You cannot walk the three cross harbour tunnels. In fact, walking is not allowed through any vehicular tunnel in Hong Kong. The same goes to the Tsing Ma and Ting Kau Bridges. There is a viewing area at the eastern end of the Tsing Ma Bridge, or you can stop by Ma Wan (Park Island) for a nice close-up view of the bridge. vincent June 30th, 2005, 12:15 AM if you want to take pics, find a seat in the upper deck and very front of a double deck bus is just as nice. Make sure u get the shutter speed as fast as possible so the pics won't be blur. beivushtang June 30th, 2005, 09:22 AM gee, you put millions and millions in a transportation project and you don't think someone might want to take a hike using it.. how, for exapmle, someone who lives in tsuen wan can get to tsing yi or lantau ? it's all a walking distance, and what about bicycle? hkskyline June 30th, 2005, 03:48 PM The smaller bridges between Tsing Yi and Tsuen Wan have sidewalks. However, it is very dangerous to walk a tunnel because the air quality is very bad. Exhaust is trapped in the tunnels even though there is ventilation. vvill June 30th, 2005, 06:10 PM gee, you put millions and millions in a transportation project and you don't think someone might want to take a hike using it.. how, for exapmle, someone who lives in tsuen wan can get to tsing yi or lantau ? it's all a walking distance, and what about bicycle? oh well.. possibly because they don't wanna turn Tsing Ma Bridge into the no.1 spot for committing suicide. beivushtang June 30th, 2005, 06:29 PM ^ well, commiting suicide in hong kong doesn't need a bridge, (#1 skyscrapercity in the planet...) Pangu June 30th, 2005, 06:44 PM ^ well, commiting suicide in hong kong doesn't need a bridge, (#1 skyscrapercity in the planet...) I doubt you can go up in most commercial skyscrapers that easily. Even then, most, if not all, observation decks are sealed with no openings. As for residential buildings, the higher better ones most likely have security guards and as for the others, well there's not much the government can do about them is there? Besides, the point is to MINIMIZE opportunities who people who commit suicides, not to ELIMINATE ALL opportunities as it is impossible. beivushtang July 1st, 2005, 08:21 AM That's really hurts the right of free travel, oh, but, what do you know about rights in china.. bs_lover_boy July 1st, 2005, 12:42 PM That's really hurts the right of free travel, oh, but, what do you know about rights in china.. Actually it's not that way because for the harbour you have the ferry and there is no point to walk in a tunnel. The other tunnels which goes through mountains do not have them because there are routes above the tunnel on the mountain for bikers and pedestrians. As for bridges, some have sidewalks but other doesn't because they are part of the highway (i don't suspect that you expect that highways need to have sidewalks do you?). Pangu July 1st, 2005, 04:40 PM That's really hurts the right of free travel, oh, but, what do you know about rights in china.. Why do some people insist on making ignorant statements? sfgadv02 July 1st, 2005, 05:47 PM Why would anyone want to walk the Tsing Ma Bridge anyway? There is nothing but highway highway and more highway. Kinda pointless IMO. beivushtang July 1st, 2005, 07:00 PM Why do some people insist on making ignorant statements? I was just kidding.. i love china! and i myself against huma rights.. (see? just kidding again.. ) :jk: :jk: but i want to walk the Tsing Ma bridge ! Pangu July 1st, 2005, 08:42 PM I was just kidding.. i love china! and i myself against huma rights.. (see? just kidding again.. ) :jk: :jk: but i want to walk the Tsing Ma bridge ! You can't just say you're kidding and pretend that everything is OK. That's how an ignorant person STAYS ignorant. But since you sound like you're very young and immature still, it's easier to forgive you. |
