alstom
Bombardier Transportation
Siemens

Škoda was also on the list, but they've since retreated their offer allegedly because the bid was already "won" (if you know what I mean :) ) by one of the remaining firms. And then, the bid was canceled because none of the offers respected the price set by RATB, so we'll have a second bid... I don't know when.

mutleeyc, yeah, Movias are good. It's Metrorex's mentality and infrastructure that doesn't fit with Bombardier products.:bash:

Yes, the list can change, but I doubt it will. Prime minister Tăriceanu said a few months ago, after visiting Zagreb, that he likes their trams (you know, the blue CroTram ones, used by ZET) and he'll propose CroTram to participate at the bid, but I think it was just another one of Tăriceanu's declarations, just to look like he's actually doing something useful.:)

Anyway, I really like these Pesa trams. Good job, Poland.

Bombardier sells 300m-euro trains to Metrorex Bucharest
www.zf.ro

Swedish rolling stock producer Bombardier Transportation, whose only client on the local market is Metrorex, announced that the total value of deliveries for the Bucharest subway stands at 300 million euros. "Our partnership with Metrorex started in 1999, and we have reached orders amounting to 300 million euros for trains and signalling devices. We are currently carrying out our current orders," stated Jean Berge, marketing and sales vicepresident of the Mainline & Metros division of Bombardier. The first contract signed with Metrorex entailed the delivery of 18 trains with a total of 108 carriages for the Pipera line. In total, Bombardier will have delivered 44 trains for Metrorex by the time the contract is concluded. Bombardier trains are assembled in the Electroputere Craiova plant, with the level of local integration standing below 10%, according to company representatives.
